I love so many details about this scene. The acting by Toby Jones (Lance) where he expresses wonder, incredulity, tears of joy, and ecstasy, all in a few seconds. When the music starts. How Sophie backs away, all smiles, because this was Lance's finding, Andy and her was discouraging him. Then Lance dancing. Sophie jumping up and down. (She doesn't know you're supposed to dance when you find gold..it was Andy and Lance's agreement) . Andy starts to dance, Sophie joins in, they all do that goofy dance... Then the camera flies away, showing you that this is perhaps just one of the several nuggets of history that may be buried in a great land. Waiting to be found, by other Detectorists. I knew Mackenzie Crook as that weird but funny Gareth guy from UK version of The Office. He has written and directed a masterpiece here.
Late to the good dance party, but we watched this episode finally last night, and my god I was yelling at the tv to Lance to turn back and check by the stone… That little touch of the pragmatic Lance standing there saying he could hear horses was just genius. Such a touching little connection to that ancient past…it worked beautifully. A wonderful wonderful creation of a series. Well done Mackenzie Crook and all involved.

I dont think I've ever seen such a series that is so perfect in every single way.
Not sure what I like most about these series: the writing, the acting or the way it's shot. All are exquisite.
