Ben Lawers and Ben Ghlas provide some of the best mountain descents to be had in Scotland, so when Rob asked to do a mountain, it was a no brainer of a decision.
We somehow managed to get a good window of weather as well, which was an added bonus.

I’ve been following you for about two years Andrew and based on this and other recent videos your bike handling skills have improved massively. I can’t believe the hills you’re riding down! 😮👏👏👏👏
Thanks Kevin, I do feel that the last couple of years have been good for my progression. I do love mountain biking for that, there’s always room to improve.
@@McTrailRider Seeing you go over the handle bars reminded me of my riding style! 🤣🤣
I’ve been living in England for the past 7 years
There literally no mountains within 100 mile of me
I grew up in Stirling surrounded by hills
Man a miss Scotland ✌️
Fantastic scenery as usual. The dynamic between mtbers and hikers seems pretty chill in your neck of the woods. I can’t recall ever seeing a negative interaction in one of your vids……there must be something in the water. Thanks for the vid
I’ve only ever had two of the bad interactions out of thousands. We’re pretty chill up here.
Wow that was great Andrew, the technical riding on Ben Lawers was hugely impressive well done mate!
Excellent. Very well done both. I was most impressed with you awaiting an audience prior to your rather stylish 'dismount'! Nice.
I like this landscape and the video. Great.
Many thanks!
Outstanding down them hills , your so lucky to have so many different quality trails ! And your claymore is so good on them 👍🏼
That was a master class in riding mountains. Stunning views and beautifully filmed.
Awesome video Andrew. Probably my favorite one yet! Going full time has certainly made a massive impact on your riding! Great to see you getting more and more comfortable with the super techy stuff. Also Kudo's for the responsible drone use up top, most people wouldn't have cared and stuck it in the air anyway 👍
Good to see you bailing one over the handlebars. Makes you seem like one of us after all. Great vid again
Absolutely love this video and your skills 👍👍👍. Funny drive past here on Monday and thought of you. I definitely need to ride this
Another film of your adventures filmed superbly, putting your skill levels on show and the beauty of Scotland's wilderness and high peaks. Unfortunately I have to disagree with you re the ghosts having encountered one on a riverbank near Peterhead. In the early hours of a morning sea trout fishing, whereby to try and discount my eyes deceiving me and that of my fellow fisherman I poked my 10ft rod towards the apparition and it passed right through. We beat a hasty retreat and I never returned to that pool and found out later that was the reason why the old timers stayed clear also. Around that period I had another encounter with a ghost but it was my granny coming back to check on her young great grandson who woke up and started chatting to what he described as the lady in the corner who had met him once when he was 2 weeks old but he described exactly the type of clothes she used to wear i.e. a housecoat. That did not spook me at all but gave me great comfort unlike the encounter on the river. Enjoy the bothy I am sure it will be fine just don't go on your own.
Brilliant another big mountain day ❤️🏴 some speed at the bottom like😬
Great ride, beautiful location!! That decent looks exhausting
I did this last year and trust me you made it look easy , fair play Andy
Agreed! 👍
Yeah, it’s hard to convey the steepness on camera.
Great video again, been following a while. What skills, it looks steep on GoPro so must be very! Love the scenery and peak spotting shots too. Can't wait to get back ro Scotland this summer (dont mention the midges!) but i think ill be hiking this one before biking it, many years skills progression for me, if i ever get that good I'd be super satisfied! But its inspiring seeing your rides and progress.
Agreed same in N England. Usually at the solstice I have memories of many great summer rides and camping out in warm weather. Have none! One silver lining is I hope the usual winter lows/blues will not be so bad! I may enjoy winter more. Will see!
Surpassed yourself yet again, awesome bit of filming keep up the good work👍
Wow. Bike skills are coming along nicely. Great ride.
Great video yet again. Looking forward to Ben Alder!
Cheers. I’m looking forward to it too.
Just brilliant Andrew 🍻 loved watching that.
Wow, I enjoyed that ride sitting on my arse in Dalkeith. Even with the camera flattening some of those turns look impossible. Good Work!
Those steps nearby the top are looking very steep😮and you roll them just like a regular staircaise😅Shish i got to push my riding forward😁 great Vid go ahead Andrew😊
Always beautiful views from your drone shots ❤️🚵🏻
Glad you like them!
Awesome riding and video Andrew, some great views - good to see you smash that lower section and big skills on the chunk at the top - one glance at the lady and OTB :) always happens!! cheers
That lower section is so much fun!
Your technical trails make mine look like a bird walkers trail. Great riding and video.
This one is definitely at the upper end of technical.
That was very tasty and some nice riding, even the small OTB. That last lower section was nice and flowy
The last bit is soo good👌
Great skills Andy.
Thanks Gaz😊
Great riding, great dronage.
Jeez, that last section was fast Andrew!
Such a good bit that 👌
That looks a brilliant spot ,challenging for man and bike.😊
Definitely challenging
Wowser 👏🏾
Another superb video. Incredible riding and awesome scenery.
So wish I didn't live about 9 hours drive away. Not that I could ride it but the walk would be good . Cheers!
Yeah, that’s a bit of a drive for sure 😬
Well riden Mc great vid and drone shots 👍
Thanks Carl
I’d be flat out walking some of that let alone riding it
Did we see you two doing this on 2 June '23? I biked down mountains on 26" wheel full rigids then hardtails from 1988 to 2009 before going over to the road so have never ridden a bike with 29" wheels but even if I owned one, my gonads certainly aren't large enough to ride that kind of stuff. One question though: isn't it easier to get off the back and ride down the grass?
Lawers and Glen Lyon is my favourite ride but strictly on my climbing tarmac bike.
Great video as always and your endo skills are strong! I'm planning on doing this over the weekend if the weather plays ball, is it best done as an out and back or skirting round the bottom of Beinn Ghlas, from watching your vids you've done both? TIA
I was there when you had summer!!🤣😂
Beginning on may BH weekend!! 😜
Enjoyed watching that, although I did feel a bit “twitchy bum” watching the steep rough top sections, didn’t want you going OTB. Well ridden 👍
That was a Quality vid rite ther dude . RESPECT BRUVA, Class ridin mate n great trails n super views n even falling for the lady's eh 😂😂😂
I totally fell for her 😂
@@McTrailRider Lucky her bruv. U even crash well too tho lol
@@McTrailRiderDid she say anything to you?
Great video..looking at buying a drone. What drone are you using? Looks great
I’m using the dji Air 3
I planted the pretty girl. You’re welcome.
Are you using a Mini 4 Pro? Getting good results with that drone, I have one myself and I have had to glue the shoulder buttons to stop pressing them when I put the controller in my bag. I notice you seem to move the drone into different positions whilst still using Active Track. I use the sun visor to disable my joysticks…I notice you have removed yours. Would love to know any other tot bits of useful advice E you might have as I’m going to Moab in September and looking at doing some epic droning whilst there….although my videos are not a patch on yours.
I’m using the Air 3, it seems to be the best for following at the moment.
The mesh pocket of the inside of my backpack is the perfect size for the controller on its side, which helps me out a lot👍
How long does a ride like this actually take you? Round-trip
I think my moving time was a little over 2 hours, but there was plenty of stopping to be honest.
@@McTrailRidercan I clarify that all the descent we see in this film (& others), you’ve climbed (with the bike obviously)?
Hill climbing these mountains is hard enough. To ride, carry, push a bike up wearing bike shoes(!), and then have enough energy left to descend safely is just amazing.
Superb man - brilliant riding! I walked Ben Lawers a few yrs ago but not got the kahoonas or the skills to take a bike up it :-). Good work.
I did the Ben Alder loop back in March, was awesome. The hike a bike after the 2nd Bothy was a bugger with an ebike and in the snow, but cracking single track. Vid below 👍
th-cam.com/video/gTV3TjvVwlY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-wQkh8TXgLu9Kkpg
Very nice cinematic edit 👌
The route did look really good👍
@@McTrailRider thanks man :-). No idea of Ben Alders bikeable or not but the loop was a cracking day out :-)
Where the fook are you?!?
what a island? England TOP
It's Scotland and not England.
Seriously epic trail andrew, drone shots were awesome!🤙
Thanks buddy
