Looooove that we're calling it Church Redacted now 😂. Also I loved Grant's question to Drew about how he internalized being told hate the sin love the sinner. That was a great conversation ❤
the story about the church person being able to accept their gay son because of grant's behaviour about darby ending with darby's joke has blueballed me so hard. i almost cried.
I grew up very Mormon in Utah and my dad is still convinced that I’m going to die of AIDS. It’s definitely been one of those things that plagues my mind. The Matthew Shepard killing also scared me because I had always been told that his killers were Mormon and grew up in rural Mormon Utah. So even now I assume I could die from AIDS, or some homophobic jerks.
As someone born in the late 80s and growing up in 90s in a more secular UK, it was definitely something that affected me as a young teenager grappling with my queerness. I totally agree about the idea of possibly dying young because I am gay and HIV/Aids was still a 'gay' disease even in the early 2000s. It's much better now than it was for our generation and especially for generations before us. I can't imagine what it was like to have that pressure alongside the homophobic religious dogma aswell. I still remember all the news articles in the 90s about celebrities like Freddie Mercury dying of Aids and the lack of compassion that was written about them, like they brought it on themselves. Weirdly enough I have spoken about this with my older straight brother and he doesn't remember any of this. Love you guys and the podcast.xx
Another great episode! Drew, I know how scary the fires were. Looking at the bright smoke over the hills was scary. But, contrary to the lies told outside by the Republicans, our fire departments are amazing. Some years back, we had a very similar fire situation, four points and the center at the Sepulveda Dam, justvlike this fire. And they handled it great then. And Grant...can I recommend a TV show that gives you the prospective you talked about the devil and hell? It's called Lucifer. Such a fun and exciting show. But, it is exactly what you talked about. 😊
As an Aussie, we all definitely understand the fear of fires. Especially in our 2019-2020 fires. My state alone had over like 11 thousand bushfires reported in less than seven months. Sadly, they really will only get worse these next ten years unfortunately. I hope they’ll settle down soon.
I was looking for this comment. I'm in rural Queensland and we've had several fires really close to our property over the years. Our rural firies are freaking' amazing!
Hey. I have experience with losing everything due to housefire--Tetris helps your brain process the trauma. Take video of your property now, every drawer, every closet, every thing. Document it all. Make copies of important documents on a USB, keep it in your go bag. Sleep is something I still struggle with and I still think I own something that I lost in the fire. I am so sorry, the shit is so damn traumatizing.
My erotic awakening developed for a couple of years before the HIV scare kicked in and by then I thought I was rightfully damned by my own behaviour. I never really saw beyond 40. I'm just so glad I reassessed my whole life and way of thinking by my early 30s.
Yeah, on the arson thing, some dude broke into the store I work at to set it on fire. Definitely still open, the plan is to paint over the scorch mark, but yay we're still open
Also… this is your reminder if you’re in California look up what black mustard looks like and if you see it the wild pluck it! It’s an invasive species. It’s too big and is really what’s the kindling that’s making the fires worse!
Not grant saying just give out your address… cause i literally saw the explosion 💥 of the box that Darby is talking about when I went out to my car to try and charge my phone cause my power was out and it was almost dead. I said to my mom I think someone just lit off a fire work and then we realized what it was. I’m glad when they woke up though the power was back cause on LITERALLY only my part of the street it was out for almost 18 hours.
I was born into the aids crisis (just) and my parents are not religious but I definitely did not see a future for myself when I was younger. I grew up at a time before same sex marriage, before lgbtq adoption so when I saw straight people around me making plans, I had nothing to aspire to, nothing to strive for. My teens and early 20s were wild and I didn’t take great care of myself like I should and I do think it’s a shared experience for queer people. Anyway, all ended well. I’m mid 30s, married for 10 years this July and have a beautiful labradoodle so great futures are out there.

Terrible Christian Movie the new TCM. Also I very much had the same feelings of I'm going to die young. I never thought I'd live past 17. Then 19. Then 23. Then 31 for some reason. Then after 31 I just got disappointed and felt well...now it's all I want...
Sorry I grew up in the 90s. And I did not share that experience. I knew that I was going to grow old. I am still HIV negative to this day and I’m almost 50. And no one in my life did I ever see someone cleaning services or not wanting to hug me. Because they thought I was gay and had something to give them. So I’m gonna have to disagree with That point. It was the 80s that they were mega crazy about. Not the 90s. Maybe 91 but definitely I would not put all of the 90s into that. Because that is incorrect.
"Church Redacted" LMAO
I need that on a tshirt 😂
Your commitment to the bit of pretending to have a twin is so impressive
whoa.. grant is giving straight vibes
I've never been this ravaged
This is very delta
@@micbroyo it's giving... straight
I ❤ the fact that both Grant AND Darby have the best dry/dark humor & can stay stone-faced after a joke or jab. I'd be 💀 after 20 mins of this pod! 😂
PS- TOTALLY just subscribed to the Patreon!!🎉 Only one I've ever thought of subscribing to. This is soooo important! 💜
A relief that Drew and friends ok and so interesting to get this direct insight into what happened, so frightening. Grant has great hair
Yaaay, almost 1.5 hours of twinnuendo ❤

Ikr! This pod is groundbreaking. LOVE these convos!❤
I’m still not convinced y’all are not both Darby acting 🎭 😂
100% parent trap split screen situation sometimes when they're on the exact same page sooooooo much 😂
One twin gets an unprecedented Hurricane and the other gets an unprecedented wildfire.....no suspicious
No, I’m sure Darby has had Hurricanes before 🍹🍹🍹🍹

My boys are looking good today. Not gonna lie

Stay safe, Drew! Neither you or alexis are allowed to die ♡
I love this.
In this episode about devastating fires and the death of a fascist, came to comment about how hot Grant looks
i was gonna say it but i didn't want to give drew a compliment by association. he already has a hot husband so he doesn't need more compliments.
Please have Big Dipper and Meatball as guests on IMHO!! Either together or separately ❤
yall are both so cute
Church Redacted!!!! 😂
For a split second i forgot who Anita Bryant was and I was thinking Anita Baker
Yeah, on the arson thing, some dude broke into the store I work at to set it on fire. Definitely still open, the plan is to paint over the scorch mark, but yay we're still open

oh my god I thought this episode was about your dad dying.
OMG same, I got the Spotify notification and it said “ding Dong the witch is dead” so I had to come see if it was dad
May we all live Tom Higgins's legacy
Also… this is your reminder if you’re in California look up what black mustard looks like and if you see it the wild pluck it! It’s an invasive species. It’s too big and is really what’s the kindling that’s making the fires worse!
This was wonderful. It was like watching a historical podcast like The Dollop.
COLE ESCOLA for Podcast guest!! (I know they are just about to go on a well deserved haitus, but still, dream guest!). Also, RONNA & BRYAN!
Grant smartly dressed this episode 👌
Thank you for the history lesson!!!! 🥹

Not kidding, I would attend Grant’s bible study if he had one.

It's not gingham or plaid, it's Buffalo Plaid
People starting to search Church Redacted as they did with Bar Redacted.
I know what church it is if you really need to know lol

❤
1:18:33 the husband… asked for a facial expression??

Grant is so fetching!
Did the title of this video just change? Lol
The dope loft comment took me out.
17:48 after multiple unacknowledged jokes, grant finger guns and winks to the camera _ absolving any unrequited humour with confidence...lahve.
oh grant…i was unfamiliar with your game. tell angela she better watch her back.

ok so who's the gay one again?
The one with glasses ❤
Grant is looking slightly daddy today (sorry)
Pie Pie Birdie is good but Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead was better 😤
It was in response to the Viviane passing away who played the wicked witch of the west on the West End
@alblin Oh my god. I didn't know that. Okay yeah that's a good reason to change it
