Lara is Barbra's biggest fan. This is really,really hard song and she did it justice and more
I think the feeling must be mutual. I heard that Barbra said if any singer can do Yentl live convincingly it is Lara. I agree. She's pure magic.
She's not on a verge of collapsing she does that on purpose, she's a robot trust me, she did this whole Pure Concert with extreamlly difficult songs for 1:40:00 all sung perfectly, with perfect emotions and stage presents as always...

Little story between Lara Fabian and Barbra Streisand. near 2000 Barbara wanted to have the rights on Lara's song "Broken vow". she asked Lara's manager to have her phone number to ask her personally.The she called Lara. Lara pick up the phone and answer :" Hello, Here is Barbra Streisand .... " Lara thought it was a joke and ... she hanged up the phone ;-)
Broadway rendition /style . She really knows how to be in the character of the songs. Then she unleashes everything in her repertoire Apex Performer indeed. As expected, the standing ovation after the performance.
love the "Apex Performer." Will forever picture her as a lady T-Rex dancing around the stage, belting into (a long-handled) mic. 😆

I'm not totally agree that she tried to copy Barbaras voice even if of course she is influenced by her. I don't think Lara has a thin voice, in fact the opposite, if you really listen to more pieces of her. She has a warmer voice and a bottom that is really great that separates her from Barbara in my opinion. So for me this is definitely Lara fabian expressing this song in her own way. And I thinks it's the best version. Thanks for sharing!

When I heard this piece from Barbara my eyes didn't tear up but with Lara I did cry.....
Honestly, same for me. First time I heard Fabian's version, I got really choked up. I think a lot of that is due to more life lived - but mostly I credit Fabian's supernatural ability to push our emotional buttons. Somehow. It's a beautiful mystery.

it's a shame that the quality of the recording makes it sounds like her voice falters (it doesn't) (1998) Lara's parents were in the audience for their 30th mariage anniversary, and i saw people saying Barbara was too. Can you imagine? Insane. Thank you.
I believe even Barbra would never perform this live. Lara is still singing it at her concerts, I think.
I understand what you're saying about Lara singing it the Barbra sings it, but Lara isn't becoming Barbra, she's becoming Yentl, the character.
As for "this is not how Lara usually sings" well, yes and no. Many of Lara's song use a good mix of her head, mixed and chest voices, and those are the ones you've heard so far. But there are other songs that are different. I think that is one of the beauties of listening to her: the variety of styles, languages, techniques that she brings to us.
If you want something else thats really different from what you've seen look up her duet with Johnny Hallyday.

Ah Lara, better than Barbara Streisand who was tremendous, but that performance was simply out of this world. You were our little secret! It was our selfish joy to hear you over all the radio stations in Mtl. when you were still unknown, thirty and more years ago. So glad that that talent is being recognized even if so many years later.
