    This is clearly the most fun you’ve had recently. The music is some of the best and most interesting you’ve ever done. Your vocals are spot on. When you said you could go forever… it really sounded like that.
    Amazing!!!
    Keep up the great work, Simon! ❤❤❤

      You shouldn't need to do that, there's a little screw near its base which can be used to adjust the pressure, full pressure is usually too much

    Great video, I've had lots of fun with one of these as well -- its *definitely* worth trying out some equalisation on the recordings (it responds much better if you reduce the bass) mainly to avoid skips, also if you want your discs to have a little more 'fi'. There are a few good tutorials around on YT I think.
    Also if you run out of discs, you can flip the cutting needle 180 degrees and use CDs instead!
    Love what you did with the samples as always 👍

    grind the needle down , experiment with shapes of the tip and pressure. try lighter fluid or turtle wax as a lubricant for cutting

    I wonder if it would work with Xrays sheets, like the USSR bootlegs

    • @rthoulouze
      @rthoulouze 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried, it worked. It has horrible surface noise though. Cutting CDs works better (although one I made skips a lot for no apparent reason).

    Love the music!
    - It would be fun to run the output back to the input while recording. Could make like a vinyl delay type thing maybe.
    - I wonder if the writing needle can be disengaged from the part that moves it while recording. Then you could make a lock groove maybe.

    I’m genuinely surprised no one has made something like this, but for producing full size vinyls. Sure, it would certainly have lower quality than a press & have damn expensive proprietary hardware, but still, it would be nice just to have the option, so we can make vinyls made-to-order and gain a bit of independence from the bulk ordering barricade

    This has a lot of potential. Especially since you have the record playing keyboard. You may have the ultimate lofi setup. I was thinking about dubplates when I saw your first video, but this is really cool. I've never priced professional record presses or cutters, but I imagine that the machines that are left, are extremely pricey. Maybe someday in the future, a company could design a machine that allows hifi record cutting or pressing, for a reasonable price. Then you could decide how lofi you would want the sound to be. I think a lot of people would buy it, if it wasn't thousands of dollars.

    That's cool. Even just getting a sample of that and playing it through a DAW in tune would be really cool. I'm thinking that if you record your voice just doing a straight "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" sound for as long as you can on one note, that would sound cool. Maybe do it as high as you can so you can slow it down and it'll last longer. They do actually sell a pedal now that gives you record player effects but this is WAY cooler. Just the distortion and the slight wobble. It's great. Now I want one.

    Good you recorded on some prerecorded Vinyl, that's what I wanted to see. It also would be interesting to see how it works on a sanded and polished record, ready to take new sounds xD

    At the end of the day this thing still sounds better than a Crosley Cruiser and its no-name clones. ;) But seriously, too bad the stuff of Gakken is always ridicously overpriced when you get that stuff imported (IF someone actually sells it somewhere). It's like the Lomography of Audio gear. I really like the concept of this thing. Reminds me of the early Musique Concrete works by Pierre Shaeffer in the late 1940s. He too used turntables to record and loop his sounds before he used magnetic tape, samplers and synthesizers.
