Good video, friend. Thanks. I have to prepare my 40 year-old decks for Colean sealant. I am tempted to use a jet-washer, then sanding a little as the decks are so tired anyway, and Colean is my last card to play. Nothing beats a jet-washer for cleaning old decking, but it is hard on the teak, i accept, but this is the last time I will have to clean them, I guess.
Perfect information as I am going to tackle my swim platform this week end. THANK YOU! Question - What do you do if the black caulk is coming out in a couple places? What type of filler/caulk would you recommend for the repair? Thanks again.
Best videos I've seen yet, thanks Trevor. Our Grand Banks has teak decks, which we love, but worry they are too far gone to recover. Any advice on when to walk away? Many thanks.
+Colin Johnson When you start to see fiberglass is when you need to get worried. You can always recaulk/replace & bury bungs (a lot will start to pop out if you start to get thin).
Hi Trevor, Great video (s) good to see how professionals back East do these jobs. I do have a question... With the teak in such good condition but just dirty why not choose to use teak cleaner? That would clean the dirt out and raise the grain, so sand 80 or 120 grit and move on to oil?. Thanks.
Alain Pascal Routhier I tried to address this in the video, the owner wanted the boat looking as good as possible. Even though it wasn't the "best" thing for the teak, it did get it looking as good as possible.
Thanks for the video. Question for you though. What is the highest grit paper you finish with. I had assumed 320 and that's what I had been doing on outside teak furniture. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. thanks
Hi, how do you know if the teak needs to be sanded or just refinished? Will a top coat bring back the color or does it need to be taken down to the raw wood to get the color uniform? Thanks.
best if you ??? its time to change sand paper use a wire brush an go over the sand paper it will remove the sh-t on it it will last longer ...just say'in
Wow the sanding made it pop nicely. Good work.

Great video. As its been a few years, do you have a recommendation for a new sander or technique? Thanks in advance

Hi Trevor, great video, after you send it do you seal it at all or just leave it the way it is?
Hi, great video! I have a question, how often do you chance sandpaper?
