No the highlight was the genuine guitarist playing the strat. The electric one dummies. The white guy stood across the room. Ed can’t play that fast for shit. Dylan wrote it, jimmy smashed it. Hopefully this would of taken some new people to the great original versions. This is really shit. Shows the state of society
the way Ed looked at Devlin when he said "my new single" was priceless. Ed should do a cover of thes song on his own, love the vocals & guitar riffs at "barefoot servants too"

what a trio! all so talented in different ways.... Amazing song, so far my best for 2012, love this one more then the original. And why so many haters, always!!! Pathetic
Gettin old, but still one of my favourit colabos ever. Represent true music. Rock, Rap, true artists, studio session. Just true love for the art of music. How fkn awesome would it be seeing those guys making a song today 💥
Well said mate. I'm sick of these so called classic music fans, who think that if a musician remakes a classic song, its automatically 'ruined', without even giving it a chance. Plain ignorance
As a guitarist who loves Jimi Hendrix, and a vocalist who loves Ed Sheeran, and is inspired by both of them, I really like the rap verses in this song, I think it's a nice extension of what the song's lyrics. The lines are hard as hell, and I really like his performance. My favorite version of the song is easily still the Hendrix version but sometimes I feel there are too many guitar solos in his version and not enough focus on the lyrics. I like how Delvin's version focuses more on lyrics, because the lyrics are pretty hardcore, both the main lyrics and Delvin's added lyrics. And don't forget this is Delvin's arrangement of the song, it was his idea to do this. Delvin brought on Ed Sheeran to do vocals for his cover, not the other way around. Ed probably wouldn't have thought to even do this if Delvin didn't ask him to be on the project. But if you feel that strongly about it, there are versions of this song with no rap. Here, knock yourself out. th-cam.com/video/fpINXELRbFo/w-d-xo.html
Ed makes all kind of music so perfect!! I wanna see him do one rock or alternative album, I mean all song for one album. But what he is doing for each album is so variety, difference and so.... Ed!!
Haters gon' hate. This is amazing. I love the way Dev looks like he's being attacked by wasps. Ed looks adorable with a bigger guitar and singing is of course spot on as usual -3 and Lab produced this and it's great. Wrong Direction ftw -3
This beat is sick and Devlin raps about real shit; why is everyone complaining? Oh yeah its because you thought you were so sick in school just cos you knew who Jimi Hendrix was... grow up
He's saying its his new Single release its not his song an we all no that. I LIKE IT just dont repeat everything Ed says Rapper Dude except for 'All along the Watchtower that sounds mad
@@cameronangel5090 3:34 he literally says the line you were complaining about him not saying, people sure can knit pick without really listening, this cover is great for what it is, a new vision of a beautiful classic, dope.
If you don't like this song, don't listen to it. I honestly didn't like it, but listened to it a few times because of Ed. After it played 3 or 4 times, I began to appreciate the other parts too. Lovely song!
@@M17_Max nah he didn’t but he brought his vision and creation to life through a classic we all love, it was different and should be appreciated as a new song because it was a brand new collaboration.
Being someone who listens pretty much only rock music (my iTunes contains 95% rock and related genres) - I rate this version a lot. Devlin is actually a great rapper with some amazing messages, he doesn't just talk about drugs and the women he's f*cked or the cars he got; he's real. This cover is fantastic as it brings genres together instead of keeping them apart and I'm sure Dylan and Hendrix would have welcomed that.
Devlin has seriously done very well with this one, gave me shivers down my back. they've taken a truly good original by Jimmy Hendrix and absolutely smashed it. sounds sick!!!!!!!!
Things I remember after watching this video: -Labrinth is in the back but doing an awesome job. -Ed Sheeran is awesome. -DEVLIN IS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL HIS UNCONTROLLABLY FLAPPING WINGS
People say that they don't like a cover of a classic song... All Along The Watchtower was my dad's favourite, and I know he'd love this too. The best thing about covers is if you don't like the new one, you'll always have the original. It's the same for film adaptations of books- you don't like the film, you've always got the books to go to :)
Kyle Norcliffe Devlin is more lyrically inclined then anyone in that recording booth. That’s saying something when the booth also includes Labyrinth and Ed Sheehan.
some songs just should not be covered, some songs are perfectly good the way they are, this was one of these songs. These three have proven me wrong, they have not only covered but they have modernised it, made it there own, taken a perfectly good song and made it into another equally as good song. I don't like Devlin, nor am I a massive fan of Ed Sheeran, but this is a great song and it is very well done. People who don't like it, grow up and enjoy!
Liking the drop in at 3:12 with the rap and harmonies "Take away the treasure of a man convinced that he holds heaven in his hands, even though I ain't religious I'm a little superstitious. Maybe there is a promise land."
Such a shame that people stay stuck in their stiff vision of "respect for the classics" and can't stand any idea of style crossovers. I'm sad for you guys, you might not feel the true passion for music.
You aren't by a long shot...this thing shouldn't work, but it does...people dont want to hear this, but if Hendrix were alive today, he would have rap overlays and autotune and sampling and all that...I guarantee he would
Brian Raney Hendrix didn’t even write the song, he did the best version but Bob Dylan originally wrote the song. They need to stay away from classic songs if all they’re gonna do is change the verses and add rappers on it. It takes away the original and feeling it gave.

Labrinth is providing excellent back-up vocals making Ed sound even better, he's also adding little notes too just for effect.
I am old, but I liked it a lot, new way to give life to it.. to riders.. They make the old and the new fit together.
This is one of the best covers ive ever heard quite frankly because its totally different, but alot alike at the same time.
I love Dylan's original, I love Hendrix's cover, and I love this one.
They're all great!
I love the look that Ed gave Devlin when he said "my new single"
Dat look. xD
that look was priceless!
Lmfao his face
i cried lmfaooooo
Ed clearly doesn't like him lmao
Who is watching in 2024?

It is devlins single featuring Ed sheeran lol it’s a fair statement to make but yeah his face was like, bruh, our single come on wtf?
still fucking awesome that
Love Devlin!! Love Ed!! Love Labrinth!! Love this collab!
Ed and Devlin make a badass combo musically.
Declining is a twat

so friggin good!
not at all in good, do yourself a favor and listen to the bob dylan version and the jimi hendrix version. Now that good shit.
Devlin bringing in the planes again.
Really wish Ed Sheeran would complete cover the song by himself
Me twoo
carolina reader exact what i think...
Grant Story true but he could do this song justice the whole way through because this isn’t a rap song haha

This song has never suffered a horrible interpretation, and this is proof. From Bob, to Jimi, all the way to these 3, it'll never die.
"My new single"
I know right that song came out in 1968
I can't believe it was not specified that this song is a cover.
It’s a sample you muppet

This is Doss! Ugh Love it! Sounds amazing Live aswell as it does on the actual tune.
I like this. I like the original. I hate that Devlin called it his 'New Single.'
Retarded Camel The "original"? Do you mean the Hendrix cover, or the actual original by Bob Dylan?
Hendrix never said that was his song... This guy looks like he meant that...
Well it's not the same as jimmy or bob and it's his new song being the hint we all no its a cover of a cover but it a new cover

Ed and Labrinth sound so good together. Is there any genre Ed Sheeran can’t do?

This give me shivers.. The good kind
Devlin nailed this live performance, no idea he was this solid live!
This would have been better if Devlin would have stopped repeating what ed said but good song though x
Agreed!
Its called adlibs nigga
buzzing to see devlin in november!
My favorite thing that people always say when it's a live Devlin video is "yeah Devlin, fight those invisible ninjas" it just makes me laugh
i can't stop listeing to this oomg i love it so much

I very much enjoyed devlin, Ed and labrinth in this all together they were great.
Really? Your new single? Really? REALLY?!
Yeah man he released it about 50 years ago under the name Bob Dylan, then a couple days later as Jimi Hendrix. I guess we forgot... xD

Can you believe there is an instrumental version of this? The guy is a joke. It's basically "his new single" without him on it ha ha
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEE DEVLIN!!!
am i the only one who really likes this song??
no, most people here love the song, they just prefer the original
love this lets hope dev continues to put out top music
The harmonies at 3:12. Something else... Remember guys it's different not 'shit' aha

what you know about rap music, i thought you only listen rock
i really enjoyed this a lot.
Perfect example of how to FUCK UP a classic!
Jimi's was a cover of Bob Dylan's. It was on "John Wesley Harding" first, in 1967, while Jimi's version is on "Electric Ladyland", released in 1968.
ed's part of bob dylan's song is great but the rest is ... i dont have words for this shit
Jimi Hendrix made the song what it is..huge respect for Bob Dylan and his original version but Hendrix takes the cake

UH...You mean a truly good original by Dylan...right..?
Sheeran, Labrinth and the band are great.
Three amzing voices.
Yeah, BUT Hendrix's version is the 'Gold Standard.' Dylan loved Jimi's version so much that he even changed his own original version!
Sabía que lo había visto antes!! Larry
Sheeran did it justice but I'm not a fan of Devlin over such a classic.
agreed, He did a good job but it just doesn't fit this song.
This rapper hack ruined the cover.
@@seniorjr.9234 beg to differ I think it's siiiiiik. But we all have opinions

I love Ed Sheerans voice he should cover this song along :/
Move on don't dwell on the past. I'm 52 & I love the new stuff as well as keeping the old stuff niice on Dev
