great vid but as someone who spent weeks IRL time playing this game, I would say that there is definitely few simple and crucial tricks that weren't mentioned
1- The house guard perk is OP early game so as knights and should be rushed
2- you can hire/find good knights without spending gold by giving them any kind of land (same for council and vassals)
3- when your opponent's embarks he loses 30 advantage for a month which is a huge debuff early game (that's why the AI plays a game of tag while embarking sometimes)
    4- making alliances with children
5- a good marshal is a must especially early game, a good steward is also useful
6- giving council positions to incompetent characters can be worse than not having any
7- CK3 favors quality rather than quantity so looking to build an army with strong knights and MAA with high advantage would easily cause you to win when outnumbered
8- terrain WIDTH (This one is overlooked by most CK3 players but it plays a huge role in certain cases
9- warscore and how it works
    10- recruiting prisoners
    and more...
It's seems like a long list for a beginner plug and play guide but it really isn't, they could easily fit with in those 40 mins

Set your court marshal to train commanders. Your knights/shorveers will gain prowess an martial skill, and if your marshal has high enough martial skill, will eventually give special traits that boost prowess even more. It also acts as a recruiter of knights/shorveers. A pop up will happen and you can decide to accept the up and coming guy or not. Just click on the dude and see his stats, if prowess is 10 or above snag him. The more prowess knights you have, the more “quality” your overall army will be.

Sorry to tell you, but ck3 on console is busted to all hell, I love the game but lab42, the people who port it from pc have screwed the game since launch and has yet to fix any of it. Constant save files deleting and game crashes every 10 minutes... it's sad

38:10 would have been an ideal time to attack as you also had the defensive bonus from the castle, low on supply, and recently embarked, not sure if you would get a debuff from the river though.

Another good option to strengthen your army is to do activities like feasts or hunts, during this era troops cost glory, not gold so you can gain a ton of notoriety early by employing a master of the hunt and do a higher risk hunt. Helped me take over all of Ireland in my second generation, the only reason it wasn’t my first was because I got bit by a spider 😂

Downloaded this game on PS5 as it's currently free. I loved this guide. Quick question, why did you not need a Casius Bell for declaring wars?

    • @Strat-Guides
      @Strat-Guides  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Make sure you pick 867 start date so you can start as Tribal Government (Irish minors are all Tribal). Tribal does not need a CB to declare war like Feudal governments do. You'll flip to Feudal later, but for the early game your job is to conquer as much as you can as fast as you can, then get setup for Feudal :)

Thanks! I've managed to unite all of Ireland, but boy was it TOUGH. I fought the vikings THREE TIMES and had to battle a huge nation in england. One war with the vikings was declared on me, so I just beat them back and sued for white peace, the seconds was an offensive war, which I lost lol, and by the third war I noticed that I can murder their king with a 95% in two years, also killer his heir for good measure, and the once great vikings were led by a 7 year old girl and I ABSOLTELY DESTROYED THAT TODDLER, which got me my piece of land 😊. What was supposed to be the final war on a weakling irish guy turned out to be a nightmare because out of nowhere vikings in the middle of england with 6k troops decided to deny me my dreams and joined the war (idk how, they weren't allied), I lost the war and had to wait ANOTHER 8 YEARS for the truce to expire, so I could promptly kick their ass the second time around and, finally, earn my dominion over all of Ireland.
My twisted mind found it fun, I'll probably do it again 😢
Also if you're wondering this run was completed in 23 in-game years

Yeah I know what you mean! What I did personally is I just kept replaying and Irish start with a custom ruler until the basic mechanics felt comfortable, then I slowly branched out adding more things to the campaign. Now I feel pretty confident I could handle most challenges. It's not the most exciting way to play, BUT if you keep trying new starts all over the place, it's really hard to learn because there's so many variables. By playing the same (easy) start a few times in a row, it's much easier to get a basic foundation of knowledge

I usually wait the first year before attacking anyone because there is a lot of raiding going on that first year. Build your army and defeat the raiders first (and perhaps do some raiding yourself, even raiding your eventual target to weaken them first). Then when any potential raiders are too weak to raid you is when you start conquering.

Bought CK3 a few days ago.
First game: playing as Thurmond, Ireland, following your guide. Took over Ireland and about a quarter of Great Britain before trying a new game.
Second game: Attempted a Kurdistan dynasty. Died in twenty minutes before having any wars, after eating a poisoned plant on my Hajj to Mecca.
Third play through: Started as the Byzantine Empire and was making progress expanding east and west, but then Khazaria decided to annihilate me.
Fourth playthrough: Started as the lord of Yamama and pretty quickly established the kingdom of Arabia. I have all of Arabia south of the Abbasid Caliphate, and most of eastern Africa. When I went to invade Oman, the Abbasids went to war with me, but fortunately I had allies in Iran and Egypt, and I was pretty much rolling over the Abbasid Empire, pushing close to Kufa before they gave up the war. Everything looks to be going well. Gold rolling in, got prestige, faith, I granted a bunch of vassals so they all like me now. My leader is pushing 60 so I'm going to have my first transition of power soon (I have 11 children). Eager to see how it plays out. I'm thinking of continuing to push into Africa as well as maybe taking on the Byzantine Empire, or I could venture into India instead. I'm still very new at the game (and playing on Easy difficulty) so am probably doing a thousand things wrong. Just trying to learn something new each time I play. It's fun so far.
    Update:
... Okay, my sultan died like literally two minutes into my next time playing. Kingdom split up into like 8 pieces and I had wars everywhere. Had allies but it was all too much. Decided eh, now I know to limit my heirs. Also almost all my vassals were ambitious which I know now is a major red flag.
Now gotta pick where to next. I may try... Let's try Pegu. Start at one corner of the map. Don't need to worry about fighting on two fronts. Quickly establish one corner of the map for myself and expand however possible.

@@Strat-Guides In my 6th or 7th play through, playing as a Polish country. I'm on my third king (both lived into 60s-70s), managed two heir successions well, and have control of most of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe as well as Scandinavia. I'm not even sure how I got it. I thought Sweden was about to go to war with me, went to declare on Sweden, then realized I now controlled it. And THEN I realized my wife was queen of Norway and I was 1st in line, so I had my wife murdered, but my son and heir became king instead (thought it'd be me. Oops). But he's my ally and heir and set to inherit my whole kingdom, so my next player will get Norway anyway. Presently though I've intervened to save my son & heir from like 6 nations invading him. It's a tough war but I think I've stabilized it. Keep my son in power if I can, then continue taking over Europe.
I think I've finally got this game figured out.
