i wouldnt have thought that water and stuff printed on paper would be friendly with soap and so much water. i would have been afraid the ink would run or the paper would disolve. glad this beaut was restored and preserved!
Much dedication and commitment has gone into these restorations, where other times people would just have thrown them away. Congratuations for your commitment.
Wow! Now that was impressive! It's amazing how much nicer it looks 👀 in the end. I guess there is hope for the old Volkswagen posters that I sent you 😃
No idea why this video was suggested to me, but I watched it and it was very fascinating. Stellar work, kudos. What I would suggest to you is add a side by side comparison picture to end as well.🙂
This is amazing skill that will allow the poster to live on. On the other hand though, being a car guy, I find this somewhat wrong, like stripping a classic muscle car from the 60s and beyond of its original paint. Sure it is worn out and faded and chipped and does not stop the car from rusting further, but its as a part of the cars history as it was when it first rolled off the assembly line.
i understand what you mean. if it’s any consolation, though, the brown craft paper backing was likely a restoration measure after the fact rather than a feature of the original poster!
I have a pretty rare insert poster of Lady Of The Tropics with Hedi Lamaar and Robert Taylor that along with its pink fonts comes across as one of the most deco looking posters I've seen that isn't Metropolis. The folds have broken up Taylor's face and I'm trying to figure out what medium, from crayon to colored pencil to acrylics to work the areas. It's already mounted on foam vote. By the way, NONE of the jpegs online are this poster. There is one black and white photo with Hedi in a blazing white head wrap looking straight down on Taylor facing straight up that was used as the faces, but mine are full color. I think it would be easier to rephotograph the poster to a 100 meg file, touch it up in Photoshop and reprint it...
The print is definitely less faded after our process which made Kong appear darker than the condition it arrived in and closer to the original coloring. I will say the saturation on this video for the “After” shot was tricky and absolutely made the print appear even darker in certain areas than in actuality. Hope this helps 😊
What I've noticed at around 5:00 is that the 'after' shows that a little amount of poster was lost after restoration. Right at the lower half in the middle, there now is a big white gap where the original didn't have this. Ofcourse, it was folded and damaged over there, but now that part is just downright gone.
Cool video thanks for sharing. Got a question how or what do you use to get that nasty musty smell out of old paper, magazines , post cards, and any other antique paper. I've past up so much antique paper because I don't know what to do or use any help would be great thanks.
Thank you we’re glad you like the video! The products we use are unfortunately a trade secret 🤫 if you had a piece in mind, you could absolutely send us an email and we’d get you a quote though 😊
I actually don't mind the music. It's much better than the Amazon hold music. I'm going to guess that the bleaching agent that is used is some kind of a peroxide solution. I could be wrong but I know that peroxide is used in a lot of other restorations as a safer form of bleach
If the paper is more brittle why is it mounted to canvas? Canvas changes tension over time, it seems when it eventually does it'd tear the paper. When you find old artworks on canvas often the canvas is either too taut or loose.
I have seen company’s clean up old comics books, but never a vintage movie poster. Did you ever ruin any vintage poster before and Does this hurt the value of the poster?
Wow - you guys must have some balls to do some of these techniques on something you would consider to be so fragile but please, buy a more expensive paint roller for the glue!
This is not cleaning...is transfering the print to a new paper. To me, that loses the whole sense of restoration. Destroys the old to fake the new. Bad.
We cleaned and linen backed this poster transferring it from an acidic kraft paper backing to an archival backing in order to prevent further deterioration.
I don't know how I got here, but I now realize I'm about to embark on a binge of every video this channel has.
🥰

This looks like one of the greatest jobs in the world to have!
So amazing! The removal of the backing had me nervous LOL ! Beautiful work guys!
No kidding 😂
Great stuff!
Amazing, really. So much water! In my head I was like, how can it survive this?
Wow, this is incredible work. So skillful. I wouldn't dare touch vintage posters, I'd be way too scared
🥰
The amount of trial and error to gain the knowledge to do such work is respectable
A incredible piece of history brought back to its original glory. Great job by all involved.
Thank you!
That thing turned out amazing.
Thank you 🥰
Wow….just wow!!!! In awe of your craft! Also appreciate you bringing geekdom to life for future generations! BRAVO!
Thank you 😊
I love this channel. It is as interesting and engaging as Baumgartner, but with 100% less saltiness (which is why I spotted watching his channel)
Yeah he’s getting quite the attitude in his videos now.
I was a nervous wreck watching this. Was I supposed to feel relaxed?? Well...great job and amazing technique. I had no idea this can be done 🎉
Thank you 😂
I held my breath for five minutes & 17 seconds.😮
😂
Espectacular su trabajo, admiro su profesión, saludos desde VENEZUELA. Tienes un nuevo suscriptor.
Muy interesante la técnica para restaurar el papel 👍

Thank you 😊
Wow! That was incredible. I was biting my nails all the way until the end. Came out amazing!
Thank you 😊
Fantastic work! my father was an old time slik screener for 40s years and l collected old film posters so this was really fascinating to see.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Superb attention to detail. Well done 😊
Thank you ☺️
Wow. I’d be too nervous handling a fragile sheet of paper like that! Takes incredible skill
This is astonishing !!!
Thank you!
Mesmerising!
This work is amazing, I would pay the amount to get my babies fixed up by you if it came down to it!
Dope restoration
Thank You!
Excellent work!
Amazing process and video! 👏🏻
Thank you 😊
Such amazing work. Thanks for posting your videos.
Glad you like them!
This is fantastic work.
Thank you 😊
@@FourthConeRestoration was this a commission from the owner, or do you buy the posters and sell them on?
Always fascinating, I could watch these all day long.
Thank you :)
Amazing work !
Thank you!
Amazing job...
That was amazing!
wow..what an amazing process. I cringed throughout praying the paper would withhold the duration of process.. ..thanks!
Just amazing
encore un métier que je découvre, que j'aurai aimé exercer, alors que j'arrive a l'heure de la retraite 🤯 Absolument magnifique cette maîtrise 🎉

Shocked at how few comments this has. Great job!

Wow, eriouly stunning results! It must be incredibly satisfying when one turns out this nice having looked so bad! Liked & Subcribed!
Thank you so much for the kind words 😊

I'm a car guy as well. I know what you mean, but I'd rather have them restored than keep them "original."
O love restoration Works!
This was so interesting, I thought for sure that water or detergent would ruin the print. I was wrong.
So so good
I want to do this job!
It's unfortunate the poster was folded instead of rolled all those years ago. Great job.
For the most part, National Screen Service didn't send out rolled one-sheets until the 80s.
Please show before and after photos side by side so we can get a good comparison
Holy cow! What a difference! Well done! Will this also be repaired?
This one was just relined no restoration 😊
@@FourthConeRestoration Thank you! Hey, I have another question. Why is linen preferred versus Japanese paper?
Amazing work. I just like the old vintage look better tho 😝
Wonderful transformation!!! Great job to your team.
What size of poster is this, a French 1-panel?
This one seemed to be a French Medium which is closer to a U.S. 1 sheet

Nice work but I can’t avoid noticing that the process darkens the colours, details on King Kong are much darker than the «old» copy.
I would bet that is close to how it originally looked before it aged.
The print is definitely less faded after our process which made Kong appear darker than the condition it arrived in and closer to the original coloring. I’d love to have a restoration done on my ciros hollywood poster from 1950

Omg amazing , I could barely watch 😜😜
Kinda surprised this is worth restoring considering it's a reprint.
I always thought that water and all liquids were the worst enemy of paper. Until today.
It has to be the right paper to handle being wet. Some paper you hit it with water and it just dissolves.
I felt like the people on the bottom of the poster watching this. Scariest TH-cam video I've ever seen.
You mean the Stars of the film…
I wish I could do this type of work for a living. Unfortunately, 55 years old and probably to late to switch.
凄い。剥がす時は精神力かなり使いそう
I have an old school Mac and Me poster. It has some folds and wear. How would I go about restoring that?
If you send us an email with some photos we can get you a quote :)
@@FourthConeRestoration Thanks, I would do but I’m UK based. I’d probably need to remortgage my home and open an OnlyFans account. 😂

this poster is advertising the 1933 king kong movie. so, how is this poster from the 1950s?
This poster is a rerelease from the 50s of the 1933 film 😊
What does something like this cost?
I would love to do that job.
Wonder how much a poster like that would cost.
The spider should be framed
😂
Is there anyway to safely remove years old testers enamel paint off a cardstock vinyl record jacket?
The paint can be removed. If you'd like a quote you can send us an email to info@fourthconerestoration.com with some photos and dimensions!
@@FourthConeRestorationI sent an email twice. Both times said Mailer Daemon. Should I try through the website directly?
I am in SHOCK as to how the paper does not disintegrate with all that wet / water / cleaner
And I am also wondering what the cost of this is ..........
I have seen company’s clean up old comics books, but never a vintage movie poster. Did you ever ruin any vintage poster before and Does this hurt the value of the poster?
I mean it's cool for a museum, but I also don't see the problem with just getting a reprint.
---> *_When are you going to start restoring Comic Books?_*
Me not knowing anything about restoration: oh dear god! She’s going to destroy it with water & bleach!! 😱
❤😮
Loved the video, however not a fan of the music being added. Would prefer no music or much much quieter.
I'm always horrified watching these posters get wet 😅
That music is so annoying.
should have left it alone... no longer authentic once it is messed around with.
why does it looks worse to me? haha
Please cut out the canned music; the video is interesting enough.
Yeah, I don't like it much either. Id rather just ASMR it or whatever.
I liked it
Stop whining and enjoy the damn video
