    This early 2000s sandpaper beatline is fresh as hell!!! Whenever I hear that beat, I think of dinosaurs in this game and Jurassic Park. God, the fruits of being the last of the millennials!!!

    I know for a fact that there is a Spinosaurus in the Pirates and Hostages mission. He kinda blocks the path to a point where you probably could concievably put a Brachio Catapault or two to offer land-based assistance when you go after the ship.

    Here's a hint: mission 6. There's one lurking around near the path to the pirate base. It's guarding an artifact that proves useful in the last part.

    Senjiro, you are incorrect, Tyrannosaurus Rex was indeed capable of dishing out 40,000-50,000 lbs of force.
    This was studied by Erickson on numerous occasions on the bite force of T-Rex, stating that the feeding bit was 5,000 lbs but the killing bit would have been 5 times greater then that. Not to mention it was also studied again as well at a University where it accumulated up to 235,000 newtons, that's 52,830 lbs, clearly well beyond the 6000 lb range you where stating.

  • @SeolfurDragyn

    I've also spotted one on Mission 10, lurking around the eastern part of the jungle.

    Well, if you're talking about the normal mapping, that was done with Claytools - a software that comes along with Sensable's Omnidevice.

  • @sekneox
    @sekneox 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    well claytools is a topology independent sculpting system, while you can do some similar things to zbrush, you can do a lot of stuff which zbrush is not capable of, due to its limitation to given topology.
    But zBrush and mudbox are the better tools, they are more hardwarefriendly and easier to use.
    the omni device you need to work with claytools is awesome though.

  • @spunior
    @spunior  17 ปีที่แล้ว

    3D Studio MAX for the basic modelling, Claytools for the normal maps.

    That's a myth...spino's teeth were not hollow, nor were its teeth weak in any sense. It had to pierce through highly armored cretaceous fish as its prey, so it did require a decent bite force. the alligator gar is a modern armored fish, its scales are hard enough to be used as arrow heads, cretaceous fish were even tougher.

  • @solidSnake4580
    @solidSnake4580 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    so this how 3d studio max works cool, can't wait to get it so i can make the jurassic park survival game ever made only it will be a prototype.

  • @TrueSephiros
    @TrueSephiros 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 6000 lb bite force you speak of comes from a feeding bite which was derived from a carcas, mind you, a feeding bite is absolutely weaker then that of an actual killing bite.
    T-Rex did not "have" a weak bite force period in relation to a larger size period. It's Jaws is short, and most noticeably in all powerful jawed animals it is extremely wide.
    Erickson even estimated the 50,000 lb bite force in relation to a separate study which concluded in the same exact results.

  • @EmperorDinobot
    @EmperorDinobot 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wrong. All dinosaurs, including spinosaurs appear to have had their nostrils closer to the end of the snout. Either way, this skeleton appears to have been drawn by Fredrik Spindler. I wonder if they credited him. His Spinosaur skeletal is the best one I've found so far...

    during the whole video I was amazed, yet the resulting model has disappointed me, I don't want to sound offensive, only that the coloring made the dino look like a toy (yes, I know dinos were more than just gray, but the result was too much IMO)
    nonetheless you've got some great modelling skills dude, respect

  • @SenjiroAkechi
    @SenjiroAkechi 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are not understanding the concept I am trying to get across. Obviously a larger animal will be stronger than a smaller one of the same species but not proportionately. Muscle cross section is proportionately greater is smaller animals. That does not mean 5 foot croc bites harder than a 15 footer. A 15 foot croc may have a bite force triple its weight. But a 5 foot croc may have a bite force conservatively 10 times its bodyweight.

  • @charchadonto
    @charchadonto 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    the main difference between t-rex and spino is that spino had teeth that where desined to grab and hold prey the t-rex had teeth to crush his prey. if they would fight the rex would crushed the neck or ripped apart a leg of the spino

  • @SenjiroAkechi
    @SenjiroAkechi 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    PSI is a fairly useless measurement with regards to bite. It is simply a measure of pressure within a single square inch, thus it gives skewed, overblow view of bite strength. PSI isn't an accurate measure of bite strength. For example, sharks have high psi, but relatively feeble bite force. The normal indicator used is lbs of force. T-Rex has 6,000 lbs of bite force.

  • @TrueSephiros

    Not to mention just off the top of my head, there were two different groups who studied T-Rexes bite force. Both came to the same estimations of around 183,000 and 235,000 N. Erickson was one of those, this is no "fluke", and Rex was very capable of such a bite.
    6000 is severely underrating the bite of Rex. It was far more capable of that.

    thats amazing how they do that

  • @SenjiroAkechi
    @SenjiroAkechi 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is no evidence that it was a carcass bite as I recall. A years older 3000 lbs of force figure was however given a feeding bite flag. Even still I've given the concession that 6000 lbs isn't likely the maximum. No where did I say 'weak'. Do not confuse the suffix of 'er' on weaker to interpret that I mean 'weak' absolutely or even relatively. I only mean that a larger animal will have a proportionately weak'er' muscle action than a smaller sized specimen.

    echt cool wie die Paraworld macher die Dinosaurier erstellt haben

  • @TrueSephiros
    @TrueSephiros 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    How does this refute T-Rexes bite? An ant at it's size moves faster then a cheetah can so what's the point? Also, you are wrong Senjiro, the recorded bite force was from the animal when it was already dead. Notice that they recorded the puncture wounds from the bite and pull method, this was utilized to rip the hind quarters from the Triceratops.
    This could only be achieved when the animal was dead. As I have stated, this has been studied numerous times, 5x bite is very real.

  • @spunior
    @spunior  18 ปีที่แล้ว

    We used Camtasia to record most of the footage. The composition/editing of the video then was done in Adobe Premiere.

  • @SenjiroAkechi
    @SenjiroAkechi 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am not incorrect and at the moment neither are you. I do however have a link that expounds upon that 200k + newton figure as being far too generous as an estimation because it showed far too much of a one-to-one ratio for bite force to size. Which we know is not possible. As an animal grows larger its muscle strength is proportionately weaker. At least the 6,000 lb figure comes from a more practical test from tooth marks. Though I'm sure its not the absolute best possible bite force.

  • @VFXLtd

    2006 wow... Didn't even have my own pc back then xD

  • @TrueSephiros
    @TrueSephiros 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another thing is, muscles becoming weaker in relation to size? Jaw muscles lose almost ZERO energy in size relation, that's why larger crocodiles bite with a stronger force then smaller crocodiles.
    If your case was true, then a 5 foot croc would have the same potential as a larger 15 foot croc, however that is not the case.
    T-Rex had a phenomenal bite force, in fact, most paleontologist have agreed on the bite force of T-Rex being 5 times stronger then its actual recorded feeding bite.

    I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about Spino being a wimp ass in the dino kingdom. Newsflash: Both Rex and Spino lived about 10 million years apart from each other in different continents. There's no way they would have ever EVER fought unless Spino evolved into Godzilla or something and trekked several thousand miles of ocean without stopping to grab a bite to eat.

    Why in the world does that matter? A T-Rexes biteforce would have still exceeded 40,000 lbs easily, larger animals bite with more power then a smaller scale one, regardless of it having a "stronger" bite force in proportion to size...2,000 lbs

    Spinosaurus was in no way, as powerful as a Tyrannosaurus Rex. That is nonsens, T-Rex is the most heavily muscled giant theropod dinosaur ever discovered. Although Spino and Giga where slightly larger, T-Rex is the king in pure raw power.
    A Spinosaurus was a long veterbrae dinosaur, T-Rex was built for strength. Not to mention having arguably the most massive neck and a bite force that is stated to be over 50,000 psi...T-Rex>Spino, easily.

    While it was fun to see the model being built, I think you could have used some refrences from professional paleo-artists to get the head to look right. I realize it's a fantasy game, but still- the head didn't look right because you were missing the orbit behind the eye when you were creating the skin. You can still make them intimidating while making them look more accurate.
    I'm just offering my opinion. People like Todd Marshall are good to observe if you want the "scary-but-accurate" look.
