  • Ok so food security was a 'bit of a stretch' but growing some of your own food is something we all should do. Planting a potato in a bucket is a good way of getting into growing some of your own food and its so tasty. Turn then out, wash them, cook them, eat them.

I have a heart condition. That, plus the increasingly hot, cloudy weather we've had here in the Syracuse, New York area always beats me down this time of year.
People might say that gardeners take an extraordinary amount of joy in dumping out a bucket of potatoes they could just buy at a store, but I look to your videos for inspiration to keep on with my efforts. Thank you!

The buckets I use are ex cut flower water bucket 10" tall and 10" wide at the top, just one potato planted. They are comparatively light compared to a 5 gallon bucket probably half its weight. Great for us oldies, no sweat. Jim.

Great job, Jim! That's bigger than any of my buckets this year! I think the heat was a big factor for me.

Ok this is meant for humor. I have to ask this question. Where do you muster up the patients to wait to see the results of your labor...lol. I am biting at the bits to turn out a bucket of potatoes and I know it's not time yet. I've tried growing in buckets this year and I've had some great success' and had some disappointments. My beets, carrots, and radishes were the disappointment but my potatoes, tomatoes, celery, broccoli, and cauliflower has been my great success'. Thanks for all the videos you've made through the years.

Hello Jim. Were these some of the ones you fast started back end of January?
Beautiful results just the same. One, 3-4oz potato planted, 48oz return. Yes Sir!

Definitely found a winning variety of potato. Under ideal conditions, one plant shd yield exactly what you got. Happy Day.

Not only do they say it. They spread the lie. Fortunately there are enough videos out there that tell the truth. Jim

Had a look you can't buy them as seed potatoes?

I just had a look. Jamieson Brothers carries them in the UK and Ireland.
Not likely to find them in the US.
