I love how this scene is executed so perfectly. Everything is so precise and intentional. From the hilariously ridiculous and hammy cover and that little synchronized dance that they do in the end to the way the expressions of actors were directed even if they weren’t speaking or the focal point of the scene. The delivery of the sharp dialogue from talented actors who made the somewhat-monotonous tones interesting and impactful. The way the dancing is choreographed. The blocking, cinematography, set design. The attention the detail is so clear. I love this scene so much.
I just saw this movie last night. Love this scene and this song. I went and listened to several covers and the original after this scene. Movie was good. Some parts were ehh..but it was still a good movie. Love the super randomness of some scenes.
Exactly, couldn't say it better! I would just add one point on what makes a good move an excellent movie. The good ones you enjoyed remember the idea but the ones like this, you remember the scenes in such details many many years after watching it. Those facial expressions, the awkward dance, the polite excuse, the movements of the singers, the atmosphere of a "happy soc" hotel dinning saloon...and Rachel Weisz of course who is not even in the scene! :))
The actors in this sublime film are doing an amazing performance all the time... great disection about love, superficial love, that is shared by several couples at our current days, in this fantastic film.
Olivia's acting is cracking me up... that synchronised swinging at 1:27, the hip shaking starting at 2:14, and then whatever that is with the hip at 2:21 and the way she licks her lips so arrogantly at 2:23 ... it's mesmerising, I just can't stop watching it... Also her singing her heart out is just too precious!

Such leaders are always willing to reward and applaud the most obedient and severely punish anyone who violates the imposed rules. In order to control the destinies of society and to ensure the perpetuation of the dominant power, personal relationships are cold, psychologically and physically violent, and therefore disturbing and frightening.
