Just discovered Marc Bolan & T.Rex after watching their induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame last month! WOWZERS! I’m jealous you saw Marc Bolan live!!
So far I love the songs METAL GURU & CHILDLIKE MEN ... CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION is good, too.

When I was a kid my dad took me to his parents house a lot. Girls would knock on the door and ask to see his bedroom even though he didn’t live there, I was lucky enough to meet him a few times, he would always give me a signed album Or a book, I still have them, his parents were lovely people. I was too young at the time to understand what all the fuss was about, but I remember thinking, will I need to look like him to get a girlfriend. Sadly I’ve never looked as good as him, and neither has any of my girlfriends.

I was shocked on a saturday-morning in September 1977. My father read the newspaper and told me, that Marc Bolan was killed in a traffic- accident. For me a world broke together. Until today i hear his music and in my heart he life forever. Not only for me he was one of the greatest musicans ever. RIP and play in heaven for the angels.🎸🎸🎸🎸

As a young teenage kid I really liked Marc bolan ....my aunt took me to see his film ......unfortunately in the space of one month I saw one of the best and one of the worst live gigs ....one of the best was then an up and coming rand b band called dr.feelgood.....and unfortunately the worst was t.rex.....it WAs a real shame .....bolan was talented but used people to further his career and then dropped them like a hot stone when they became no further use to him.....a great example of this is John peel and tony visconti

Great - you just wiped out some of the greatest glam rock hit singles of the 1970's. Visconti produced the material, he didnt write any of it. Metal Guru is one of the greatest glam rock records to come out of the UK.Bolan may of leaned on Rock n Roll, but many artists have - The Beatles (early days), The Stones, i could go on, Basically, what I am saying is - your talking out of your crap hole!, as many often do on this platform. Your 2 subscriber count is probably reflective of that fact!

@@Pauls_Archive I’ll take the ad hominem attack as a badge of honour. Your argument cites The Beatles and The Stones Basing their music on rock n roll. Granted but they were not one trick ponies. They developed and changed. The TRex electric period spanned 1970-77 with very little to artistic development. That period equates to roughly the same length of time of the Beatles going from a skiffle band to producing Abbey Road and transforming music. Equally you could take David Bowie or many other peers of Marc Bolan over the same period. Now if you want to nitpick and say that Marc Bolan’s sound changed over this time I would square that on Visconti.

I saw him at Fairfield Hall Croydon in 1972 with someone else’s girlfriend (remember, Ruth?). This performance seems to lack energy and to be rather perfunctory, especially as he has a second guitarist. At his best Marc was phenomenal - but this isn’t his best.

I love TREX but this song is a rip off of another song with no CREDITS to the original composer, webb pierce... Marc Bolan SHAME ON YOU

    • @Pauls_Archive

The song your referring to is Teenage Boogie, yes very similar, completely different lyrics,
Many artists have taken songs that sound similar to each other - try Bryan Ferry let’s stick together and canned heat let’s work together, very similar!
Marc’s song is way better than Webb Pierce too - just my opinion!,

Webb pierce song teenage boogie on a saturday night, bolan even copied the guitar solo

    • @martynrudd6070
      @martynrudd6070 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Your wrong so change the lyrics and it’s your song. ??? No it’s the same lyrics anyway instead of tern age boogie on Saturday night it becomes we love to boogie he didn’t want to pay money and make it too obvious. Check out the guitar solo it’s been copied exactly by bolan. Ok doing this but give Webb some credit.

@@martynrudd6070 I’m not wrong plonker, I’ve agreed it’s very similar, but none of the verse lyrics are the same as Webb Pierce version, Bolan sings - I & We love to Boogie on the hook line in the chorus!,
Your entitled to your opinion, but don’t come on my posts dissing the artist shown!, better still, do something worth while in your 9 years on TH-cam and upload some content, instead of being a Billy no mates hiding behind your gadget and leaving derogatory comments,

@@martynrudd6070 who are you telling to give credit too?, it’s not my place to credit Webb Pierce, this isn’t Teenage Boogie by Webb piece is it? - It’s I Love to Boogie by T Rex. For all you know, Webb Pierce may be credited on Bolans record,
      Have you ever checked?
Probably not!, even so, Pierce wouldn’t be credited, unless it was a direct cover, which it isn’t, and that contradicts your point - Bolan didn’t want to pay money, so he changed the lyric?,
So how come he wasn’t done for plagiarism? If it’s a direct rip?,

He started out, with the name..tyrannosaurus rex, his friend a music producer put on his calendar. T REX.. Mark didn't like it..but later on he said, we're now going to be called, T REX name stuck, I bought most of his records, was in my last year in school , dying my hair on the front, with streaks, silver glitter on my face, mirrored sun glasses, Oxford bag, bell bottom trousers, with 32 inch bottoms, 4inch platform shoe's, ben sherman, shirt tank top, had lot's of girls chasing me round school, for kisses, quite frightening, pull on me clothes, shirt ripped, hair pulled, trying to get a piece of me, got a friend who was my, minder, who used to help me escape, fun days, was into all the, glam rockers, to many to..mention...✌. Take care 🙂 ❤
