Pro tip for anyone wanting to see GWAR live for the first time- your contacts will end up dyed red, your clothes, your skin, your hair, everything will be red. And that fucking rules.
Great synopsis- I havent listened to this album in a while, and had forgotten about Jitler, lol.
Just saw GWAR for my 20th time. Every album tells a story. Beyond Hell is probably the easiest to follow without the accompanying stage show. It is practically a track by track walkthrough of how they conquered the legions of Hell and then went back home and got high.
The comics and movies and the live performances totally enhance each album with extra details that make you enjoy them all over again. Like watching a really good movie for the second time, and you notice all the little details and jokes that you missed out on the first time.

Yo! This was the album that got me into GWAR! I got to see them for that tour and it was everything I’d want a concert to be! You’re freaking awesome for doing this dive! ❤️ totally should have done flattus and too he was such a good guitarist rip to him too

In the old Sega Beavis and butthead game,the entire game is to make it to a gwar show ,I met Dave during America must be destroyed tour ,he told me to keep the scissors in game then walk past the guard and use them on the stage curtain ,I went home ,played to the end and did what Dave told me to do,the curtain crashes down,Beavis and butthead change into leather gimp suits and gwar is playing in 16 bit in the background ,hit the button and they slam there faces into the ground ,I will never forget this memory, or my autographed when heroes roamed the earth number 1 comic

Cool video. For the Beyond Hell lineup though, there was no Pustulus. Flattus Maximus was on guitar for this album.

This album had Flattus Maximus on it. R.I.P. Corey Smoot. Great video though. Also DRT thought Beyond Hell sounded like Alice Cooper Goes to Hell and got them to do an Alice Cooper cover song.
Nah, first DRT wanted us to do "Lick It Up", by KISS... we all farted on that. There was quite a bit of discussion about what to cover, all kinds of ridiculous suggestions, as you can imagine. School's Out (as everyone knows) was the one we landed on. One of the DRT guys said he could get Alice Cooper to do a cameo in the video. That never happened, like most things DRT said. (Fvck DRT).

@@JJMetalhead I know right! It really blew my mind when I found out too because I'm a massive Townsend fan. The crazy part was that I didn't learn from finally recognizing my favorite singers voice, I learned by reading the Wikipedia page for Beyond Hell lmao.
Oddly enough in Tormentor it seems like nobody notices he's there, then bam once you know you can never unhear it. There are also some videos here on TH-cam of Devin and Gwar during this time period. They're all friends I guess. Randy Blithe was also a friend of Dave Brockie so that's pretty cool.

Great explanation of the story. Anyone listen to the New Dark Ages album? I seen the vinyl at Best buy and considered buying it, But I've only listened to the older albums.
I enjoyed it. It's definitely different from their older stuff, but that's to be expected.
@@JJMetalhead I gave it a listen. I had fun with it, It had a more higher pitched lead singer. Kind of an operatic sound.but it wasn't bad.
