Welcome to the "everyone here" category lol
One of the main goals of sobriety is to become a person that you actually want to hang out with. A person that you trust, respect and believe in.
But you have to earn it, just like anything else that's worth it.

I'm sick of feeling the need to drink again to feel better since I feel like crap from drinking the day before. But if I do, I'll feel like crap again tomorrow. Hate the cycle. Sunshine is my energy today. I wanna sit in the sun and crack a cold one. Somehow water and sitting in the sun is just missing something, but that's so sad, shouldn't be the case.

Anyhoo, my 5 enemies of sobriety are: past trauma, FOMO, certain bars I use to hang out in frequently, mistakes from the past that can never be fixed again, and certain "friends" who are really just acquaintances with a mean streak - in a terrible, terrible way. These were the five things that led me to my current streak of sobriety and it finally stuck after countless attempts.

I’m surrounded by people who have no desire to be sober and it’s the people closest to me: my husband, sons and friends. I can distance myself from friends but not my husband or adult sons. So I just have to constantly remind myself of my why: my health. Before I quit my blood pressure was very high, and my depression and anxiety were keeping me up at night. I realized I had to quit and I try to play the tape forward when I’m tempted: drinking = 3am panic attacks. High blood pressure (and I want to stay off medications).
Thank you for this video and all the content you share. It helps to watch when I’m feeling tempted.😊

*Note to self* 1. I am packing my bags for the future. 2. I am getting sober for myself. 3. The enemies to my sobriety are, old trama, brothers peer pressuring, holidays, co workers that use, loneliness. 4. I drank at home the most. 5. I drank to fill a void, to feel better, to forget about my problems, I didn't respect myself as I should have, I was bored, everybody around me drank.
I was not strong enough to say no but with the help of the lord I hope to stop

Alcohol is no longer an option for me after a long drinking career. I remember how tough early sobriety is but it’s the best thing I ever did. If I can get & stay sober, anybody can. My sobriety date is 9/1/2010. I enjoy your videos Jae, thank u

Is anyone else in their 20s or 30s trying to quit drinking? I’ve been to AA and other Christian recovery groups - but the age is usually 50s and up… hard to find similar age people. I also don’t know why that is with recovery groups.

WHO : Enemies to my sobriety: easily the guys that I date and one of my friends, ghosts (marshmallow-brain) WHAT: sadness, restaurants, hard workouts, loneliness, when: At night, holidays, weekends, boredom, argument, on vacation, first class, WHERE: breweries, liquor store, restaurant, visiting, strong enough of temptation SOBER = no longer a temptation! WHY: I am not sure why I started drinking. My desire to not admit that I have a problem. Why cannot I simply have 1 beer on a Saturday? Why do I feel like a failure that I cannot have just one beer or one glass per 7 day week? What is wrong with me? I watched the whole episode and wrote all of this. BONUS: Bad Habits! Easily: eating crap food and all of my friends drink

Ok! So I was sober for 8 nights, and then had band practice... the one that always provides whiskey. So that is my next foe. Not my bandmates, not music, but my resolve of not drinking it when it is placed in my hand. I'm on night two of being back on the road, and I feel pretty good about it. I am starting to really like being sober all the time. It's the closest I've ever felt to really WANTING to be sober. And I tried quitting for a decade, but never actually "wanted" to quit. I just didn't want to drink every day.

I believe in myself and can really feel how much I am starting to CRAVE sobriety! Go team!

There may be a 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th, but each time we fall short, we learn more on how to succeed. Sylvester Stallone said he was rejected 1000 times before anyone agreed to make ROCKY.
Just think, if we put half the energy into staying sober each day as we did being hungover and feeeling like shit for a whole work shift, days on end, we would have NO PROBLEM.
The goood news is, you only need a fraction of the energy. Just keep working on your discipline. Every good heroes montage is spent with proper time alone far removed from vices, temptations, and toxic people place and things.

Mad respect my guy! Thanks for sticking with it. Sobriety isn't always for everyone, and it's important to remember that life is all about balance.
Just like daily binge drinking isnt good for us, it's important to always know that the worst of you can always be yet to come.
Take pride in your daily maintenance of sobriety. Take pride knowing that you are putting yourself through the school of life right now, and it's not time to drop out.
There will be a day that you feel like you've graduated, but there will always be more lessons, more tests, and trials by fire.
Keep your armor ready, and your blade sharp!
