I don't know if this a legit story or not, but I'll go with maybe it is. You are under no obligation to help your sister pay for her wedding. If the tables were turned would everyone think it was James obligation to pay for yours? This is about the craziest thing I've ever heard. If Jane cannot afford her own wedding maybe she needs to reconsider getting married at all. I don't see this marriage lasting for any length of time. It seems to me it's all about the event and not the relationship. If your sister really wants this big affair she and her fiance need to save up for it.
