SLIPKNOT - First Reaction to SNUFF - this is emotionally special

  • So, I can't tell that I never heard any songs with that message or the same style, BUT HUGE BUT!!!! This song stacks in my head - it has so genuine expression of emotions... It touched me, woke up my memories of stories from the past..
I will save this song for my personal use, thank you everyone who suggested me it..
    - What I'm gonna do with you?
    - EVERYTHING.
    Lyrics
Bury all your secrets in my skin
Come away with innocence and leave me with my sins
The air around me still feels like a cage
And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again
So if you love me let me go
And run away before I know
My heart is just too dark to care
    I can't destroy what isn't there
    Deliver me into my fate
If I'm alone I cannot hate
I don't deserve to have you
Ooh, my smile was taken long ago
If I can change I hope I never know
I still press your letters to my lips
And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss
I couldn't face a life without your lights
But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight
So save your breath, I will not care
I think I made it very clear
You couldn't hate enough to love
Is that supposed to be enough?
I only wish you weren't my friend
Then I could hurt you in the end
I never claimed to be a saint
Ooh, my own was banished long ago
It took the death of hope to let you go
So break yourself against my stones
And spit your pity in my soul
    You never needed any help
You sold me out to save yourself
And I won't listen to your shame
You ran away, you're all the same
    Angels lie to keep control
Ooh, my love was punished long ago
If you still care don't ever let me know
If you still care don't ever let me know

I don't know if you caught the end when he was was removing his makeup and wig. He was the blonde woman! He missed her so much that he became her. Also, fun fact: the part where he broke the glass and cut his hand was REAL because this is such a personal song to him and the passion and pain were/are so real. They decided to keep that in the video to display that.

It’s also a lot deeper then just a girl. Paul helped him out writing it because around that time Corey wasn’t writing slipknots music. He wasn’t a song writer just a frontman. After Paul died this song became a lot more sad for him.

She abandoned him. He tried to blame himself for being so problematic, but he struggles with it a lot. He loved her so much that he couldn’t let her go after she abandoned him. So he ended up becoming her, consumed by obsession and old memories.

This song deals with a big let down from a person who was there from a bad time in his life. He thought she felt the same as he did with her and in the end she let him down. It was the push he needed to get to know who he really was and to go forward. Personal song for him and others I am sure. I like it when you pause without saying anything. I can see you working through the lyrics and doing your best to figure things out. Good job, keep going strong!

Thank you for this reaction! This is one of the 5 best songs ever in my opinion. "I still press your letters to my lips, and cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss." is the greatest line about lost love/longing that I've ever heard in song, poetry or literature of any kind. It perfectly encapsulates missing someone you lost.

This is now my most favorite reaction video. You watched the song twice, and I watched your reaction video twice. You described the deeper elements of this song BRILLIANTLY.
    4:12 - 4:26:
That's exactly how I feel sometimes. It's not the case that I'm not thinking or feeling, it's that I'm thinking or feeling so much, I can't even express it adequately in the moment -- especially if the thoughts or feelings are contradicting themself in that moment. That's the sign of a good song or conversation, though, where we can't even pretend or give some rehearsed response, we're just sort of struck silent from the magnitude of that moment.
    17:10:
"Love is not that easy to find, and to handle." Deep and true.
22:25 -- "But we go through self-discovery and in the end of this discovery, we find out who we really are." YES. 100% Self-discovery can be painful and scary, though, and I think that is why it is often avoided. Sometimes we just kind of dip our toes in the water of self-discovery to see what happens, and that might lead to the concept that you described as emotional tennis. I really like that concept a lot.
That is the source of his conflict, though, isn't it? He is seeing the truth but he is not quite yet ready to embrace it, so he uses his art in the form of this song to help him process it. You explained it so well. He wants something that scares him, so he pushes it away, and that reinforces his negative feelings. It's a vicious cycle, a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Wish I could reach out and give this guy a hug and let him know there is light on the other side of all of this. It comes from believing in yourself and others, and not expecting yourself or others to be perfect, and focusing on what is good and focusing on love and not just hurt. Acknowledging the hurt is there but not dwelling on it to the point that it takes too much of your time away from other things, and then ultimately finding ways to use it as a fire -- not to burn yourself and others by letting it rage uncontrollably, but rather to use it as rocket fuel to propel you in positive ways.
It is ALL energy -- love and hate and hurt and hope -- it's just a matter of taking it all and using it in a positive way.
Like any fire, it can burn you and those around you, or it can cauterize the wounds. It all depends on how you use it.
He took off his mask for this one, literally and metaphorically, and I appreciate it so much when others do this, because it makes it easier for us to take our own masks down.
That's what true art does, I think, even though it ironically sometimes comes in the form of a mask; and then perhaps a mask being taken down. It allows us to discover deeper parts of ourselves, during the discovery of the deeper parts of others. It is truth through art, because true art is simply honest self-expression. What is more noble?

Surely i prefer this kind of drama than their death metal ! It was from the Movie " Eyes Wide Shut " by Kubrick i didnt try so hard to understand a story, in the end i ve reached deep meaning and morality you drew for everyones ( now i'm stronger than yesterday..😉) . You are so sensitive to share feelings that you feel relating to something you experienced in your past, that 's wonderfully done You⭐! I'm convicted from a long time you are the true force , reflection and light of this your channel , not artists and songs, this makes the difference with others ! Whenever you can, react please to group Seether, song Broken ( live) , it worths for lyrics too 🤟🙋‍♂️

Think about these three lines from three separate parts of the song, now put them together: "If I'm alone I cannot hate, You couldn't hate enough to love, You refused to fight"
It sounds like he had problems, maybe problems with rage, she was trying to help him but she couldn't endure his rage and hate enough to truly love him. He would fight a lot but she didn't want to fight so she left him.
"Love is just a camoflage for what resembles rage"

I wish you could sing me to sleep every night! You should react to pierce the veil "stained glass eyes and colorful tears"!

You should try to listen another life motion picture collection from motionless in white with kerli (that version is more melodic than the original) is a beautiful and sad song.

If u like this style of this slipknot? you should check out Corey Taylor's other band Stone Sour. I think you will enjoy the music much more. "Song #3" or "Through the Glass". You will be hooked.
Btw, I think the way you say snuff is very cute 😍

@@jcr13692 Taylor co-founded Stone Sour with drummer Joel Ekman in 1992, playing in the Des Moines area, and working on a demo. He joined Slipknot in 1997 to replace their original vocalist and has subsequently released six studio albums with them.

If you still care don’t ever let me know. That’s the lyric. I interpret that as he knows they are bad for each other. If you still care don’t ever let me know. Not go. They already broke up. He’s just asking her to acknowledge that to him to make it real.

I’m probably really late, and this might have been said before, but you really should react to Corey Taylor Snuff (acoustic version).. Corey Taylor is the lead singer for Slipknot and Stone Sour, and that song is a very, very personal song for him.

Is that Malcolm McDowell? I've heard the song so many times, bought the CD way back but never saw the video until now and he's in it?

Check out this live version where the singer's on a stage and the crowd sings along... should definitely react to this one as well.
