signal6000 Your not lying.. this game consumed my childhood .. trying to beat it, even WITH Game Genie. But i made it to the end eventually.... but i couldn't figure out the final doomsday password for The Life Of ME!!! Until i found out on youtube years later that the password is given at the end of the previous stage lol. Because i used a stage skip password to the final stage so i wouldn't have known about that. Because i couldn't beat the previous stage either 'that boss was darn near impossible to kill without the floor falling out first'.

For some reason I loved this game. It kicked my ass as a child, I even damaged controllers, but oh boy, the feeling, the satisfaction when I completed it... priceless. And people say, Contra is difficult... no, this is difficult. Just unfortunately, this game is not very well known.
Ádám Pajor That's what am sayin' , this game a gem, especially for the prime nes early 90's days and i would have beat the game if i knew the dooms day code. But your a beast for beating the stage 4 boss ninja that disappears on the breaking floor before it all breaks apart.
Wheatman 420 lol me too, and couldn't figure out the last stage ending computer password for Nothing! because i used a password to skip to the last stage (which skips the scene part of the game that gives you the password).
Unrelated, but I remember playing Ape Escape with a childhood friend. He was later forced to move away and change schools due to constant bullying. That fact made me snap and finally confront said bully, beat them up and tell them I was done with their shit. By some miracle the bully later came to apologize and asked if we could be friends. Maybe it's the nostalgia (or the alcohol) in me talking, but I feel oddly... reminiscent. Maybe all the memories aren't so bad after all.
@@seriousspikesam7770 That's the thing about bullies. They usually relent when you fight back. It's when you try to evade them that they keep pestering you.
This game was very, very far ahead of it's time IMO. The levels are massive and complicated, really unlike anything else on the NES. And there wasn't just one linear path through each one. You had to come up with your own strategies to try to get through them. Some of the switches you need, and some you don't, so not only did you need to know how the levels were laid out, but you also had to weigh the risks of using them. And the abilities of the different characters opened up shortcuts, so you had to put a lot of thought into how their health should be rationed out. Yes, the game is incredibly hard and unforgiving, but the trial and error aspect is important to the experience too. This is from an era where it was expected to take months to complete a game, and anything less than that was a rip-off. If you really wanted to have the bragging rights to complete this one, you really might spend weeks and weeks of trial and error to map out each of these sprawling levels.
"how to ration health" Yeah, me and my buddy when we were ten "no, don't get that first aid kit!--come back after you use character xyz to get through obstacle xyz...."
@@Phantom.Gaming64 Yeah definitely well said. It did take a couple months! Luckily my older brother discovered the hidden opening 30:52 in the green wall level where the stage seemingly repeats itself. He did this by punching the walls out of frustration. This patience he may have developed from the Nightmare on Elm Street game on PC.
Remember spending countless hours with this one as a kid. The music is one of the keyfactors for me in this game, really memorable and catchy. Great great game!
If it was difficult for you, imagine for me: a child who didn't know any English, who lived in Brazil in the 90's, at a time when there was no internet access. I just wandered around the sets not knowing what to do.
My dad gave me his NES when I was in Middle School, that was on 2004. That was my first game console (and the only one!). When everybody on school was talking about Game Cube, PS2, NDS, Advance SP and all that, I talked with my best friend If he could borrow some NES cartridges (I only owned SMB, which was my first addiction). SMB3, Megaman 2, Rollergames and Mission Impossible were my favorites, thanks to my friend. So... being a 2000s guy, my childhood games are all from the 85's / 90s!
Hi, everybody! I’m from Russia. I played it when I was a schoolboy about 20 years ago. At that time I and all my friends weren’t really good in English that is why it was very difficult (completely impossible) to pass the first stage (unfortunately, we didn’t have the game with Russian subtitles or translation)… I took the dictionary and start to learn English in parallel with playing the game… It was not easy, but I did it. I gone through all stages and reached the last level. I played on the old TV in a gray mode (I didn’t have a good color TV), that is why after the conversation with a boss (1:01:00) I couldn’t find “the red wall” to destroy it… how could I found a red wall if I played in a gray mode??? (blue, red, grey - everything was similare to me... everything was the same :)))) This “mission” was really “impossible” for me :)))) I was really disappointed, because I was the only one among my friends who could reach the last level! Nevertheless, I liked this game! It is really cool! It is one of the best 8-bit games… one of the most difficult… one of the most exciting!!! Thanks a lot to the author of this video!!! Really nice walkthrough!!! Now, I know the end of the story… I know, that 20 years ago I was too close to make the Mission POSSIBLE :))))
Same experience for me, i was a kid and i didn't understand english (i'm from Spain), but i loved this game! played it until the last stage and never could pass it....until years later! One of the best games on the NES!
Man this game freaked me out so much as a kid. All those faces staring at you, and the deaths and animations. The music. I really, REALLY shouldn't have been playing this game as a kid I felt. It's a freakin major blast to see this now, and played by someone who actually knows what they are doing.

I remember this game, it was awesome, hard, challenging, I loved the music and I think it is horribly underrated.
Awesome game! I still have my copy from when I was a kid. Don't remember why I stopped playing it, though. Never beat the fourth level. It had taken weeks to master the third level. But that's what's great about these games: if you could beat it, you mastered it. Thanks for the nostalgia!
thisisJim85 I HATED the ski level XD And could rarely get to the final computer, let alone beat it. The game can be hardcore especially when you lose a character. But other than that, it's got nice gameplay, music, challenge, etc ;)
This game was really impossible to finish but so so so much fun to play. Lil bit scary with the cool music and hard missions. This game was so deep and way far than other games. Even now if you play it you will love evry second of it. This game was the first game i bought for my MicroGenius and had no idea how hard and addicting it was. I played it for 4-5 years and never finished it. But i always wanted to go ahead and complete the missions. I love this game. So love this game.
I had completed this game in my childhood. One of the few NES games I was proud to complete. But my version of the game had a pass code system and after beating each stage, the game would give pass code that could be used to enter the new stage directly. Btw I loved the music of 3rd stage. I used to just stand somewhere safe and listen to it
The fact that the game had no save option made it absolutely frustrating. I could never get past the two giant claws and would have to start from the beginning of the section over and over again. I even tried using one of those "Game Genie" things -- still no luck. I even called the Nintendo Hint Line (which was one of those "900" pay-per-call numbers). All the CSR said was "That's why they call it Mission: Impossible". I gave up on it and ended up putting the game cartridge under my car's rear tire and s-l-o-w-l-y backing over it. It felt absolutely wonderful. :)
I remember this one... I must have been less than ten years old while I was playing this. I never figured out how to turn off the water valve so the corridor would always flood and kill me. I barely understood any English so I mostly spent my time wandering around and seeing how far I'd go. Usually not very far. Come to think of it, I might still have the cardridge lying around. I had to sell most of my games but I was allowed to keep a couple of them. Now if I'd only remember where we left Action 52... that cardridge would be worth a fortune these days.

here's a strange bit of history, I bought this game in 1996 brand new from a Walmart. I think it may have been reprinted just after the mission impossible movie came out or was announced because I remember that's why I bought it. Game had great music, graphics and control but was just was too hard for me at the time. I might give it another shot someday for bragging rights
I was looking for this game for a long time, there was another that people looked like this but they were bigger. But I don't remember what it's called. if anyone knows help please.
It's so cool though. You know, if you try the Japanese version released by Masiya, they changed it to have sharper controls and removed a lot of the more obtuse points of difficulty to tone it down into something that, while less impressive in difficulty, could be finished with just fast reactions and a bit of strategy. The difference is like night and day.
BigBangBlitz Underrated, not well known game. Hard as hell, finishing it is satisfactory! Remember how high my heart rate was when I was close to the finish of the game. As a child. And the cracking sounds of the controller. Holy shit.
who else think the music is eerie in certain areas also i am not knowing there is a tv version existed way before 1996 movie which features more spy elements than current movie release do
Is this longplay played on an emulator? I have the Pal version. Also wonder if anybody knows if there any difference between the PAL and the NTSC release? Thanks!
I had this game as a kid, and my father played it just enough to beat and never touched it again. I don't blame him. I hardly ever made it through the first level.
This is how I feel about most newer games nowadays. Everything is about graphics and very mediocre gameplay. I've had more fun playing all these NES games for the LPs than just about any video game I've played on PC or console in the past 9 years.
One of the hardest game ever. And one of the best. Good old days. Amazing game

I was looking for this game for a long time, there was another that people looked like this but they were bigger. But I don't remember what it's called. if anyone knows help please.
This was my fevr8 childhood game
thank you for sharing . child memories
Honestly this game is a fun watch.
Could not even get past the 1st hurdle as a kid
Pops couldn't get past the third level lol.
I hate how the enemies be in the same room with support as they stand there
I've only managed to pass first level and gun boat stage when I was a kid. It was achievement for me because my friends didn't.
Спасибо...я её очень долго проходил на чёрно - белом телевизоре.
I think I died at least a million times before I managed to defeat the stage 3 boss. I did it by accident, causing him to fall into the void.
Brought back amazing memories -- except the last 15 minutes (I never made it that far as a 12 year old). Well done, though....expertly beaten.
Thank you,
This is one of those few games where you actually feel satisfied with the challenge at the end.

Que recuerdos! Vencer al ninja por primera vez es muy dificil. Ya despues lo complicado es vencer a los tipos con lanzallamas.
Nostalgia factor is of the charts😁
So did Wargames rip this plot off of an old Mission Impossible story, or the other way around?

Good question and I don't think anyone has cared to look up the answer still.

How did he know the code?
I feel like the 1st level boss killing himself is cutting you a break because its damn near the longest 1st level i history.
He is actually killed by the final boss for revealing Dr. O's location. But yeah, it's pretty lame. XD
musics are top notch this game traumatised me as a kid
my childhood....i play this and bomberman...nostalgia.
well if its hard its called mission inpoposopal for a reason
Nice. Completing NES games are a challenge for me still.
You should try Impossible Mission.
The game no-one played that everyone should have.
BigBangBlitz Underrated, not well known game. Hard as hell, finishing it is satisfactory! Remember how high my heart rate was when I was close to the finish of the game. As a child. And the cracking sounds of the controller. Holy shit.
it was because of the ending level part bgm background music
Had this game, but I never beat the last stage. Kept getting dropped into pit during the second part of the moving stage.
who else think the music is eerie in certain areas
also i am not knowing there is a tv version existed way before 1996 movie which features more spy elements than current movie release do
One of my first games as a 7 year old kid, fond memories even though I could barely play it 😂
Is this longplay played on an emulator? I have the Pal version.
Also wonder if anybody knows if there any difference between the PAL and the NTSC release?
Thanks!

I had this game as a kid, and my father played it just enough to beat and never touched it again. I don't blame him. I hardly ever made it through the first level.
Hotline miami lol
This is how I feel about most newer games nowadays. Everything is about graphics and very mediocre gameplay.
I've had more fun playing all these NES games for the LPs than just about any video game I've played on PC or console in the past 9 years.
0:52:29 all the frustration i had with those robotic arms and you could simply shoot them ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME
i coudnt get past them either they sucked back then.
how hard it was... an is
so many good and bad memories ((((:

The old days when you pressed start and you had to figure it out yourself
Ah childhood memories,,, Stuck and stop playing at 27:48
Where did you get the fokin codes!?
