looks like fun i wish and makes me want to play my nes again so many games i missed out on i had good games for the system but had plenty of awful ones
Freakin awesome game. I remember playing and beating this game when it came out. Now when I try I cant even get pass the third stage. These old games are tough. You sir are a great gamer.
for over 26 years, I remembered this music, but I never knew what game this was. My cousin's neighbor had this, and I never knew the game title. That is crazy how VG music sticks with you for decades, even if you don't know what Game it is from.
It took me until 2022 to finally get around to playing this. I never understood how to play for years until I finally just read up on it. Cant believe I waited so long.
12:47 the quick way to defeat this boss: Run all the way to the end of the room and let the bats chase you, turn and just hold up to use the Potion of Levitation. The bats will just run right into the sword and kill themselves. No need to attack each individual one. Then the big boss will come down, keep holding the up button. He'll damage you a few times, but if your health is high enough he'll kill himself just like the rest of bats. That goes for the ghosts too.
One of the very first NES games I ever set my eyes on and played back in 1988 or 89 (even before SMB!) in my local mall. This game will always hold a special place in my heart, it was so ahead of it's time via graphics, music and playability. Even the sequels were great too and it's a crime after Wizards & Warriors 3, we'll never ever know what happened to the knight Kuros!!! There are so many fan-made NES games made on pc and I wish there would be a remake on this (but how do you already already make a remake on a perfect game?!!) or atleast a final game of the series to tell us what happened to Kuros?!! This has and forever will still have a mass army of fans (like myself ) who are still devoted to the series/franchise to a game remake calling that may never ever come...
I bought this game at a local retro game store, at first I didn't know if it was good or not. I tried it and its pretty damn fun. Wish I was alive when this came out
zachary hammersmith I was 10 when this game came out on Nintendo. I remember playing the shit out of this game was super fun . Watching this play through brings back my youth .
+William Vieira Ramos Good to know, thanks. I'll be adding the soundtrack to my radio station I created a few days ago, with tags: eightvirtues.com:8000/stream There are only 300+ songs now but I'm adding more every day. Getting all the tags in order is a pain. :)
I have an XboxOne and PS4...... I'm 39........ And the NES is still THE console. That plus Goldeneye, MarioKart64, and Mario Party on the N64. Glad I've grown through the ultimate era in gaming.
My hat's off to you for dispatching Malkil with such ease, not to mention clearing the whole game with no Game Overs. I have no troubles with bosses the entire game until I get to Malkil. Respect!
+Dolly Cakes Wizards & Warriors should one day make a come-back, I mean if people know much about Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins should take a very good look at Kuros from Wizards & Warriors, he is indeed The Ultimate Imitator & True Rival to Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins for different reasons.
One of the greatest games on the NES ever. I freaking loved this game. I played it to. My thumbs were sore. I loved the music. I loved everything about it. It's just a masterpiece
I remember about in 2010-2012 I'd play this game every once in a while on my NES, any my mom was always great at this game, she could get to the last level without dieing, which I never could achieve on my own lol
I was trying to think of what this game was called the other day. It just popped up in front of me on here. I wish I was a little kid again, ignorant to the suffering and corruption in this world.
You know you can kick open the chests with the boots of force, right? Not sure if you're 100%ing or something cause you missed a few keys, but just for anyones reference!
How to beat the final boss super easy: just wait in the lower left corner of the room. He'll only appear in one of three spots when you're in that position, all of which are easy to score hits and defend yourself from. You'll have to be patient since he'll also appear offscreen a lot, but he can't shoot his projectile offscreen so he isn't a threat when he does.
Just beat this game for the first time since i was a child. the skeleton and wizard at the end are tough as shit. still love the game though! IronSword is next!
i beat it when i was young but i did use this video to find the hard items, it was only two things though that i had to use it to find due to forgetting, lol. back then you had to guess it, unless you had the power, Nintendo Power! lol
I'd honestly let Wayforward develop a remake for it. They have done some great stuff with retro and 2D side scrolling games. I think they would respect the series.
This game was called Wizards and Warriors in regards to Dungeons and Dragons. As I recall the Rod of Wonder, Shield of Protection, Knife of Throwing. Those are ALL items in D&D. Doing exactly what they did in this game back then in the tabletop. Protection from projectiles, a throwing weapon returns, the rod does weird shit to things or zaps enemies but I believe there is something you can hit with it in this game and it does random-ish stuff to it. Was it gems or potions? Can't recall really but boots of force gave a bonus to "kicking in doors" and gave you a kick attack that did damage. I'm not sure if the game itself was meant to be Dungeons and Dragons but they couldn't get the license for it but it's chalk full of references to the classic tabletop game.
I was not expecting the sounds and music to zap me into time so hard. Jeez....I literally had flash backs off putting alcohol and even cologne on a q-tip and cleaning the cartridge trying to get this to start up. Blowing in the cartridge. And then finally SUCCESS!
when I'm jumping rooftops in playerunknown I remember how hard parkour was in this game. lmfao. that theme song is pure metal. sends chills. I miss 1987
Oh man, I love this game!! The first NES game I ever beat... about... six years after it was released xD! My brother and I played this like crazy back in the day.
Cool vid. I only played the Game Boy release through (The Fortress of Fear). Never paid much mind on the NES releases. Maybe this one to World 3 or something. Looks great. Maybe I was too young back then.
He's after the Princess in the final level, dude. Kind of this games equivalent of "Thank you, Mario (or Kuros in this case), but our princess is in another castle!"
Hero: "Well, Lucinda, I have freed from suspension as you lay on your knees, half-dressed and grateful for being rescued..... Well, you're on your own. I'm off to rescue someone else. Hope you find some food and your way home. Byeeee."
I'm not as familiar with the original W&W and it has been a while since I played it now. I had Ironsword growing up as a kid and that one required a ton of jumping skill to even make it past the damn cloud stage so it translated well to the first game. :) ~JagOfTroy
The speed and tempo of the music is a bit different. Its especially apparent during the super potion and rescued princess songs which both play longer than they do in the American version.
There was an NES game that was similar to this, but it was martial arts themed. You were a guy jumping through trees and stuff but you had a pair of sai instead of a sword. I forget what it is called though
Put the cartridge in the NES, put your finger in the indentation, wiggle it a few times, no more having to blow on them :) We all thought it was because the contacts were dirty.. 99% of the time it was because the game wasn't seated correctly, and this wiggling trick fixed it almost every time
I can't believe I just watched the whole fucking hour. I played this back in 1989 and I have it in emulator just for nostalgic purpose but I don't feel to play it now cause it's a bit difficult. Anyway Thanks for posting this.
This game is such a classic, fantastic music
looks like fun i wish and makes me want to play my nes again so many games i missed out on i had good games for the system but had plenty of awful ones
its strange, that game has never been revamped. the sounds are very cool. the 2. part is still good, the 3rd...not so
I especially love the Boss music
every track is great
I played this game so much, that first level song started stuck in my head forever and I still love it.
Oh man the memories. Remember how excited you were to find a chest with a rare item?
My favorite NES game. Everything about this game was awesome and fun
I always loved that start up music, it always sounded so EPIC! Surprisingly good soundtrack for this old game.
Thou hath discovered a great game.
For thou wants to make a comeback.
I understood that reference.
My Childhood. It took me forever to remember what this game was called.
I had to Google game with lava boots and tree doors.
me2

Intro is the ringtone on my phone. That’s how awesome this game and music are.
Freakin awesome game. I remember playing and beating this game when it came out. Now when I try I cant even get pass the third stage. These old games are tough. You sir are a great gamer.

Playing this since 80's 😄 It's like meditation to me 😊
It took me until 2022 to finally get around to playing this. I never understood how to play for years until I finally just read up on it. Cant believe I waited so long.
THOU HATH DISCOVERED one of my favorite NES games!
This is one of those games with unforgettable music

I love all your videos, especially these old NES games; they really take me back.
This game was fuckin fun back in the day
Tracarris Wince It sure was! lol
Tracarris Wince I still play it through every few years. It doesn't take all that long and it's a lot of fun.
One of the very first NES games I ever set my eyes on and played back in 1988 or 89 (even before SMB!) in my local mall. When I was eight I played this game over and over, for some reason I liked it a lot more than Mario Bros... thank you for uploading this!
Lol the potion music!!! I used to hate the theme when your health was low
memories memories........what a treat! i forgot about this game,n now i accidently stumbled across it...loved this game:)
Thou Hath Discovered
Game of Nostalgia
I bought this game at a local retro game store, at first I didn't know if it was good or not. I tried it and its pretty damn fun. Wish I was alive when this came out
zachary hammersmith I was 10 when this game came out on Nintendo. I remember playing the shit out of this game was super fun . Watching this play through brings back my youth .
An amazing game with great music.
+Eight Virtues David Wise is the man behind the music!
You should check his work
+William Vieira Ramos Good to know, thanks. I'll be adding the soundtrack to my radio station I created a few days ago, with tags: eightvirtues.com:8000/stream There are only 300+ songs now but I'm adding more every day. Getting all the tags in order is a pain. :)
Eight Virtues Sticker Brush and Aquatic Ambience
Just listen it =)
The potion music is funny.
the music is so gloomy but so good at the same time
The damsel in distress music also heard while climbing the castle is truly a great piece of music
Okay, you sir are nuts! One life? Did not die??? MAXED out the scoreboard??? I bow to your skills
After all these fucking years I finally noticed his head looks like a giant canned ham.
+Christopher Saylor "Thou hath better watch it!"
Christopher Saylor mmmm....ham.
I have an XboxOne and PS4...... I'm 39........ And the NES is still THE console. That plus Goldeneye, MarioKart64, and Mario Party on the N64. Glad I've grown through the ultimate era in gaming.

Dolly Cakes Wow Dolly u still play this game? :)

This is one of the few 8 bit soundtracks burned into my head. One of my all time favorite games.
One of the greatest games on the NES ever. I freaking loved this game. I played it to. My thumbs were sore. I loved the music. I loved everything about it. It's just a masterpiece
this game and ironsword are classics in my book. i use to play these games all day
nes games give me such a strange sense of nostalgia that nothing else does. there's just something so cool and weird about them lol
The stage two boss those bats used to freak me out when i played it as a kid!
I loved this game. I still have the cart. Love the music!
you can use the boots of force to open closed treasure chest, I did it all the time as a kid, great game, thanks.
Yes and only way to kill the spitting blue skulls.
The Boss Fight score awesome
those musics ....
I remember about in 2010-2012 I'd play this game every once in a while on my NES, any my mom was always great at this game, she could get to the last level without dieing, which I never could achieve on my own lol
thank you for this upload, ive been trying to find this game for years to remember what ive played, now i know, thank you
I would do almost anything to go back to these simpler times. Even the music takes me back to nostalgia. Even rappers could sample this music.
Loved this game back in the day also. Tree/hive music I found a bit scary when I was younger.
The potion theme is funny.
What is this feeling that's overcoming me?
Nostalgia.
~JagOfTroy
I remember going into the trees with the spiders and te red night wh wanted all your gems at the end of every stage. Loved that game.
I was trying to think of what this game was called the other day. It just popped up in front of me on here. I wish I was a little kid again, ignorant to the suffering and corruption in this world.

Brian Keith lol
I miss this game. And why wasn't it on Rare Replay!?
OG Sword & Sorcery.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Check out episode three of the game, coming out in April/May. :)

How incredible is the music in the fire level.
Just found this game when I was cleaning out my garage, I remember spending hours and hours on it.
I loved getting to the very top of the castle and jumping off and falling for like 20 seconds.
Damn, I forgot that Rare was behind these games.
The writers/translators don't seem to "hath" such a good grasp of old-timey verb conjugations.
cometkite OH WILL YOU PLEASE, ENLIGHTEN US with a few examples and your corrections, Oh Grand Mufti Of Grammar Nazism ???
TuMuch ShaKracker "Thou hath" should be "thou hast", that's all.
Man, I bought this game launch date when I was a kid, the memories...
Wow memory is amazing because this looks different from what I remember but this is the game I’ve been trying to find
I just remember this was my favorite game. Thanks for the walkthrough memories
Amazing mobility for being in a full plate suit of armor.
This game was borrowed from a neighbor and omg it was SO ADDICTING!!! Really good adventure game during release!
when I'm jumping rooftops in playerunknown I remember how hard parkour was in this game. lmfao. that theme song is pure metal. sends chills. I miss 1987
thanks for posting this , really awesome game , took me back in time to being a kid
The potion melody is positively life-affirming.
Be dum, de dum, be dum dum, de dum. I'll never forget that hook.
Nice to se the end finally after 30 years almost lol
use to play this and watch my older cousin play all day classic game
Oh man, I love this game!! The first NES game I ever beat... about... six years after it was released xD! My brother and I played this like crazy back in the day.
man my older brother used to play this game back in the day.
I was only familiar with Ironsword Wizards and Warriors II back in day not this one the first one but it's cool where it's got it's roots from !
Such a great game... Miss it!
I have been thinking what the name of this game was in my head. This was my all time favorite game on NESas a kid!
15:33 could never make that jump in the second lava stage. Used to ride a bubble up and then jump.
Best music of any NES game ever
Oh man I used to love this game! Music was awesome too
You got it switched to PAL NES
A classic and one of my favorites next to rygar, punch out, section z and zelda
Club house by the cemetary. Had a red cliffs accent story too. Where I smoked cigarettes there too. 2 : .there was ink too. 2 to. :
Where I came from, I couldn't name anyone who DIDN'T own this game. Still, it was a favorite of ours.
WOOOW.... I totally forgot about this game!!
Cool vid. I only played the Game Boy release through (The Fortress of Fear).
Never paid much mind on the NES releases. Maybe this one to World 3 or something.
Looks great. Maybe I was too young back then.
this brings me back

This must be the pal version? The music is different.
Same music from NES so far.
The speed and tempo of the music is a bit different. Its especially apparent during the super potion and rescued princess songs which both play longer than they do in the American version.
Yes the music is different here.
lol love the music, brings back memories.
Thou hath played this game to perfection.
There was an NES game that was similar to this, but it was martial arts themed. You were a guy jumping through trees and stuff but you had a pair of sai instead of a sword. I forget what it is called though
Legend of Kage
love the soundtrack
Got maximum score, no deaths and saved the princess. Well done.
My favorite new game of all time
Anyone else have to blow on their cartridge to make it work ? ;)
If you were a kid in the late 80's then you know that we all did.
Put the cartridge in the NES, put your finger in the indentation, wiggle it a few times, no more having to blow on them :) We all thought it was because the contacts were dirty.. 99% of the time it was because the game wasn't seated correctly, and this wiggling trick fixed it almost every time
Easiest way to beat wizard is stand on the LHS of the level and he’ll always respawn in one of two easily hittable places.
man, I hated that growing skeleton when I was a kid.
I can't believe I just watched the whole fucking hour. I played this back in 1989 and I have it in emulator just for nostalgic purpose but I don't feel to play it now cause it's a bit difficult. Anyway Thanks for posting this.
The saving-the-girl scene's music is very 80's Metallica-like.
