Debate: Origin of word 'Tasawuf' or Mysticism | Professor Ahmad Rafique Akhtar

Beautiful discussion between two teachers about the origin of 'Tasawuf' (mysticism). It is said, the word sufi came from sophist of Greek, some consider it coming from 'Ashab-e-Sufa', people learning directly from Prophet Muhammad. Although, the word 'Sufi' remained contradictory throughout the history. Prof. sahib explains the word 'Sufism', and its linking with Islam. To him; it is a gateway to find Allah, to search God.

I respect Prof.Ahmed Rafeeq Akthar Saheb and those who gave really understandable comment. I say one word to those who aren't yet understand Tasawuff, tasawuff is most practical-understand than theory-understand. There are different types of feeling-segments such as nafs-feelings, heart-feelings, rooh-feelings etc., but words, phrases, sentences are mostly constructed based on nafs-feelings rather than other feeling segments, becoz nafs-feelings are related to body and body-world. If anyone really wish to acquire other feelings too, go for their master accordingly. Innamal Aamalu Binniyaat. Remember Niyat aren't able seen but can feel. Likewise all the segments said above are not able seen but can feel.
