man, when i think of this show (outside of the pretty cool Christmas/other Winter Holiday mash-up episode) i really think of the TV movie it aired around this big moment when Nick was just pouring out all kinds of movies every week or so. sometimes it was from one of their shows and sometimes it was just really random. like i think there was this Dennis the Menace movie i barely remember airing around the time for some reason.
@@slumberparty2724 I was four when it aired in 2002 and I can vividly remember one time in Pre Kindergarten, grabbing all the chalk I could find along with another kid, and rapidly tried to find the portal. I would say, that it was creative show that was fit for kids from my age and I guess throughout elementary. Unfortunately Nickelodeon, didn't see it that way.
It really did. This was one of my favorite shows as a child. Resonated with me as an artist that dealt with cartoon-hating adults, too. I think Captain Underpants creator Dav Pilkey also experienced that, hence why I also gravitated to those books as well. (Didn’t help that George and Harold were artists/writers too hehe)
9:39 This reminds me of being bullied and the teacher doing nothing about it even when I told them, but God forbid I should stand up for myself, then _I'd_ get in trouble! I grew up thinking, "why are adults such hypocrites?" "Why is it just 'kids will be kids' when I'm getting bullied, but 'how _dare_ you' when I fight back?" I swore that if I had a job like that, I'd be very strict on bullying. And I have. As a school bus driver, I've given several write-ups for bullying, making sure I've witnessed it first. I wouldn't want to be like that hypocrite and punish the person on the _receiving_ end, while letting the bully roam free.
I respect that you maintained this view in your adulthood and even made sure to act against bullying, that was my reality growing up too, getting bullied but if I stood up for myself I would've gotten in big trouble, I even got suspensed from school for fighting back against the bully after he physically assaulted me, then got a beating from my mom, GO FIGURE, it's all in the distant past tho lol
Tell me about. I'm one of those quite people who been bullied since pre school and it didn't get any better as I got older especially when I began highschool. Time I start standing up for myself and fight back I'm the one who gets in trouble for it. Like you I also had a teacher who saw the incident and did nothing. Even if it is a thing in the past it makes me so mad that these bullies got away with it and it is still happening today but now there's school shootings and it hasn't got any better. Some kids who gets bullied end up committing suicide when the adults will not doing anything to stop the bullying. I'm glad you mentioned you work as a school bus driver and have sense enough to at least report the bullying. Thanks for the comment.
If this is a antiheros backstory then what's odd about it is nothing is being done to stop the bullying. Even if the person being bullied report it to the teachers, school faculty and their parents, the bullying still continues. I remember an episode from Disney's "Filmore about bullying but the thing was when the victims who were being bullied starts fighting back on their own, all of a Sutton the school faculty wants to protect the people who started the bullying and making the victims the bad guy. To me that is not right. Those victims had every right to get back at those bullys if none of the faculty would not do anything. Last thing I remember at the end of the episode was " There going to be victims and there going to be bullys," I forgot what they said after that, but the thing about that episode was the victims starts fighting back and their the ones who ends up being punished for it.
A lot of people dismissed ChalkZone was being ‘too kiddy’. when it aired (compared to things like Ren and Stimpy). Which I think is really unfair as it’s not particularly kiddy. And in all honesty is more mature than things like later Spongebob (who got portrayed as a complete crybaby in the seasonal rot era.)
Apparently, the showrunners wanted to make the show more serialized and have a much more serious plot but Nick wanted them to keep it episodic. I mean, that could explain why the theme song was so intense. lol I’m not sure how true that is though so don’t quote me on that.
This show honestly deserved the world. Even more so than any other Nicktoon, Chalkzone was the show that got screwed over by Nick the most. Between the charming and unique art style, fun characters, banging music, and the sheer creativity and heart behind it, I can't for the life of me comprehend why Nick lost their minds and murdered this show the way they did.
I beg to differ with the "worst treatment", since My Life as a Teenage Robot got worst treatment than Chalkzone. Barely made it to Season 3 and it didn't even air in the US at first.
It's a travesty what Nick has done to so many of their best shows over the years. It seems any time a cool new unique property comes along, they just bin it right away, or ruin it entirely, like airing the second season at 3am and then the season finale 7 years later on a different channel. Why do they always do that to good shows? lol...
A pleasant reminder to use streaming services to pitch your ideas to to allow for more creative freedom and better working environments for cartoon creators
@@serranopepperproductions5118 And if a show manages to complete this impossible mission, like The Loud House did, it's time to do the opposite, the show will last way longer than it should, they will squeeze all the money from the franchise until it's a dry husk.
I always loved the Art style of Chalkzone. It's so unique and colourful. Also I always wondered if there's a "Pen and Paper Zone" since they showed that there's a world for whiteboard drawings too.
Still a legendary cartoon I don't know why Nickelodeon be scared to put certain their classic Nicktoons characters in their games and Chalkzone is one of them.
Honestly, I’m just glad chalk zone lasted as long as it did. Having a fantasy world literally made out of other peoples art. And turning drawing into a super power was a dream come true for me 🤩. I’m glad you could talk about it because it’s still one of my favorites to this day.
I can't "boo" you for the "or should I say, 'Tabootie?'" joke, because I thought the same thing just before you said it. This show was great! And so was this video!
Of all the nicktoons I grew up with, Chalk Zone always felt the most genuine, the most earnest, and the most honest. I never felt pandered to or talked down to, and it lacked a lot of the sarcasm and cynical humor of some other cartoons on air at the time. Granted, it's been many years since I've watched it, so I have no idea how it would hold up now, but at least for now when I look back on it I get those warm fuzzies.
This show was the reason I had a chalkboard on the wall of my room for so many years. It would be the source of my imagination to draw anything that came to mind and the thought that it lived on after I erased it just always made me happy. Like even though it wasn't there anymore it was never truly gone.
I know this reply is late, but I agree 100%. While I may not have watched it as much as other shows, due to being in my teen to young adult years, I really like how it inspires creativity with chalk. Where as other shows have been loud, obnoxious or unfunny, while pandering to kids via toilet humor.
This show had some of the FUNKIEST songs in cartoon history. They wouldn't be out of place in a Sonic the Hedgehog game. I also remember having a crush on Rapsheeba as a kid. She was WAY too fine for a chalk drawing, with her curves, raspy voice, and big lips. The creators went a little overboard with her. lol
Chalk Zone was my favorite show ever! I, like Rudy, have an obsession with art. I too had teachers in elementary school tell me that being an artist was not a career. I could relate to this show so much. I needed it. I wish Nick hadn't done this amazing show dirty.
I agree that the show deserved better. I remember thinking when the show was out "why isn't anyone talking about this?". Generator Rex, Secret Saturdays, and Symbionic Titan were casualties of their own network. Especially Symbionic Titan, which barely got a chance before being canned.
FINALLY!!!, Someone talking about this great show that i unfortunetlly never finish watching it. (If anyone can give me a memo about what was the final episode about, ill will be thankful forever).
This show was so dang good and so dang underrated. The style is perfect. To this day I can tell some friends “Rudy’s got the chalk” and they’re like 🤣 “Nooooo! The song is in my head now!” All the great songs are on TH-cam too thankfully. Such catchy songs.
I don't think people understand just how many chalk, pastel, conte crayon, vine charcoal and mural artists grew out of this show. The ONLY reason I got into soft pastels was because of chalkzone, and I may deal majorly in watercolor and printmaking but soft chalk tools were always my go to, so that translates into lithography very well. This show created a lot of artists, but specifically it created artists in medias that were trending downward for a while.
The two things I instantly remember from this show was the episode Rudy shows off comics of Snap, so all the kids make their own Snap oc's and Snap and the chalk zone getting annoyed with all the new snaps. And I still to this day occasionally still get escuchame corazon in chalk zone stuck in my head from time to time randomly even when not having heard it or seen it in years.
I started rewatching this show earlier this year and it's nice to see all of my favorite moments. And let's be real; who *wouldn't* want magic chalk? Nickelodeon made the serious mistake of treating this show so unfairly. Even though ChalkZone may be one of the shows that aren't remembered too well, there are people out there that still remember it enough to make fanart and upload videos. I know this is most definitely never going to happen, but with nostalgia flaring up lately, Nickelodeon could bring ChalkZone back in some way. Again less likely, but it'd be nice.
Interesting fact: Adventure Time started out as an _Oh! Yeah!_ cartoon short before they opted to go with Cartoon Network once Nickelodeon turned them down. I remember watching the particular short before it became a Cartoon Network cartoon.
And the cartoon they chose over Adventure Time? Fanboy and Chum-Chum. To this day, I’m sure Nick is still cursing themselves for that boneheaded move. But I guess it was for the better. Adventure Time likely wouldn’t have evolved past the original whimsical and surreal premise it had and its viewership likely wouldn’t have been as strong.
@@theluigifan1 IDK I mean if you watch the pilot I can see why. I wasn't a fan of the show until the cast of characters and plot became more pronounced. I found the main characters obnoxious, then they brought in Marceline and they made Bubblegum more 3-Dimensional
I enjoyed this show a lot growing up, I really liked the idea that something you drew would go to a place and it was alive, that’s just a fantastic idea. The show is very lighter hearted, it doesn’t touch upon very serious topics, but I mean that in a good way, it was supposed to its was a cute little show that showed off creativity and was good at that. I also liked the characters, Rudy was a friendly, heroic and his drawing skills were amazing, and Penny served well as the brainy best friend who went on adventures with him and sometimes explained things to him and Snap. Much like with Manny and Frieda from El Tigre, I didn’t’ care that the main female and male leads being a couple was predictable, mostly because Rudy and penny are just so cute together, I think it was one of the first time I wanted to ship two characters. Snap was good at his role of showing how ChalkZone worked and was ready to help Rudy out in needed. I like how the episodes were segmented into parts, there was usually one that had Rudy, Penny and Snap together trying to solve a problem either in ChalkZone or the real world, another that was just set in ChalkZone and was focused on Snap, and a music video which were my usually my least favorite part, not that the songs were bad, I just felt it was extra padding. While ChalkZone was and still is not my favorite nick show, or even in the top ten of nick shows, I still liked it, it was cute, creative and could be funny. Also I remember that there was the one video a that a fan made a few years ago which showed Snap calling a adult Rudy and asking him if he remembers Chalkzone at all but Rudy just doesn’t answer, what really cool is that the creator heard of it and instead of being mad, he said it was awesome, more creators like that please!
I loved this show. I used to spend hours (and boxes and boxes of chalk) just drawing and erasing things I thought the characters would appreciate...just in case chalk zone was real. Haha thanks for the video, brought back some great memories.
I loved Chalkzone primarily for the art. I was around 6 or 7 when it premiered and it always looked like something I could draw Sidenote: Your brief mention of "Mina and the Count" just awakened a memory LONG forgotten. All the cartoons are available on youtube and I still remembered EVERY BIT of it... I'd love if you did a full episode on it! :D
This was one of my favorite TV shows and it sucked that every show I liked ended up getting canceled, so seeing you show and talk about them brings back good memories of being a kid so thank you.
That's my VHS recording at 14:40 by the way (video uploaded by my friend Cartoonish Weeb). Recorded CZ a ton back in the day, my favorite show, happy to see it receive a little bit of attention on TH-cam.
I see ChalkZone, I click. Oh my goodness, this is definitely my favorite childhood show. I got to experience it thanks to CBS airing it (still consider that one of the luckiest things to happen in my life) and I can’t emphasize enough what level of imagination it captures. This is one of the few times I can see something, know ‘anything goes’ and it ends up making sense despite that! I wanted Snap as a friend, and he’s the reason why so many characters I’ve written are bouncy, zany, and sociable. Blocky’s super cute, and I wished to see him more often. I think of Old Lady in a Bathtub (yes that’s another character Rudy drew) every time I see a bathtub with those legs :P Queen Rapshiba and Penny are really great compliments to each other’s potential love interests, without it being in the face of the viewer that this could possibly be the case in the future. And Rudy? What a creative kid, always trying to think outside the box to solve situations. I feel this is one of the best cartoons that pull off being episodic with bits of continuity here and there, and Nick really did it dirty.
This show was the shiiiittt!!! 💗 This was my everything as a little girl and a young artist growing up. I remember I'd be so pissed whenever I tried to imitate Rudy opening a portal to chalkstone and it wouldn't work. Thanks for covering this show
I adored this show as a kid. It was so unique in its art style, had amazing voice acting, and sparked my imagination on a way no other show did. I would wake up early to watch it when it was airing at 6am. This show was horribly mistreated. And I may have had a childhood crush on Penny haha 😂
Chalkzone was legitimately an amazing show. Growing up I always looked forward to watching it. Easily one of my favorites alongside Rugrats, both of which greatly inspired my own imagination and creativity. Also, great video on the subject.
I honestly think Chalkzone do deserve better, especially the fact that I think Season 4 is the best season of the show. Fun fact, in 2016, I talk to the guys from NickSplat to add ChalkZone in their channel, and they did 😊.
The lack of that ideal ending may be tragic, but this also gives someone the chance to create the ending they desire from their own perspective. Imagine years down the line where Rudy begins drawing less and less art and begins taking more and more notes. A confused Snap remarking on this gradual change as he sees his creator, his friend ultimately entering in for a degree that would "assure a job". The comforting doodles now arrive only by the rarest of instances as lines of text and possible formulae litter his creative spot. During one of those rare visits, simply done just to relax from days of study and research, our protagonist sits as an older shell of himself. He carries himself differently, speaks less intuitively, and rolls his eyes at Snap's attempts at friendliness. As the colorful, blue creation realizes his attempts are all in vain he laments as he just can't understand why his best friend isn't interested in the same old play as before. This creation, stuck in the very instant it was incepted and destroyed in one reality, just can't comprehend Rudy's change over time. Heartbroken, Snap confronts Rudy; he reprimands him saying how his increasingly cold nature isn't who he used to be. The changes of course, were all a result of his mind. A heated argument breaks and through this conflict a new adventure sparks and for the first time in perhaps years, Rudy once again uses his creative mind as he's restored to what he's passionate about. Heart heavy with regret, Rudy realizes what happened and what he lost. One at a time, he reminisces on the achievements of his past; from every minor doodle to each great fix. For one last day, he is immersed in the joy of his creations. Enough time has passed, and obligations begin to call Rudy away once more. Not before sitting one on one with his old friend. Rudy admits he was at fault, admits that he made decisions because he was told it was right but not because he felt it was right. At the same time, he embraces his closest creation before admitting that it's time for him to right what's wrong. In the tearful reunion, Rudy admits that he can't stay...and doesn't know if or when he'll return. The two separate, our protagonist will never forget. The scene now cuts to an adult Rudy, leading an art class as he learns to share his passion with the world. On the side, he is shown as a cartoonist that takes commissions for some extra cash. Only one day he finds a young student, constantly brimming with ideas yet held back by fear or bullies or some other means. He picks up that last piece of magic chalk, about halfway used. Nodding, he hands it down to the student. As the student realizes it's power and prepares to start their own adventure, Rudy sees a familiar face in the distance; his old friend, Snap. He sees Rudy, older and more accomplished. The two exchange a distant moment of remembrance before Rudy walks away, allowing the student to start their own adventure.
I agree that what happen to Chalk Zone is tragic, heck thanks to this show, I got into art because I used to believe if I drew the same portal the main protagonist drew I could get into the chalk zone to. This was because of some dark times and man, I'm glad this show was made because just like me, I bet this show help A LOT of kids struggling with a broken home issue. R.I.P Chalk Zone, you where the top Sekai show back then before anime REALLY hyped up this troupe for the rest of the world. 😢
I LOVED this show! from the theme song to the animation and the story segments. For some reason, I remember the segment where Snap has a nightmare about chocolate chip cookies which was my first encounter with nightmare fuel. Anyway, I cant wait for the next video!
I remember as a kid waking up randomly early early in the morning and one of two things was on when that happened, either I saw George Lopez slowly jumping with that funky music, or it was chalkzone with its fun whimsy and even funkier music, I miss those days and I miss these amazing cartoons

That show was the best. I remember it so vividly, the art style just stuck in my mind. I was always a huge fan of Harold and the Purple Crayon and it kinda gave me that vibe
Nick shows that just sorta stopped with no ending : Ren and Stimpy ( Even Last Airbender was gonna get a 4th book ) Chalk Zone Fairly Odd Parents CatDog Rugrats and All Grown Up Rocket Power Tuff Puppy Bunsen is a Beast
U was mezmorized by its art style and creativity also wish I could go to and stay In The world of chalk also the music video at the end of each ep was awesome and the music was waaaaay better than it needed to be.this show really spoke to me as someone who's always been prone to doodling and getting lost in my imagination and was and still is the creative arty kid.
Idk why but the Christmas special of this show is so memorable to me, the animation and color palette was especially fun in that one. Also it would be so awesome if you did a vid covering Edgar and Ellen if you haven't already :)
Now this show I was OBSESSED with as a kid so much so that Rudy is one of my fav names lol It's always sad when I grow up and realize that either things got cancelled or they never really had that many episodes
When this video ended, it just made me really sad. ChalkZone was a show that I can't say as a kid I watched every episode, or I was their biggest fan. But as I've forgotten more and more shows over the years, this one stuck to me. The theme, the art style, it was like a representation of just scribbling all over the place as I used to do myself and to know that after the hassle of getting this made, Nickelodeon threw this show under the bus. That sucks. ChalkZone could have been one of the highest regarded shows in Nick history and they threw any chance of that away, esepcially before the story could truly finish.... Love this show.
I was a huge fan of Chalkzone...until I tried watching it again as an adult. Some stuff didn't land for me, but I might go back and rewatch it. Also, without What A Cartoon, Family Guy wouldn't exist.
This is a pretty good little documentary. One small correction: I, Bill Burnett wrote ALL the songs that appear in ChalkZone - all the one minute Rudy and the Gang music videos and all the songs that appear within the show, like Skrawl's repeating theme song, and Merry Chrishankamas. And I wrote the theme song, considered by some to be the greatest theme song of all time.
You know I noticed that alot of the early 2000s shows were really unique from each other. You had shows about kids into science (Jimmy neutron), music (my dad the rockstar), art (chalk zone), kids with shitty families (fairly odd parents), and so on. They could appeal to a very wide range of kids and encourage an interest in things like science and art and music that are often being cut out of schools these days or they can just pick up some handy facts here and there and have fun. I have a kid now and the stuff available to him on tv are just cookie cutter versions of each other even down to that irritating cal arts style EVERYONE is using. The shows are either about super heros, dating (which seems inappropriate for little kids) or are overly political for absolutely no reason (think the new blues clues, new Powerpuff girls, etc). It's really sad
I loved and miss chalk zone and it's always sad thinking about all the shows like it that I loved and didn't know why they had to end because I was young at the time but now know it was either ratings or some guy somewhere just didn't think it fit the channel anymore
I thought I dreamed this show in the 90s, when it came out in the 2000s I was sure they stole my dream idea. Learning today that it was from one of those animation specials.
I just discovered your channel the other day and your videos have unlocked sooooo many memories from my childhood. I used to watch ChalkZone all the time when I was a kid, I loved it! Can't wait to see what other classic Nicktoons you cover on the channel!
All this really reminded me of was the time I got in trouble for writing "booty meat" on the teacher's whiteboard before class. I hope he's somewhere safe. Run free, little Booty Meat. Run free.
♫ Tasty tasty mm mm gooood~ Tasty taste we're in the flavor neighborhood ♫ Their mini music videos at the end of some episodes were total bangers and underrated
I really wish they'd bring Chalkzone back. But at the same time, I kinda want them to also make it more like Gravity Falls, Amphibia, or Owl House. Have tons of fun with this concept, but also ask questions about it. How did the Chalkzone come to be? Who or what made it? What if Rudy and Penny aren't the only ones who know about the Chalkzone? Etc, etc.
To this day, Chalk Zone remains as one of my all time favourite Nicktoons ever. The concept was genius and it blew my mind as a kid who was (and still is) obsessed with art. Nickelodeon didn't deserve this show.
This was one of my favorite shows on Nickeloceon back in the day. I remember seeing the first episode at a friend's house and I loved how creative the show was, so I started watching it regularly even though it didn't have many episodes at the time. This show was to Nickelodeon what Sheep in the Big City was to Cartoon Network as in being the underdog of my favorite shows on the channels (though ChalkZone has at least gotten more videos talking about it than Sheep.)
Will you be getting to the under appreciated Nicktoons of the 2010s and 2020s soon? I really enjoy seeing you talk about these shows so passionately and giving them some much needed love.
What about erased chalk drawings FROM OTHER SHOWS?!?! Powerpuff Girls - The Powerpuff Girls Season 4 Episode 3 All Chalked Up After Buttercup crushes her chalk, "Him" (Satan) tricks Bubbles into "expressing" anger as drawings. Disney's Recess - unfortunately I don't remeber the episode name, but I do know that in this one, Spinelli takes over a kid's chalk drawing, and the WHOLE blacktop, as a beautiful mural; unfortunately, even when Mrs. Finster finally sees she's *wrong* about this "grafitti" she STILL gets what she THOUGHT she wanted - the water hose washes it away... Any others?
I'm so happy to see someone sitting down and seriously talking about this show, what it was able to do, and how it was formative in so many of our childhoods. Chalkzone helped inspire me and so many others to keep practicing art and to "use the Chalk, Rudy, and draw somethin'!!!" Great introduction to the channel too, got me hooked and binging your content. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you so much for this video. I seen so many people not know this show or forget it exists and it just hurts my heart. This was one of the three shows that inspired me to draw.
At this point i think you and i need to have a early 2000’s nicktoons marathon. You’ve brought up the shows i still watch and think of and I whole heartedly agreed to chalk zone deserving better. I remember when it first aired , it was new , had a catchy ass theme song and I was hooked to how charming the characters were. It was similar to Danny phantom before it showed up. I also wondered why they booted the show over to nicktoons. It was wrong ! I wish they’d bring it back .
this was a nice and fun way to look back on a show that while it meant a lot to me as a kid, i have trauma related to this show *because* it was there for me in those traumatic times. being able to come back to it like this, at this distance, just gave me a sense of wholeness i haven’t felt since, ever, i suppose. so thank you deeply!
I adored this show as I was that one kid being bullied just cause I draw and just am different from the rest of my class. Just sad it was forgotten from my memories until I watched this video, so thank you ♡
I still remember this show. Back when I was a kid, whenever we where forced to do indoor recess one game my friends and I would sometimes play was "destroy chalk zone." We'd draw giant godzlla-style monsters of mass destruction, evil supervillains, nuclear missiles, bombs, black holes etc... and then immediately erase them just to draw more (which would then be erased...wash, rinse, and replete) in an effort to completely annihilate chalk zone. We didn't believe it was real or anything, but we had fun playing the bad guy and planning what horror we would force chalk zone to endure that day.Good times.
Thanks so much for watching! Were you a fan of ChalkZone? Which Chalk character in the show was your favorite? (Snap and/or Blocky fot NASB)
Not a character in particular, but the power to bring drawings to life is such an amazing concept!

That's exactly what I loved about ChalkZone, it dealt with kiddy subject matters in a somewhat mature way.
Apparently, the showrunners wanted to make the show more serialized and have a much more serious plot but Nick wanted them to keep it episodic. I mean, that could explain why the theme song was so intense. lol
I’m not sure how true that is though so don’t quote me on that.

I beg to differ with the "worst treatment", since My Life as a Teenage Robot got worst treatment than Chalkzone. Barely made it to Season 3 and it didn't even air in the US at first.
My gods, I really miss my childhood and adolescence.
It's a travesty what Nick has done to so many of their best shows over the years. It seems any time a cool new unique property comes along, they just bin it right away, or ruin it entirely, like airing the second season at 3am and then the season finale 7 years later on a different channel. Why do they always do that to good shows? lol...
Mostly because if a show doesn’t reach Spongebob levels for success, they abandon those projects.
@@serranopepperproductions5118 Exactly! It angers me to no end!
Same with Disney
A pleasant reminder to use streaming services to pitch your ideas to to allow for more creative freedom and better working environments for cartoon creators
@@serranopepperproductions5118 And if a show manages to complete this impossible mission, like The Loud House did, it's time to do the opposite, the show will last way longer than it should, they will squeeze all the money from the franchise until it's a dry husk.
I always loved the Art style of Chalkzone.
It's so unique and colourful.
Also I always wondered if there's a "Pen and Paper Zone" since they showed that there's a world for whiteboard drawings too.
I’m pretty sure they had an episode about that. I think they also went to a whiteboard world that had mostly math problems.
I also love the style, especially not in Chalk Zone. I'm a sucker for a retro cartoon style à la My Life as a Teenage Robot.
@@r2b217 wasn’t that just a dream episode, though?
I only remember the whiteboard episode lol
Still a legendary cartoon I don't know why Nickelodeon be scared to put certain their classic Nicktoons characters in their games and Chalkzone is one of them.
Rudy is too OP for All Star Brawl
Honestly, I’m just glad chalk zone lasted as long as it did. Having a fantasy world literally made out of other peoples art. And turning drawing into a super power was a dream come true for me 🤩. I’m glad you could talk about it because it’s still one of my favorites to this day.
I can't "boo" you for the "or should I say, 'Tabootie?'" joke, because I thought the same thing just before you said it. This show was great! And so was this video!
Haha thanks so much!
Honestly, whenever I see/hear the word “tabbouleh,” I associate it with Rudy Tabootie
I was absolutely *obsessed* with this show growing up as a young artist. Still amazing.
Jordan is some sort of wizard because his impression of Mr. Walter was so spot on it was stunning 😂
Haha thank you!
the bully too
It absolutely does deserve better, man. I miss this being a part of my childhood.
That theme song will always slam!
Chalkzone was extremely underatted honestly imo the artstyle for the show is very nostalgic, and appealing to the eyes.
I know this reply is late, but I agree 100%.
While I may not have watched it as much as other shows, due to being in my teen to young adult years,
I really like how it inspires creativity with chalk.
The creators went a little overboard with her. lol
its funny to me just how down ATROCIOUS snap is for her, but i dont blame him lmao
This show really deserves a continuation, it was so good.
FINALLY!!!, Someone talking about this great show that i unfortunetlly never finish watching it. (If anyone can give me a memo about what was the final episode about, ill will be thankful forever).
God I miss Chalk Zone. Was actually my favorite Nicktoon for a while at the time of it's airing.
This show was so dang good and so dang underrated. The style is perfect. To this day I can tell some friends “Rudy’s got the chalk” and they’re like 🤣 “Nooooo! The song is in my head now!”
All the great songs are on TH-cam too thankfully.
Correction: It was from Random! Cartoons, but it was a sequel to Oh Yeah! Cartoons.
@@theluigifan1 IDK I mean if you watch the pilot I can see why. I wasn't a fan of the show until the cast of characters and plot became more pronounced. I found the main characters obnoxious, then they brought in Marceline and they made Bubblegum more 3-Dimensional
did not know that.
@@theluigifan1 Really?! That... fuckin ABOMINATION got picked over Adventure time??
I was around 6 or 7 when it premiered and it always looked like something I could draw
Sidenote: Your brief mention of "Mina and the Count" just awakened a memory LONG forgotten. All the cartoons are available on youtube and I still remembered EVERY BIT of it... I'd love if you did a full episode on it! :D
As an artist growing up, Chalk Zone was honestly one of my biggest fantasies. Getting to hang out with my own drawings? Uhhh, yes please.
I think of Old Lady in a Bathtub (yes that’s another character Rudy drew) every time I see a bathtub with those legs :P
Queen Rapshiba and Penny are really great compliments to each other’s potential love interests, without it being in the face of the viewer that this could possibly be the case in the future.
ChalkZone is a criminally underrated show imo.
Umm EXCUSE ME!!!!!!! Umm this is genius. I love this idea so much.
6:17 oh shit, I remember that cartoon. That's a Memory I didn't know I had.
ChalkZone was literally Nick's own Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and they did her dirty.
Your videos always give me the feels. Gosh, I love this channel.
Thanks so much for the support! 🙌
I love all my toons a.k.a cartoons i remember all them and love/care for them and always will⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I used to love the music videos that played after every episode! Favorite song was Mumbo Jumbo Jump!
"Mi Corazon in Chalkzone" lives rent-free in my brain forever.
That show was the best. I remember it so vividly, the art style just stuck in my mind. I was always a huge fan of Harold and the Purple Crayon and it kinda gave me that vibe
TH-cam interrupted me with a bank advertisement right as it said ChalkZone we'll be right back
Childhood = Harold & the Purple Crayon.
Teenhood = ChalkZone.
Adulthood = Cool World.
Nick shows that just sorta stopped with no ending :
Ren and Stimpy
( Even Last Airbender was gonna get a 4th book )
Chalk Zone
Fairly Odd Parents
CatDog
Rugrats and All Grown Up
Rocket Power
Tuff Puppy
Bunsen is a Beast
Ngl that opening was always a banger.
Love it. It was like "If you could make your imagination into reality but not really."
Fairly odd parents are good, but I still prefer Chalk zone.
Idk why but the Christmas special of this show is so memorable to me, the animation and color palette was especially fun in that one. Also it would be so awesome if you did a vid covering Edgar and Ellen if you haven't already :)
Now this show I was OBSESSED with as a kid so much so that Rudy is one of my fav names lol
It's always sad when I grow up and realize that either things got cancelled or they never really had that many episodes
I have a question for whether you or Larry thought about making a revival of chalk zone
I loved and miss chalk zone and it's always sad thinking about all the shows like it that I loved and didn't know why they had to end because I was young at the time but now know it was either ratings or some guy somewhere just didn't think it fit the channel anymore
chalk zone is seriously underrated
I've always loved the mini songs/music videos that comes at the end of an episodes.
I thought I dreamed this show in the 90s, when it came out in the 2000s I was sure they stole my dream idea. Learning today that it was from one of those animation specials.
Anyone remember the Acordian Worm song? So many years later and I remember that.

ChalkZone is such an adorable and amazing show; it totally deserves a reboot!
I just discovered your channel the other day and your videos have unlocked sooooo many memories from my childhood. I used to watch ChalkZone all the time when I was a kid, I loved it! Can't wait to see what other classic Nicktoons you cover on the channel!
Hey thank you so much! Truly appreciate the kind words and support! 😄
man i remember drawing squares or circles on our classroom blackboard in the hopes of opening a portal to chalk zone... good times
All this really reminded me of was the time I got in trouble for writing "booty meat" on the teacher's whiteboard before class.
I hope he's somewhere safe. Run free, little Booty Meat.
Run free.
♫ Tasty tasty mm mm gooood~
Tasty taste we're in the flavor neighborhood ♫
Their mini music videos at the end of some episodes were total bangers and underrated
Bushel full of yum and Rapunzel was stuck in my head for years.😵💫Scrawl song and character used to scare me as a kid.😨
Etc, etc.
Fun fact: penny’s voice actress played Princess Bubblegum & Starfire!
I can hear it
Chalk Zone had one of the best Nicktoons theme songs ever! 🖼️

12:40 I may be mistaken, but that's not the original cowbell. sounds more like William Maranci
To this day, Chalk Zone remains as one of my all time favourite Nicktoons ever. The concept was genius and it blew my mind as a kid who was (and still is) obsessed with art. Nickelodeon didn't deserve this show.
Thank you Jordon for bringing up buried memories of these shows! I love scrolling on the channel and seeing things that I completely forgot about!
This show was so good, the theme song is such a banger!
He HAS to cover Harvey Beaks next
@@flodoesthings2408 I agree. Although Glitch Techs, It's Pony and Middlemost Post are arguably more urgent at the moment.

What about erased chalk drawings FROM OTHER SHOWS?!?!
Powerpuff Girls - The Powerpuff Girls Season 4 Episode 3 All Chalked Up
After Buttercup crushes her chalk, "Him" (Satan) tricks Bubbles into "expressing" anger as drawings.
Disney's Recess - unfortunately I don't remeber the episode name, but I do know that in this one, Spinelli takes over a kid's chalk
drawing, and the WHOLE blacktop, as a beautiful mural; unfortunately, even when Mrs. Finster finally sees she's *wrong* about this
"grafitti" she STILL gets what she THOUGHT she wanted - the water hose washes it away...
Any others?
Its an underrated gem. I think that the magic chalk CHOOSES its owner.
I'm so happy to see someone sitting down and seriously talking about this show, what it was able to do, and how it was formative in so many of our childhoods. Chalkzone helped inspire me and so many others to keep practicing art and to "use the Chalk, Rudy, and draw somethin'!!!"
Great introduction to the channel too, got me hooked and binging your content. Keep up the fantastic work!
Chalk zone was one of the shows that sparked my interest in drawing. I'll forever treasure this show for revealing me my passion
Man your impressions and voices are always so good. Thanks for the great video!
Haha thanks so much!
Since you played "destroy chalkzone", Were you the cause of those natural disasters in that one episode with blocky chasing the mustache?
Omgg I love your choice in shows to cover . I remember and watched mainly every one
I finally know what Snap is from.
I loved this show! I still randomly remember the ending song "Escucha Mi Corazon", it was my jam
I love the edit parts of the many yous just talking to you! This show has/had such a neat concept!
