Great topic! I still have my Approach 90 that I used in high school 1990-91. Then I replaced it with the Synergy 28. The approach has a 28 mm beam at the tip. The Graduate was 26 mm. The Precision was 24 mm. The Thunderstick was 32 mm, I think. It was thick! I strung and sold hundreds of these racquets back then. The Lightning was released later for Capriati to promote. It was a Graduate with the double bridge damping system in the throat. They were all replaced by the Synergy line in about 1992. They were named Synergy__ followed by the beam width number. The Lightning became the Synergy DB26. Great racquets for the time. Still in my collection.
Precision, Graduate, Response, Lightning, Blast, Approach, Storm, then Thunderstick. Man I remember those racquets. I was a CTS blast and then CTS Approach 90. Loved those
Another cool video would be comparing the different rackets Agassi used over the years. Comparing the Prince Original Graphite, Donnay Pro One and Head Radical (original bumblebee version) would be interesting.
I played with a CTS Approach 90 in my teens, awesome weapon. Now using a Prince Phantom 100X 305g, nearest modern thing I've found, still got the CTS system
This video was so cool. I got introduced to tennis last February in Mexico. I came away with a Prince Thunderstick 115. This video was so great putting it into perspective! Also, at one point I thought you were going to say "back when Prince was dominating the charts" 😂
My mom used to play with that racquet in the late 80's / early 90's and I still have it to this day. Needs new grommets and grip and she's ready to go!
Wow, was this racket this heavy? I played this racket when I was around 14 - 17 years old. I was not a strong kid back then. But it really brings back memories. I feel you in that one! If they would come back I would buy them again. Keep up the vids!
I have played with CTS Graduates 110 for over 25 years. I play well with it, but I am looking for some new racquets and would like to come down in headsize to get just a bit more control. I would love to see a video on the CTS Graduate specs. so I can plug into my spreadsheet and find something in the ballpark. The racquets I have been demoing are way to light. Just to add anecdotal to your video. When demoing, I hit best with the Wilson Pro Staff. I wasn't sure why because I didn't have specs on my CTS Graduate. But this video helped me understand why. I imagine the CTS graduate is in the ballpark with the Approach specs wise. This has all made me realize, after 35 years of playing with older, heavier racquets, that my transition was better to heavier modern racquets. I struggled with lighter racquets during demos. So I am going to strongly consider the RF.
There was also a CTS Blast that I played with back in HS…it was an off white color…so many people were playing with these different Prince CTS racquets
Hi Harry. I have a CTS 90 that I played with in high school (1988-1992). It has not hit a ball since then. If you’d be interested in doing a similar video with it, let me know and I’ll send it your way.
In the Netherlands NOBODY had these racquets in college, I can assure you. The CTS Approach had a price tag of (given today's conversion rate) $744, and the Thunderstick was the equivalent of $859 ! This is no joke. It must have been around the time these were replaced by their successors that I was able to pick up two CTS Approach 90s at half off (YES!!!), and later on I bought a Thunderstick 110 at the ABN Amro Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, for about $400. These were bargain prices for these racquets, believe it or not. The CTS Approach 90 I loved the most but I remember it feeling stiff as a board. Thunderstick 110 actually felt comfortable. Stiff but not harsh.
I play NTPR 4.0 tennis recreationally and have moved on from a clash pro to a Prince Phantom 100G, which is almost just as flexy/arm friendly but with more weight/stability/control and I love it… but for whatever reason I think Prince rackets in general get overlooked nowadays for the most part. I think it would be awesome if you would do a review of the Phantom 100G and get the word more out there on this Clash-esk racket that seems quite slept on for some reason smh
Hey Harry! I was wondering if you had heard anything on the release of the new speeds? I see all of the pros rockin them but havent heard of the release date. Loving the channel! Keep it up bud!
I think it would be great if Harry could do a video for all the different Prince Original Graphite re-releases. For every re-release, they don't seem to play the same from the one prior.
Picked up a Prince Graphite OG mid size 14x18 at Salvation Army for $6 usd. Still had the original calf-skin grip on it. Near pristine condition. Only issue was that the original owner used head guard tape, which left adhesive on the frame…
Hmm, Nor sure now , Storm was 32mm wide at the tip , anybody know the thunderstorm size? I did play with the storm for quite a while back In a day and I miss those specs , like Harry said , they don't make them like that anymore :)
Nice review, i do not agree the head heavyness and sw 331 measured as it was without regular overgrip. Also note you can change these cts rackets a bit in balance and weight as these is on 1 side of the grip pallet a Iron lead strip. You can shorten it or move it more down to change the specs to your wish. I May show it if you like.i do have plenty of these cts rackets in 90 and 110. The 90 is a bit more agile.
Hey guys. I searched about this racket because I’ll be using it on my first Tennis session (first try also). For some reason, we have this racket for around 15yrs now and it was never been used since then. What do you think would be the outcome? 😅
Recently tested a vintage dunlop McEnroe comp racket, even heavier 12.95 oz strung, and only slightly head light. But still fun, and a good work out. Here is a vid in case anyone finds it useful: th-cam.com/video/xZuhNw8CKwM/w-d-xo.html

I played that racquet for two years when first came out but the midsize and I loved it.
Prince still makes the Classic Graphite 107 which has a strung weight of 12.2, 6pts headlight, and a swingweight of 336. Available for $139 at TW.
Unfortunately not availabable for me in Europe. I would love to get a pair!
A friend recently gave me this racquet and I loved it and both another used. I replaced the grips and strings and love hitting with them.

I think Harry’s strokes with the Prince looked a little smoother than with his Clash. Small sample size, though.

Try “Goo Gone”. Available in a spray bottle. Works wonders.
In high school and college, I used a Graduate exclusively.
Would be cool to do one on the 1987 POG 4 stripe racquet
i still have a CTS Approach 90 (93 sq in), 24-22-20, 349g (strung), 7 pts HL (strung), 14x18 pattern.
I just hit with one recently. A wee bit swing heavy but I liked the combo of flex and mid range power. Oh, and a 4 1/2 grip is way too big.
How about the Wilson Ultra FPK?
Can you change the handle to a smaller size. changing size 5 to size 1 or 2 ? Thanks
Harry, exactly, all the new racquets are easier to swing. But, if you played with stuff like that CTS, you can play with any of the new stuff.🤔☺
There was also CTS Storm , widest of them all :)
No the widest was the CTS Thunerstick!
Hmm, Nor sure now , Storm was 32mm wide at the tip , anybody know the thunderstorm size? I did play with the storm for quite a while back In a day and I miss those specs , like Harry said , they don't make them like that anymore :)
@@countolaff Thunderstick was either 38 or 42 mm at the tip I believe.

I meant grip not overgrip, the overgrip only is 8grams lighter as only a overgrip, that is why the real sw Will be lower as 341

tenho duas desse modelo penduradas na parede do escritório, acho que vou renova las! rsrssrsr
RE: the spiral direction on that CTS Approach 110 racquet overgrip. Player was probably left-handed.
or shitfaced when he/she put it on there ;-)
I have 2 CTS Response

Where's Gu?
U missed CTS Precision! That was the thinnest, then Graduate, Lightning, Approach & Thunderstick
