We just visited shildon locomotion sister train museum to York railway museum. Some of the trains from RWM have temp moved to shildon and the flying Scotsman sits there too and you can view the can if there’s enough volunteers to show you how the flying Scotsman works.
I would imagine coming to the Museum in the Railway Series universe. Every engine there would love to chat and talk about their work history and chat for hours on end
A few things changed since my last visit about 8 years ago. Interesting that there are now some four wheel freight wagons off the main turntable - I thought that only locomotives were in that section.
l have just remembered that they move three locomotives from the nrm to locomotion and they used two west coast diesels a west coast rail class 37 and a west coast rail class 47
I wasn't? 📸 the video is the comparison from my last visit " what has changed?" Not documenting the book worm in the room that the entire museum got changed upside down in 24hrs, fair enough and does happen the museum collection does get moved around, you will definitely find something different on the turn table every time you visit! th-cam.com/video/i-F00kBttvY/w-d-xo.html
Haven't been here since 1984. One day........! Looks wonderfully quiet. The transport museum I go to nr Belfast with my kids a lot is similar. It's nice tbh! Not so good for business of course
2024 has been a mixed year for the NRM. The viewing balcony is back, Henry Oakley is now on display again, and Cheltenham will be staying for a while. The downside is the loss of Lancashire and Yorkshire No. 1008 which has left, and the fact that the Station Hall refurb has taken longer than initially planned.
The phrase, what's changed? Describes what has changed from my latest visit? .. hence the video is classed somewhat as a documentary and the previous video i did at the museum I was ranting on with commentary and subtitles.... 🙄 Some people like videos where you shut up and don't say a utter word, and others want you to waffle on and make the video entertaining so can't help everyone I'm sorry!. th-cam.com/video/i-F00kBttvY/w-d-xo.html Feel free to check this other video out : then you can compare the 2!. Then you'll know what's changed like I did 🫤

"Thank you for your feedback! Out of respect and personal choice, I decided against adding a running commentary or subtitles to this video. I aim to create content for those who appreciate it as it is. While I’m open to suggestions, I have to prioritize what I feel is worth the time and effort. I try to offer a mix of videos-some with commentary and some without-to cater to different preferences. Ultimately, though, I’m the one filming, and I make the final decisions. If this style doesn’t resonate with you, perhaps experiencing the location firsthand might be a better option. I truly value all my subscribers, but not every video will suit everyone, and that’s okay! "@@DonaldandDougles57646
Possibly the worst railway museum in the world. It feels like a cross between B&Q and an aircraft hanger. A dead, dystopian feeling that captures nothing of the atmosphere, shadows, beauty, comfort and romance that railways were imbued with until just a few decades ago. Modern railways are clinical, sterile, bright and 'in your face' compared to how they were - so why make the national railway museum exactly that?
There was a second half of this museum, 'Station Hall', that had more of an atmosphere. I liked it much better but it's closed for renovation at present. Hopefully they don't ruin it,
"Thank you for your comment. The camera panning was designed to provide a comprehensive view of the exhibits, not to irritate. Most viewers have appreciated the footage, but we understand not everyone will feel the same. If the video didn’t meet your expectations, perhaps visiting in person or recording your own perspective could be a better option. We strive to create content that resonates with most, but as you said, we can’t please everyone!"
Sorry. Fellow freind over seas in America! Definitely wanna say i can't wait to visit America in years to come!. Here's what 14/12/24 means 14th day of the 12th month of the year 2024 ☺️ Happy holidays
It's the sensible way the rest of the world writes dates - a logical DD/MM/YY progression, rather than the illogical way the Americans do it. But then America always has to do things different, even if it means it becomes worse.

They used to be in station hall i think they have temporaryly moved them ( i hope )
Thanks a brilliant video enjoyed it enormously... being not too clever on my legs it saves me paying a visit.
@@derekhartas3770 Glad you enjoyed the video!

Yes I saw the 31 that got moved to Shildon today at Locomotion
I was there on November 29th. Everything looks like they’re all in the same place!

Hopefully will do another video when the old hall that's been closed for about 3 years re-opens
So what has changed? Pleasant enough video, but I am no wiser. A bit of commentary or subtitles explaining what has changed would help.

Dear@EasternRailwayFilms I understand your reasoning but I do disagree
And not everyone does appreciate it
I’ve been there since April 2024
7:52 here’s my favorite European locomotive
The class 373
Is the tardis police box still near the tram line outside, it's tucked away but I saw it years ago
Not to sure
You caught me and my girlfriend on video 😂 the NRM is brilliant
@Matty20-u7i Fair enough 😂 Happy holidays!
Pity you didn't go into the model railway room. It's really interesting
Was considering that
I still can’t believe the royal train hall hasn’t reopened yet. I used to really like going there before it shut.
@@cosmos18764 due to re-open in 2025! I'll definitely be releasing a walk around video when it opens you have my word!
@ that’s great! Looking forward to it
Is the building on the other side of the road that used to be 'The Great Railway Show' and the South Yard no longer open?
The one that's been closed for restoration? That re-opens in 2025
@EasternRailwayFilms thank you. I didn't know.
Is this The national railway museum
York only has one NRM www.railwaymuseum.org.uk/search

With the camera panning at speed throughout, made the video irritating; viewed much better. TD.

Couldn't agree more! All of them need there steam back 🔥🎀
*National Railway Museum :)
What has changed is its not about trains anymore. Its full of woke rubbish eg the brammal exhibition
