@@williamsulman2646 having wealth ultra concentrated in an ever-diminishing pool of hands is the exact opposite of optimal conditions to run a small business in. Left wing political parties are better economic managers than the right in ANY western country. Wealth does not trickle down from the wealthy to the poor: it trickles up from the poor to the wealthy by the mechanism of debt and increases in production efficiency without paying labour (which creates the value in society) a fair representative compensation for that labour, by means of theft as well as wage stagnation. If you don't understand those three economic fundamentals, you're well insulated against economic realities, whether that's through ignorance or privilege, I couldn't say. @Ксенія♡укр I hink it has changed somewhat already.
We're all heading for a an almighty Sh*t storm that will eventually lead to prolonged stagflation (which would make a deep recession look like a picnic by comparison). So I would be expecting the Tories to be tightening the purse strings about now, but they're not. They're currently on a borrowing spree!
So I can't decide if this is incompetence or a strategy that embraces what is seen as the inevitable. A "We'll play them at their own game whatever the cost, so long as we win the next election" strategy.
Regardless, the Tories are the ONLY ones acting out of character here, and that in itself is a dramatic change in British politics. It'll be interesting to see how long they keep this up.

Not going to lie, this gives me a bit of hope. I'm really pleased to see that there is a shift among tory voters to desire nationalised utilities and services, to want more environmental issues to be front and centre. This is a great sign that there are yet people who can believe differently to me but with whom I could reasonably negotiate.
It's far too easy to fall into tribalism on either side of the aisle and seeing that there are yet tory supporters who are willing to agree with left wingers over certain things as a big positive

Big problem with English voters (and yes I’m singling out English as opposed to uk voters) is that they largely vote Tory as they feel it reflects their personal “brand”. I.e. they see themselves as upwardly socially mobile, hard working, etc - all the cliched things that Tory party markets itself as. English voters need to start actually looking in detail at the party itself, the personnel, its track record, policies etc. it’s not right to just vote for Tory your whole life “just coz I’m a Tory and that’s that”

A lot of the problems started when High Street banks introduced overdrafts on current accounts in about 1984. That never used to happen and it doesn't happen today in France, Germany or Spain, where if you need to borrow, you take out a loan! People were enticed into easy debt, with the banks acting like drug peddlers. It became 'normal' to go into the red, and banks then cleaned up by whacking huge fees and ridiculous interest on customers who strayed without permission. For those who get (surprise surprise) a poor credit rating, along come credit cards and failing that, Wonga and Co. Absolute sharks.

I worked from 16-29 in terrible jons that took advantage of (and ruined) my youthful exuberance. My NI and taxes which I am happy to pay because that is the price of living in a society (or at least us working/middle class people are told) However, it was a struggle to even get it. I don't know where these Conservatives think you can be handed a living from 'Benefits' and the 'system' by simply putting your hand out. My experience is the opposite. the job centre spend all their time trying to stop me claiming money I was entitled to/paid into instead of finding me work. yes, they wanted me off the books by offering me shop work and warehouse manual labour work even though I was a regional business manager when I was made redundant. too many people think it's al about the effort you put in. luck can be good and bad. Once these people have their comfort opinion externalised by another party they will stop the search and build defences around it. It's a form of keeping fear at bay, feeling secure, and it can be very successful if no particularly or immediately dangerous ignorance is held. It works until it doesn't, which lets it spread like any other behaviour.

One joker at 2:32 says if you:
    1) Want economic competence
    2) Want a government that is strong on law and order
    3) Want a government that is very supportive of the police and armed forces
    4) Want a government that supports the monarchy and our traditions
Then Conservatism is the only philosophy for this.
    I'd like to remind him:
    1) Highest tax burden and £2.3 trillion debt
    2) Rape convictions at record lows
    3) Still fewer police than in 2008, and armed forces figures have been declining every year since 2010.
    4) The last prime minister lied to the queen, prorogued parliament, ripped up the ministerial code, defended corruption within his own party, broke the law, and promoted a sex pest.....
    Yeah.... Conservatism.....

I used to think that Harry Enfield’s “Tim nice but dim “ was a make believe character but after seeing this I realise that his ilk really exists! Some people actually care about society and become porters, teachers, care workers, fire fighters, refuse collectors etc and should be well paid to create the base for a stable society. Ultra rich people don’t need any more help; that’s why we have a trickle up economy! Since the 1970s ASLEF and RMT have fought well for decent wages for some of their members and even they haven’t kept up with inflation. Since David Cameron was prime minister the average UK person’s spending power has fallen compared to the French, Germans, Dutch, Australians, Canadians etc. and on average we would need to earn £8,800 per annum extra to catch back up according to IFS and OECD! These figures were compiled before the energy increases! A bloke said that his parents came to the UK with £500 so what! When did they arrive and what support / connections did they have? If it was the 1960s for example that would have been a lot of money! Just because most people aren’t banker or property developer types they seem to patronise them.
