Holy shit when that music ramped up during the level 3 shortcut and it going into the level 3 power play with the dump truck was the most epic thing I've ever experienced. Top it all off, it was the final race. It was like it came out of a movie haha
God I keep always coming back to this video, it really has it all. The drama, the intenseness and how fuckin hype it gets I used to play this game when I was younger and man it still gets me so pumped, such a gem and its still so shitty how Disney treated the devs
Absolutely the finest arcade racer ever made. Awesome in every respect. I've never played a racer that amped up the adrenaline as much as this one... power play, passing cars into the final straight with the amazing music. Disney bought the studio after it was made, and shut it down. Infamy.
I dated a guy who worked on this game, but not for long.. This was made near where I grew up in Blackpool. Nice beach and sand dunes there that look pretty great walking at night. Such natural things feed the creative imagination. I remember that guy drove a Subaru Impreza. Ahh being young! :) I just turned 36 today.. Jeez.
Myself, I like to play games like Animal Crossing, Rune Factory, Harvest Moon though growing up and still do a little now. I look this game up coz I do so like that choral music song on this game.
I never really managed to get used to the handling of almost all the cars in that game. I think there were like 2 or 3 cars I picked over and over again because I couldn't use all the others at all.
Yeah, it takes some time getting used to all the cars since they handle all differently, which I think is for the better since it adds replayability to the game. :)
Which car is your favorite? Once I unlocked the Cobretti Slipstream, I used it for the entire remainder of the campaign. Its ability to slide around while still having control makes it amazing at building up influence quickly. I can reliably trigger the route change on Canyon on the first lap.
There was one of the DLC cars, the Hanzo Kanobo, that became my go-to car. Like the other trucks in the game it started off slow, but once it got up to speed it was damn near unstoppable
My Favorite is definitely the Cobretti 530 GTS cause once you're first place, nothing can ever catch up to you (unless you're bad at driving it and you don't know the map) but if we're talking about how fun the car is, it's definitely Cobretti GT RS, for how easily the drifting is to control, definitely a great car for starter drifters
Man, I aint an emotional dude but fuck me the music brings a tear to my eye. I was only 11 when I first played this. There still isnt a Split Second 2 yet there is Half Life Alyx.
3:56 with all these jumps i was expecting you to do tricks like in Sonic and all stars racing XD also, DAMN you, Aiden Pearce! why do you have to hack everything again? (Watch dogs reference)
So the ending of the game was the objects they used went rouge and now destroying everything also a funny bit, Skynet beings their takeover or the Decepticons started their attack.
Epic race! But that empty slot on the race menu always bothered me, it seemed like it was all 'unfinished'. Instead of having the final race through Down Town, the final, the most important, the most epic race of the season - the finale should have been a one or two lap marathon track combining the best features from all of the other eleven tracks. Now THAT would have been a Final Elite Race!
by empty slot you mean in quick play when you select a track? if so thats a dlc track. i do agree about the last race should of been every track combined. it would've worked because the world is fully realized kinda like the first dark souls. you can see downtown from canyon, you can see powerplant and drydocks from airport.
What is your favorite racing game of all time? Considering how many racing game videos you've been uploading lately, you must have a lot of knowledge about the genre.
Hard to tell, I love a lot of racing games. It's a tie between Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005, Grid and Flatout 2 for me (as in, these are the most played). :) Did you enjoy the gameplay though?
That cliffhanger ending will forever live rent free in my head
Same true….
Same.
I'll never forgive Disney.
Fast and furious crossroads : 80 gigs with ps2 graphics
Split second : 6 gigs with next level graphics and more action
This comment is criminally true.
@@Carrity and criminally underrated
so true. and those 6 gigs were so worth it
SS has less polygons on their model than Crossroads i say
And textures too
This game is still amazing today. The elite races were also gorgeous
Unlocking Rigg brawn live wire n vixen was pure eyesex

2020 and I still love this game!
Edit: 2023 and I still enjoy playing this game every now and then.
They weren't lying. They were just stopped before they could prove that they weren't.
Bro this was definately a game before its time. It gets no credit :(
is the game still locked on 30fps on pc?
@@iamsampled To me,it is in 30fps.
@@destroyerofworlds4663 Disney, the self-proclaimed best place in the world, did that.

3:28, I think we all know where this is going...
I got genuinely excited when I saw the tower in the distance as the driver took the drift.
There is nothing more exciting in a racing game to this day than dropping an entire air traffic control tower on Vixen and Torpedo.
😂🤣🤣🤣@@SnowyRoadTV
This is why I hate vixen. she’s the main threat in the power plant elite race.

Woman you dated an absolute giga-chad and didn’t even know it, this game rocks !
But Blackrock Studios were located in Brighton...
Such beautiful attention to detail in the soundscape 💙
Title screen mix at end stuff is one of my favorite tropes, both for games and anime.
I had it as my ringtone ha
Awesome gameplay mate you gave me goosebumps on the final lap 😁😁

so sad a sequel was never made.
As someone WHO LOVES SPLIT SECOND i would recomend that you should have use the slipstream
Elite GT12
Split Second made gameplay interactive soundtrack change before DOOM.

Ohh I loved it. And that's a good list (heck any list with Most Wanted 2005 is a good list).
Marius Urucu The best ones 😁
James Williams I did. Burnout 3 is my favorite. :)
@@MariusUrucu damn straight this nfs mw2005 blur forza and gran turismo 4 and burnout have to be up there
BIG FAIL o Disney's part, marketing this game. And all the other SNOBS who thought Disney were only about mermaids & cute talking animals.
This reminds me of one of Dat's tf2 smexuals. It's awesome!
Anyone playing this in 2021 ?
please, bro. can you guys maybe just use your fancy skills to remake Sonic 2006 as a "movie" instead? and give it a better storyline?
The studio's been dead since before the game came out. They got screwed by Disney.
Split/Second's gameplay + Blur's powerups + Transformers thematic + quick time events = omg i can't imagine it 😭
