I see so many American and British women still wearing multiple, heavy layers of makeup, lots of contour and highlighter, thick false eyelashes, tons of black eyeliner and nude lipstick - this is so out of style! I don’t think it’s flattering, either. I always wore the French natural makeup look and see no reason to ever change this approach, although I do update my products and techniques every few years with a professional makeup session at Nordstrom. Plus, my coloring is fading fast, at age 64, so I need to keep up with that. Most days, certainly when just at home, I don’t wear anything except my high-SPF sunscreen and Laniege lip balm, without which I can’t live! For going out, I only wear blush, lipstick and concealer, if needed. Unfortunately, my eyes can’t tolerate eye makeup anymore since I developed allergies to plastics, even hypo-allergenic brands. I suppose it’s the plastic containers these products come in, my eyelid skin just isn’t having it! I think less makeup is better as we age, also, too much only settles into and emphasizes fine lines and wrinkles. Young girls and women really love makeup, but after wearing it daily to look polished during my whole career, I’m happy now to simply or skip it. Skin care, especially sunscreen, is much more important.
