Yep you could not like this album for whatever reason but, like you said, this album is necessary for her discography. She need to put out an RnB album, because its the music that she has always wanted to make. Not only that, in Sweetener, she put on a smile to force herself to heal (NTLC, TLIC, successful, sweetener, and get well soon), then in Thank u Next, she revealed that her (7 rings, bad idea, BUWYGIB, imagine, ghostin and fake smile). In Positions, you can really feel that she's moving on from her trauma, not quite healed yet, but on her way to be.
this is an rnb album.....
My thing is why on her “RnB” album is she only talking about sex? Why weren’t there more songs like POV? Just too repetitive for me.
@@watercreamspalace sex is something that’s very intimate and vulnerable, and in this album she uses it as more of a way to showcase intimacy and love than anything lewd or raunchy.

I feel like also, Positions is perfectly placed, not just within the greater context of the album itself, but specifically because it comes after My Hair. As she said in the interview, she never usually lets other people (esp significant others) see her natural hair, choosing to let her signature straight hair be for work and her curly natural hair for when she's truly comfortable.
After West Side and Love Language, she now understands that her current SO is on the same page as her - they are equally as comfortable with her as she is with them, and she understands their own reservations/insecurities/etc.
Now that she understands all of that and they understand her like that too, she is now more comfortable to let them see BOTH sides of her (hair included), like when she says "Cooking in the kitchen and I'm in the bedroom / Running the olympics way I'm jumping through hoops". She's willing and able to be a great significant other to this new person because she's comfortable with them.

at first i didn't like some songs on the album, but i feel that to really appreciate the work of an artist, and to appreciate each song you have to be able to see more than just the production and the vocals, no doubt this reaction changed my perspective on the entire album and i am convinced that this is ariana's best work yet. i love her and i loved this reaction

I just hate some reactors blatantly saying negative feedback because they expect a pop Ariana album like gurl position is her most cohesive, lyrically and vibing album she have done. This is a very different album from all the others thats why lot of people didn't seem to like it. But to me this is one of my fav album of hers since I love RNB.
This album is really nice, I don't know why people don't realize. Although ,I still wonder why motive, my hair and safety net are not singles. Also where's pov's music video.
She could have just released positions ,34+35 and pov before the album dropped then after it dropped motive, safety net and my hair VEVO videos will be realeased

Rewatching your video! And I came to the point at the end of the song six thirty where yall said you couldn’t find the connection that made this album so cohesive.
The theme was commitment. Each song has a bit of moments where it questions commitment or where she wants commitment.
I think it could link back from her past relationships and because she has had so many, that she lost trust whether or not she could stay committed to a relationship!
