Hey there. im an amateur at fishing and i usuall go on trent near forest stadium. Would u mind giving me some tips for fishing as im new to fishing on river. Back in Poland i was fishing on some like water reservoirs with still water and rivers are quite new to me. Any help would be appreciated :) OFC subbed and liked
If your fishing for barbel on the trent you'll need at least a 2lb barbel rod. I have both 2lb and 2.5lb Korum barbel rods which covers me for low and high river levels. If you have carp rods you could use them to try barbel fishing to save on expense. You'll need 6000 to 8000 size reels with 15lb mono line on. A leader of 12lb mono line with size 4 to 8 barbless hooks depending on size of bait. Depending how strong the river is flowing flat or pear shaped gripper leads of 4oz to 8oz will cover most fishing. A tripod rod rest is better than a bank stick one and Korum do a nice adjustable double spiked one. Oh and don't forget a large landing net and unhooking mat. You'll mostly find barbel in the main flow or on the crease of it. Good luck

Never fished bobs island Euan. Peg one at smeatons for better quality fish under bridge against wall is good but can be a bit snaggy.

Pegs 1-10 or 12 have to be booked in advance. I believe theres a long waiting list.

Access is a long uneven dirt track with parking for around a dozen vehicles
