I just found out about this band. Having found out there was two different vocalist I think Brians voice really blends very well. If Chris was a guitar amp I would turn down his gain a little bit.
@@Star.Chaser His voice is more defined than Adrian's but that's probably because I didn't hear a lot of vocals like Adrian's around the time he was the vocalist
This song gives me vibes of a track that’s at the end of the album. I’ve been listening to it on repeat since it released, it’s easily in my top 5 Currents tracks I’m sure there’ll be more technical and better songs on the record, but this is still incredible I also love how this shows off Brian’s vocal range soooooo well. Chris is absolutely blessed getting to work with 2 incredible vocalists in Brian and Ben Duerr
They’ve become one of my absolute favorites. The Way It Ends was my favorite album of 2020 And currently (haha) I am listening to all of their stuff on repeat The Place I Feel Safest is one of my favorite albums of all time. So excited for new stuff
The way it ends is the best album they have released every single song is a banger like a lot of people say that but when I play a song off that album I have to start the album front to back
i actually love this a lot even the vocals that fade away under the instrumental because it's kind of symbolic of the vibes of the actual music video and the atmosphere of the whole song. love it
The mix I felt like was trying to be more Death core than what the song really was. When Brian hits those highs the mix feels like it fits perfectly but outside of that portion his vocals are sunken beneath the instruments. This is going to be one of those songs you hear live and it will be absolutely insane compared to the studio recording. Much love for currents cant wait to see what else they have!
This is my metalcore/deathcore song of the year for 2022 an band I absolutely loved this song it had it all in one song guitar work drum work bass the vocals harmonies a perfect 10000 million song bro 😎
I really liked that the music video & artwork helps connect this song with the other 2 albums in the story arc of it, if you will. Loved the lead/guitar work since TWIE felt very vocal focused but also liked seeing how much Brian has improved on this track trying/showing off new things like those highs.
I really appreciate your ability to be honest. I also thought the song was solid. But currents shined brightest for me on let the devil in and that’s the direction I was hoping for.
glad to hear I'm not alone. can't seem to get into their albums, but I Let the Devil In is one of my favorite metalcore releases in recent memory. that being said I like this single a lot
Red flower? I completely agree with all of your thoughts. This is yet another absolute banger of a track that will sit comfortably in Currents discography. Like you, I'm a little disappointed that they didn't experiment more or push the limits a little bit. This band has the potential to push it and create their own sound at this point, away from the rest of tbe bands that sound like them. Sure they are one of the front-runners of the genre, but there is still a little genericness to them. I love this band and would love to see them push themselves further in the future. Also agree with the mix, not sure what they were thinking but the mix kinda irks me a little, think they maybe could have worked it better. I'm hoping there'll be a re-mix when the album drops or something. Also before anyone calls me out, I'm not being a hater AT ALL. I love this band AND this song, and I just want the boys to reach those heights that they're so capable of hitting. As always, great video dude!
Yo Birb thanks for the review I loved it! I personally loved “The Way It Ends” so this song was a good one for me! As someone who spends way too much time mixing music, I would say that you’re absolutely right about what you said. With that out there, I also think it could be intentional because when I’m personally mixing something that I want to feel more ambient, I tend to sit the drums back further which reduces the punch. Get it wrong though, and it could end up sounding muddy. Overall I’d say the mixing was different but intentional for such a huge, wide, ambient track like this! Love your stuff man keep it up!
Currents is my #1 metalcore band so the fact that they are consistent is a pro for me. I’ve been scarred from my favorite bands growing up with like BMTH switch up and put out something that’s wildly different every album that having a band you’re really into stay consistent is a relief honestly
I love this song but was hoping for more impactful breakdown but still a very solid song because Currents. Also you should react to Oceans Ate Alaska - Nova. Their new album is so fucking good
I think it may be the Kezia flower. Could be wrong, but definitely looks similar to it. Kinda agree with your take here. I really like the song, I LOVE currents, but wouldn’t say this is their best song or anything. It’s really really good though, so not disappointed at all.
Love the track but I'm glad you pointed out the mix, I feel like the vocals & drums are kinda hidden behind the guitars. I feel like the drums mix coulda been a bit more punchy & Brian's vocals coulda been a bit more louder & bit clearer(?). This, for me, took away some of the atmosphere. But overall it's a great track, Currents has always been a favourite of mine, so I can't wait to hear this live when they come to the UK.
Really well done track imo, super epic in feeling which is what I get from them alot. Always love bands that blend in deathcore with metalcore so those high shrieks were cool. Much love Birb! RED FLOWER 🌹 🌷 🌼
The design on your shirt totally looks like the artwork for "withered" by the band for the likes of you. That's instantly what I thought when I saw your shirt. It could be a million things though.
This is by far one of the heaviest currents song I’ve heard from them other than Poverty of self which didn’t do all to much for me when it released. And when this dropped I was in the middle of teaching a lecture and I got the notification and decided to cut my lecture short and showed my students this song to end the lesson 🤘 but yeah this single was an absolute banger and I can’t wait for the future releases and hopefully we get an album announcement because this reminded me of “The Place I Feel Safest”
Nice shirt, when I heard this song I thought it was mid but then I realized I was just too excited for new Currents that I barely let myself enjoy it, and I love it now. Lot of little touches for me, that fact that instead of opening with a huge energetic riff and then dropping off for a verse, they kept the same energy and exploded into the verse, the fact that the second verse was completely different than the first, I personally love Currents' sing scream kind of bridges, very catchy chorus imho. I guess the mix is muffled if you want to looked at it that way? I think in about the first 5 to 10 seconds of vocals is the only time I notice it being weird to my ears, sounds a lot like Poverty of Self to me, which was unique and not the same sound of the rest of their last album so I dont think we need to worry.
Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love this band and this song. But people over hype Shit wayy too much. Definitely not a song of the year or whatever, but you can definitely hear that they got something wayyy better in store and possibly something new they have going for them! Personally I wish the breakdown was just a little bit heavier and just hit harder. Overall I will be listening to this at work haha.
That's also how I personally feel about these guys. Their older stuff had a lot more Deathcore elements, which I feel like maybe the guitarist wanted to stray away from, since he already has a deathcore project with Shadow of intent. Anyway, I really really enjoyed The place I feel safest, but after that I feel like they became one of those metalcore bands that has that "sound" that gets too repetitive and lack of novelty. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy it, but I get bored really quickly by everything they've released after The place I feel safest.
it's a red flower ! (i don't know actually just to say I made it to the end of the video) The song is pretty solid to me I really enjoy it especially with the lyrics and the heavier side of currents plus the callback to the artwork of the place I feel the safest in the music video is really sick (to me it sounds like it more than just two guys with a landscape and one holding a knife)
The Deathcore probably stems from the guitarist of Currents being the founding member/writer/lead guitarist of melodic deathcore band, Shadow of Intent. Chris Wiseman.
No disrespect to the band or anyone who likes them, they just don't do it for me personally. I do not understand all the hype this band gets. The vocals are great and the breakdown is cool, but there are no guitar riffs or hooks that would keep me coming back. Pretty basic rhythm guitar stuff I have heard a million times.
I honestly don't think Brian gets enough credit, everyone always talks about Chris Wiseman but to me Brian makes Currents.
Brian is such a fantastic vocalist. Screams, singing. He brings so much to their sound
Brian is such a good vocalist, has such a distinct voice, and incredible vocal range
He’s a gem
They both make currents
I just found out about this band. Having found out there was two different vocalist I think Brians voice really blends very well. If Chris was a guitar amp I would turn down his gain a little bit.
I think for me the biggest take away was Brian's vocals. Ever since the place I feel safest, he's become one of my favorite vocalist
Brian is a beast. He’s such a good vocalist and good person
I met him at a concert a while back, really chill dude
He seems like a mixture of Adrian from northlane, telle from twa and Sam Carter and it’s sick
@@Star.Chaser His voice is more defined than Adrian's but that's probably because I didn't hear a lot of vocals like Adrian's around the time he was the vocalist
He’s the only lyricist in the genre close to Brendan Murphy imo and that’s a tall order
This song gives me vibes of a track that’s at the end of the album. I’ve been listening to it on repeat since it released, it’s easily in my top 5 Currents tracks
I’m sure there’ll be more technical and better songs on the record, but this is still incredible
I also love how this shows off Brian’s vocal range soooooo well. Chris is absolutely blessed getting to work with 2 incredible vocalists in Brian and Ben Duerr
I’ve never agreed more with a TH-cam content before.
They’ve become one of my absolute favorites.
The Way It Ends was my favorite album of 2020
And currently (haha) I am listening to all of their stuff on repeat
The Place I Feel Safest is one of my favorite albums of all time.
So excited for new stuff
Same here! TPIFS is on repeat for the guitar work and overall heaviness where I feel TWIE lacked in most of the album (still a great album)
Melodic, atmospheric, and beautifully structured vocals. Currents has found their sound and I cannot wait for this new album.
I think this song shows how much Currents has matured, it’s a perfect combination of TWIE, ILTDI, and TPIFS
The kings have returned 🤘🏾
The way it ends is the best album they have released every single song is a banger like a lot of people say that but when I play a song off that album I have to start the album front to back
Totally agree, every track is amazing
This is a very safe Currents song. I cant wait for the next single, they are definitely going to take it in another direction
i actually love this a lot even the vocals that fade away under the instrumental because it's kind of symbolic of the vibes of the actual music video and the atmosphere of the whole song. love it

Always come back to reactions of this song, it always hits so hard. The 2nd half always has me breaking down
it has the same vibe as the I Let Devin In EP, its soo good hope the rest of the album will have the same blast as this song
These guys have been shifting in my top two along with erra for since 2017. Absolute banger of a song!
Best band out there, period.
Saw these guys for the second time last night in STL. They honestly never disappoint
this song reminds me when i first listen to currents, its Apnea and Into Despair. They bring their older style to this track, love it !
I really appreciate your ability to be honest. I also thought the song was solid. But currents shined brightest for me on let the devil in and that’s the direction I was hoping for.

it’s 1am here so yea rocking out 🎉
Super proud to call these guys one of the few local boi’s from Connecticut 🤘
Hard agree with all your pros and cons. We got a solid new Currents track. Hoping for some surprises on the next album or EP.
Yo Birb thanks for the review I loved it!

Brian’s cleans have a Cove Reber (Saosin) vibe. I love him.
I love this song but was hoping for more impactful breakdown but still a very solid song because Currents.
Also you should react to Oceans Ate Alaska - Nova. Their new album is so fucking good
This band has one of the best clean/heavy mix of vocals live. They would destroy having a bigger song list live too.
I really enjoy your channel, I think most of your opinions are very similar to mine when it comes to music taste! I can relate with each reaction 🔥🎸
the way it ends album i had on repeat for weeks
Can't wait to see them with Miss May I this month.
Great song, the tapping and the deathcore moments were the best ones imo. I def agree with you about the mix.
I think the singles and album following this will be their strongest work yet, this is just a taste.
i agree with your thoughts!!
"what this design is on my shirt"
Yesssssssssss
Was hoping you’d do a reaction to this! Let’s fuckin gooo!
Metaljesus🔥🔥🔥
I think it may be the Kezia flower. Could be wrong, but definitely looks similar to it.
Kinda agree with your take here. I really like the song, I LOVE currents, but wouldn’t say this is their best song or anything. It’s really really good though, so not disappointed at all.
You really need to react to the 156/Silence new album
I wholely disagree. I believe this sound pushed the emotion they pushed with The Way It Ends and adds more to it with the atmosphere
Love the track but I'm glad you pointed out the mix, I feel like the vocals & drums are kinda hidden behind the guitars. Definitely a Solid song from Currents.
Is that a Protest The Hero shirt?
This guy knows good music
Like the song still not up there with The Place I Feel Safest imo but better then the last album for sure.
Kezia
Really well done track imo, super epic in feeling which is what I get from them alot. Always love bands that blend in deathcore with metalcore so those high shrieks were cool. Much love Birb! RED FLOWER 🌹 🌷 🌼
Answer was Kezia but close enough man!
@@METALBIRB haha should have known, I'm a fake Protest the hero fan 🤣
I feel the mix was off a little bit too. Solid review man.
First Currents song i’ve ever heard, it was fine…
Red sunflower poppy thing
Update: this song bangs
Wait till you hear new Oceans Ate Alaska
Yeah the new album is such a vibe. On repeat for sure.
The design on your shirt totally looks like the artwork for "withered" by the band for the likes of you. That's instantly what I thought when I saw your shirt. It could be a million things though.
YEHHHH
Best band in the GAME
desing looks like a poppey or chrysanthemum
Please react to new Tallah’s new song “Shaken (Not Stirred)”! It’s god status! 🔥🔥🔥

It is but not the exact answer!
Protest the hero, Kezia?
I felt pretty much the same. It was a good song. But it’s not something I’m going to have on repeat.
Amazing track.. I think it would be better live. Yeah the mix does have that muffled feeling, it really bothers me.

ya i’ve tried so hard but i can never find a groove or a hook to catch onto that would stick w/ me for awhile, to put on repeat.
