Pilea leaf propagation

  • Yes, you can propagate a pilea plant from a single leaf, but you need to cut a tiny piece of the trunk together with the petiole. In about 1 month, you will get new leaves growing.
    Without the tiny piece of the trunk, the leaf will grow roots for months, and will never grow new leaves.

    ➡️ www.mrhousepla... (Amazon) - Heat mat (place underneath the propagation vessel to warm it up, can cut propagation time in half)
    IF YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH NATURAL LIGHT, YOU CAN USE GROW LIGHTS TO SPEED UP PROPAGATION:

    Note: this only works if you have part of the main stem because only this part has the genetic material to make a new plant. So make sure to take part of the main stem like he did.

      Excellent. Just know that like with any other cutting, you should provide it with plenty of bright indirect light, replace water regularly and hope for the best. Not every cutting will propagate, that is just nature :) But pileas do propagate very easily, so your chances of success are pretty high :)

      I tried this and it died.

      @@miamia7949 Of course, that's normal. Not every cutting can survive, like with every plant. You should take multiple cuttings :)

      Mia Mia so far i took 3 cuttings on the day i posted this comment. I have them under blue and red LED Grow lights and one is growing a nice thick root ☺️ the others havent died but i dont yet see any root growth. I had dipped all in rooting hormone.

      @@MagKnitts For me it took about a month to get new leaves to grow :) I kept them in an east facing window, with a few hours of direct sunlight in the morning. I haven't tried under artificial lights, to see how long it would take, but then again, it depends on the intensity of the light and how many hours a day you have it on. But if you are getting roots already, that's excellent :)

    this is fine if you just want a one leaf plant. It will not grow into a whole plant.

    • @MrHouseplant
      @MrHouseplant  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi, the plant will get new leaves, you just need to cut a leaf with a small piece of the trunk, for a cutting. 😊
