I didn’t ride out to the rigs often, but it was always a thrill ... for the guys that did it every two weeks, not as much. Sat in the jump seats. Was always amazed at the windows vibrating as the air pressure moved them in and out and the sound.
I crewed this very same model in the U.S.A.F in an Air Rescue unit stationed in Homestead AFB in the 70's My bird's tail number was 69-6640 and it performed beautifully. God, I miss those days!
I work for KIWI Helicopters with the bigger version of this in the early 1990's, a 212 Super Transport when we logged Abel Tasman NP and down the West Coast in the Native. What an awesome beast. Fun days big tree's .
Makes me SMILE that Sound- everytime. This high frequent sound of the turbines is like going UP UP UP and I think *wow how much more* IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII YEAH
I grew up in northern Canada in the 70’s in what was a unique setting in a remote location. We had Hueys and Hughes 500’s and Jet Rangers doing mineral exploration work hauling samples and equipment coming and going constantly day in day out landing just across the dirt road from my house. No fences or anything separated their area off we just knew not to ride our bikes and play over there. To me I didn’t think anything of it and it was all just background noise with the other interesting things taking place at that place. Seeing this take off that close took me back to those days. 🙂
Many workers at cherry orchards know this kind of process well. From what my dad told me, cherries will be ruined while still on the trees if rainwater that falls on them is allowed to just drip off and dry naturally because it will cause their skins to rip open. The fix most operations go with is to have a private helicopter on the property for after a rainstorm, with the pilot having instructions to make a low fly-by of the entire field of cherry trees, effectively using the downdraft known as rotor wash to blow dry the rain-soaked crop before profit-breaking damage happens.
Pretty sweet. I love the sound of that engine spooling up, as well as the green, gold, and white color combo. And also, one of my town's local restaurants is called the Skyline Cafe. I eat there for breakfast every Sunday morning with my family, and sometimes lunch when I'm in the mood for it.
Thanks very much for watching, I think this paint job looks pretty good as well. That is interesting the restaurant you visit and this company share the same name :-D
Same rythm as the 'Nam birds. Amazing to watch the power from startup to flight in short order. Reliability on top of the complexity always amazes me. Wish I can work on rotor skills some day.
LOVELY opening shot!! A stunning photo on it´s own. The footage and engine, rotor, propeller sounds are all amazing! What a treat you had there! Enjoyed watching very very much, especially in 4K! :-D

Expensive to ride in as well. My wife suffered a massive stroke in 2019 and was taken to EGRMC in Statesboro Georgia to be stabilized and the flown to MCG in Augusta. That 75 mile trip cost $90,000. Thank God for insurance.
Yeah, the characteristic wicked sound they make! :) Aside from that, they're easier to store compared to a fully articulated or rigid system, as the blades can be aligned with the fuselage, allowing multiple aircraft to be stored closer together, and since there are fewer parts overall, maintenance can be lower than other systems as well. After that, you start to see more disadvantages than not. I still like 'em, though.

The flowers just bouncing along with rotor wash is pure cinema 😅
I was just looking for a helo startup😅
That's one beautiful Twin Huey, Love the sound and always enjoy watching them fly, you've been busy while I was away on vacation. Thumbs Up.

I love how the chopping noise intensifies as the pilot changes the collective to provide downward thrust.

My question is: What is a realistic minimum time for engine start - take off?
In an emergency if you had to get in the air asap.
It's been 4 years and still no response
When I was in HS (1980), an Army Huey landed on campus and the pilot said they could start it and be in the air in under a minute. This was the single engine UH-1H, may be different for a UH-1N/212.
Oh, WOW!! That helicopter flew over my house 2 times this year

What your mileage range on a tank of fuel?
Just over 400km on the 212.
When you hear that sound... you know help is on the way.
The only thing I don’t like about bell 212s is that they burn a lot of fuel per hour
The sound is very good

It took off after burning half of fuel in the tank. So that it became light enough :)
Burn rate 100 gal/hour regardless of circumstances.

Are there any advantages to two-blade rotors apart from a lower purchase cost?
Polish Blues no

No danger of ground resonance like some other rotor systems, but there is the danger of mast bumping.
