  • Quite a lot of freight, although there seemed to be a lot of empty container wagons at times. A whiff of steam with Black Five 45212 moving to the Nene Valley Railway on loan from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway to work the Christmas Santa Specials. A trip on the ECML down fast for Network Rails Video Inspection Unit 153385. Class 37, 37611 hauling empty coaching stock to Yarmouth and four class 43's also moving to Yarmouth before being exported overseas.

Quality footage. Difficult with those strong winds.

Thank you for watching Vincent. The wind was very gusty on the 13th making it difficult for me to keep still and hold the camera steady, I even had to resort to wearing my trapper hat with a chin strap so that didn't blow away as well, all part of the fun to bring you video content.🤣🤣🤣

Incredible how the dive under is used more now than when first became operational. Love the video however.

Yes, it was never going to be an overnight transition when it was first opened. The timetable has been adapted since to make more use of it but occasionally we still get a freight running early or late that can cause a bottleneck on the Stamford lines as seen at the end of the video. Since the closure of Peterborough Power Signal Box and the transferring of operation to York it seems that York are still coming to terms with the complexity of movements in the Peterborough area.

How many steam engines have used the dive-under? Can't remember whether or not this is the first.

Good question. Actually there have been quite a few I have videoed, A4 Sir Nigel Gresley, LMS Duchess of Sutherland, 7029 Clun Castle, Black Five 44871. The Black Five in this video is the first one I have seen going south through the dive under, all the others where going north towards Lincoln.

You are on the door step of one of the busiest parts of the rail network Andy. Hope you enjoyed the video.👍

Loved it. I've viewed the traffic from the Marholm Road bridge a few times
