    You know how you read something over and over or watch different You-tube instructors tell you something and you get it mentally, but somehow cant translate it to your own swing until all of a sudden you get it, not just mentally, but physically. That just happened to me with this video. No matter how hard I tried to match what I was told, I would still fall off my back foot or turn with my weight still on both feet.....until I did what you said....and now my finish is clearly on my front foot, I can tilt my shoulders at impact without hitting behind the ball. Thank-You.

    Great instruction as always. The only doubt I have is where should the hips be at impact? Looks like in your swing, your hips are facing the ball. I thought having the hips more open at impact was the goal like the swing you should at end of video. Or is that over thinking it? I get pushes and was thinking if hips were more closed that would straighten swing path. But my hips seem to stall or maybe that is not my problem at all.

  • @deanstout4064
    @deanstout4064 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    what must happen for the swing you are describing with the sway of the hips to be completed as successful with a three quarters backswing. The tendency would be to hit behind the ball and not ball first.

  • @3pdad
    @3pdad 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have a tendency to do the opposite, and sway my hips away from the target during the backswing. Are there any drills you can suggest to stop this from happening? Aside from “don’t do that”, what should I be feeling, as I take the club back?

    I am getting the shift and turn but the more I do it the closer the strike gets to the heel.

  • @carlor.s.4742
    @carlor.s.4742 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That shift is so important & that timing is so interesting in that one should start moving the hips forward before the backswing is even finished. When I do it right I think it helps me with my early extension problem.

    Hi Rob, very confused with the variety of professional view points of the hips in the swing. I have to ask you this one question please, does this action that you are demonstrating only apply to golfers using the S/T method?

  • @KH-rh7yq
    @KH-rh7yq 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rob, great video and VERY insightful. Getting hips forward for me seems to reduce rotation and causes head to fall back. I've been focusing on keeping hands very close to body on downswing and almost finishing with the "umbrella" look and no conscious sliding of the hips. This has really helped in keeping my hips out of the way of my hands. If I focus on hips moving forward I tend to slide too much, early extend, and lose angle in shaft vs. forearm among other things. Am I on to something? Thanks!

  • @PC-pd7hl
    @PC-pd7hl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for for the great lesson. On the exact movements of the hips, wouldn't a top down view be even better, as we can then see a cross section of the hips in the plane of rotation, more or less, and exactly how the hips shift and rotate in that horizontal plane. During the swing, where should we picture the location of the pivot or centre of rotation? Left / right hip, navel/tail bone, or a point in between those ? Or is this going into too much detail?

  • @bballglennster

  • @dannicksic2506
    @dannicksic2506 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rob, the forward movement looks pretty similar between your S&T swing and standard swing with the best ball strikers. The rotation seems to be less as your hips dont seem to be cleared or open as much. Why is that?

  • @ebttt
    @ebttt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was looking at your swing at impact I would think your hand need to be father in front of the ball. I guess I'm asking is that sufficient shaft lean
