This is a famous Sufi poem by Amir Khusro - "Phool Khile Sarso Sakal Ban". The subject of this poem is a forest with blooming mustard flowers, cuckoos singing, maidens embellishing themselves, and gardeners carrying garlands to (Nizam's) house. All this is happening while Nizam sits in his house with eyes full of tears, and a longing for his lover who hasn't shown up for years. In my eyes, Amir Khusro explained the circumstance of every being, who not only plays Nizam's role but also the role of this forest with mustard flowers or a maiden lost in her beauty. Isn't this how our days are? There are moments when we feel complete and happy. No matter how rare, there have been such moments. And then there are days, when we look longingly towards the sky, with a desire that even this world cannot seem to fulfil. It astonishes me as to how the same cosmic indifference that brings tears to our (Nizam's) eyes, plays the role of life's beauty - the sun setting, the waves thrashing, flowers booming, and birds chirping. Man will never understand why this world schemes against him. But there will always be a sunrise to look at, facing which he can shed his tears, crying in the lap of the same world that had once caused the demise of his wishes.

This song is in awadhi, how come amir khusro, an urdu learned made such composition without any help. People of india have been fed with wrong history all this while. Legend has it that Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya was enormously aggrieved and distressed by the sudden and untimely death of his nephew Taqiuddin Nooh. He withdrew himself from all worldly affairs and started avoiding mehfils and meeting his followers. This became a worrisome situation for his disciples after some time - as they tried many a ruses to cheer their master up but failed. Then one day, Amir Khusro (one of his most favorite disciples) saw some young women draped in yellow clothes and adorned with marigold flowers, singing and dancing in delight - as they went to pray in a temple nearby, on Vasant Utsav (Spring Festival). Seeing this Khusro immediately attired himself up in yellow 'Ghaghra and Chunni'; hung garlands of marigold around his neck and with a bunch of sarson(mustard) flowers in hands, went straightaway to his masters room. There he started dancing and singing to his self-composed song. This gesture of Khusro brought a smile on Hazrat Nizamuddin's face and since then every year for more than seven centuries now, Sufi Basant has become a regular festival.

This is raag Bahar, with notes very similar to raag Malhar. The sequence Ma Pa Ni(lomal) Dha Ni(Shudh) Ni(Shudh) Sa is found in both Malhar & Bahar. However both these raags are very different in terms of mood and expressions. Malhar is mostly sung in the lower octave to mid octave whereas Bahar is an Uttarang pradhan raag and sung from mid octave to upper octave. Malhar is associated with monsoon season. The very name is combination of "mal" meaning dirt and "har" sensing to get rid of dirt with the fresh droplets of monsoon.. whereas Bahar is a raag that welcomes the season of Spring and fertility.

He admired the simple ,soothing,inspiring and composed demeanor. He then made it famous in praise of H. N. Auliya. The whole song is in awadhi language, not a iota of urdu is present. It was later modified by the 'Anu Malik' of Delhi-Amir Khusro. Whose composition have been inspired from many local songs.
