It felt like an old school weekend when teams at the top could lose now and again and there was some drama. Back when it was fun. Back before City sucked the fucking life out of it. Maybe they'll sue the league if they lose again.
I am getting really fed up with much of the narrative around Szobo. Of course we know he can be a lot better with his passing and his shooting, because we have seen him do those things so much better. BUT we absolutely cannot ignore what this lad does for us when the opposition has the ball. He has the engine, physicality and speed that nobody else on our books can match. The speed with which he closes gaps and closes down opponents, and the strength and power he bring into the duels just will not come from anyone else in our midfield. It reminds me a lot of Gini - most supporters will only appreciate what he does when we don't have him in the team.
Credit the ref. He let everything go and that whipped up the atmosphere. Saw a stat at Newcastle (v Arsenal). There was, I think, 22 minutes of ball in play in the first half. A similar thing would have taken all the momentum from this game, but the ref let it flow. That lead to the confrontations and tackles that sparked the crowd (just as City were going 2-0 down, which was another factor)..
I genuinely feel if we have everyone fit and Nunez / Diaz be a lil more consistent we have a big chance to do this. Also to add a lil more on the game maybe the cup in midweek played a part… it’s very awkward to play the same team within 2 days and Brighton finished that game very strong on Wednesday. Maybe they had more energy to take a revenge early on… for me macca and dom’s minutes needs to handled very seriously..!endo plays first 60-65 and Curtis gets two 90s this week.. hopefully Harvey recovers quickly to rotate with dom .. we seriously need chiesa, jota , Harvey from dec- march
Good to hear that Ian's not been dropped, despite his managerial mix up within the first five of the butty😂 Adam's right, I have noticed too that occasionally 3pm Saturday kick-offs can give good results when Citeh are playing simultaneously. Now Slot has stuck a metaphorical 2 fingers up at the league/TV schedulers giving us 12:30 Saturdays we might not get so many of those🤞🏻🤞🏻
Gvardiol - Stevie Nicol Gotta love the joke about that comparison. My concern was that City had now found their new Gundogan (having re-signed him to fill in the gaps in the rest of their attackers scoring last season). An article in Saturday's paper about 10 City players out injured - 4 or five of whom started/played/benched for them on Saturday, so not so quite as bad as the press was making out. Everything you're all saying today was going through my head since Saturday, so maybe you're all guiding my own thoughts in advance of seeing the show nowadays 😂
Early days for Slot, of course, but so pleased he goes into this game with a fantastic start. We wouldn't want to obsess on not getting Alonso who is now nailed on for R Madrid.
Top show, guys, I love the channel always and topped it off with a great weekend and, most importantly, a great comment of that have a look raise the eyebrows 😅😅😅😂
Slot said several times about winning duels but szobo, macca and Curtis when he started look passive or struggling. I think we could do with Endo just crashing about a bit more plus one really dominant center mid to rotate better. Were loosing on energy and aggression
Agreed, mate! 22:37 I dont want to be overly pessimistic because I'm over the moon about how the boys have started under Slot, but the quality is lacking in significant ways. We're not conceding, but we're also just not attacking well or creating consistent significant chances. Being honest about how poor they are performing for almost entire halves shouldnt be dismissed or lead to questions about the love & support of the club. Against strong sides, this kind of forcing wins from singular moments of magic isnt sustainable.
we have 2 RB, 2 LB, 4 CB. MF of Endo, Jones, Graveberch Mac Allister, Szolbiha Morton, plus Elliott that is 7. Forwards of Diaz, Gapko, Nunez, Salah, JotA injured Cheisa ? That is 6. Only area of concern is suspensions from bookings. Forwards we can always move Nunez right side and MO centre where it as worked a few times, maybe not by design , but Nunez does get to the byline. Macca playing to many games that is a fact
Our results wont hold out with these performances. We've shown a lot of heart but we need to start showing a bit more football. Arsenal get Saliba and Odegaard back and it's a big jump up, I'm not sure where we get our jump up unless a fair few of our players improve their game with the ball. I'm made up where we are and how we grind it out but I don't think it's possible for us to do it for a whole season, the bounces that go your way will eventually go the other.
The club HAS to break its over 30 policy for certain players. Mo and Virgil are so good and so important, and show no signs of slowing down. Even if they do drop off after one more year it's a risk worth taking.
certainly think against chelsea, arsenal and brighton.... liverpool have lost the midfield / tactical battle imo. but its reassuring to know that we came out the other side when there is so much room to improve. our XG in both goals is insane at the moment, but would just be nice to dominate games more convincingly. still feels theres a few gears left for the side to step up
Agree with Adam re Mo. Shambolic that the club have allowed these contracts to get to the state they are now, cannot believe they are seriously considering letting three of our finest players going for nothing, it’s appalling and negligence of highest order!
Trent looked like he was somewhere else in the first half........terrible. Joe and Curtis were the game changers. Both tremendous players. Am I right, Mo just passed Robbie's goal record?
@@paulscanlon7287 Obviously not all the time but a lot of the time. World-class means you're 8/10 for four out of every five games; Trent struggles to do even one out of the five. Scousers consistently blank out his shocking performances but remember his good games forever. He's simply not world-class & trust me if he goes to Madrid, those fans won't be quite as forgiving...in fact, Trent should probably buy a £500 old banger to park in the Bernebeu car park on match days!
Ronaldo, Pirlo, Modric et al haven't played the majority of their careers in the Prem. We're always talking about how intense this league is. I just hope we win one of the big 2 this season & that will be the perfect way to say goodbye to Mo & replace him with Semenyo.
I love Gomez as much as the next red, but no one here mentioned Napoli away, that performance was next level horrific and Klopp lost all trust in him at CB.
FSG is big obstacle to our league title push. We should protest if they are trying o sell nunez or szobo and flip them for a cheaper potential racket. The re-contracts stalling shows they are not willing to use our clubs money and instead trying to use the flip money difference to pay for it making our future young squad worse.
I'm sorry, please don't use Sobo as a scapegoat when critiquing the midfield on Saturday. Mac and Grav were just as bad, if not worse. I think alamming Sobo seems to be a habit. Yes, he's been poor, but I see him play for Hungary, and he's a totally different player. Either Mac is playing with an injury. He's not fully for, or he's just in terrible form. What I do know is that he shouldn't start the next game.
After years of Henderson getting away with 3’s and 4’s out of 10’s for months on end, with no one calling him out on it, I find this stuff on szobo infuriating. The lad is actually doing actual defensive work on the ball and has more quality on the ball, admittedly it could be better but I’ve heard less noise about a player performing worse.
Sobo has fantastically filled the Hendo role. His workmate to cut out passing lanes, his dummy support runs into channels to allow room for Salah, and his covering to allow Grav to spin on the ball. I love the midfield 3 of Gravenberch, Jones, and Sobo. It's well balanced and creates the right support for our forwards to win games

Sorry but the thought of Liverpool Football club bargaining with two of the greatest players we have ever had, feels cheap. This is not the local flea market FFS ! I understand club >>>> any player but there is a limit. Pool needs to stop dicking around and give these guys what they want. SMH. No other club in the world would let so many players leave for free like we have let alone players like VVD, Mo or Trent. Letting Bobby, Sadio and Gini Winaldum leave for free was bad enough. Absolutely shambolic management that we have reached this stage to be honest and feels cheap.
@@mpat01 A little bit; but my point is valid I think: that Liverpool need a creative No. 10 - like Coutinho (or Bruno). Maybe Harvey Elliott can do the job when he comes back.

Exactly. Just imagine how good the league would be without Lance Armstrong FC in it cheating since 2008 and allowed to get away with it.

Has anyone else noticed that the only time wrap contributors mention Tsimikas is to criticise him?

Szoboszlai just needs to improve his decision making in the final 3rd and he’ll be fine
