    For tip #51. Make sure that the vehicle isn't squad locked either. If it is then you can put stuff in the vehicle but can't take it out or use it until the squad lock turns off (which takes around 45 mins). To check, you can create your own squad by yourself and if the vehicle will not give you the option to put the squad lock on, it means the vehicle is already locked to another squad.

    • @RobertLovesGames
      @RobertLovesGames  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      True! I should have mentioned squad lock for sure! My way of checking squad lock is putting default hammer into truck then trying to pull it out. If it's squad lock your hammer will get stuck.

    • @warwizard1309
      @warwizard1309 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can try locking the vehicle yourself to test if it has a squad lock.

    "Never go prone you will die" 1:04 is not good advice, going prone can be very powerful in the right situation, like in a longer range fight in the open, in a duel or against a smaller group.
    Just don't stay prone at a chokepoint where you need to worry about grenade spam and tanks, you won't be able to get up to react fast enough.
    A tactic I love to do when I'm getting chased, is to turn around and prone as fast as I can, usually the ennemy wont see it coming.

    • @RobertLovesGames
      @RobertLovesGames  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I would agree that sniper prone or even ATR prone is good in certain situations.
      As basic infantry though you should 99% of the time never be prone.
      That is what we in the call of duty world call a drop shot ha. Didn't think they work very well in this game.

    • @haaxeu6501
      @haaxeu6501 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RobertLovesGames Yea you're right new players tend to go prone too often and it makes them easy targets, it's all about learning when to do it and when not to.

    While looking at stockpiles and seaports on the map you can press tab to cycle through your regiments private stockpiles and then back to the public stockpile.

      That is an excellent tip! Thanks for sharing that!

  • @hoagy4429
    @hoagy4429 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

    other tips:
    you can package a container from a refinary/seaport crane, don't get out and do it manually and you can use other cranes (faciliy/mobile) at seaports/refinaries not just the prebuilt ones
    ctrl click on the map will past your coordinates into the chat box.
    you can alt click on recent bodies to see the name (and regiment) of who just died, both friendlies and enemies.
    when in the spotter seat for a gunboat, set your camera to legacy mode to see much easier
    alt click on items in your inventory to drop them
    assembling items from storage using a vehicle is much faster than doing so on foot. small trains are even faster
    the main cost with logistics generally isn't raw resource cost but instead transferal and delivery time. Therefore when transferring crates from a backline to a front line try and be bmat efficient. (1 crate of 40mm is ~8 crates of emats/bmats whereas so very efficient to bring to the front wheras 1 crate of radios < 1 crate of bmats so your better of just bringing bmats and using a factory on the front line)
    with only a little bit of juggling you can fit the bmats/emats for a full mpf of 40mm in the inventory of 1 truck and some in your inventory

    • @RobertLovesGames
      @RobertLovesGames  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These are great tips! Thanks for adding them! Since I don't go to the front very often I always forget about alt clicking to drop items ha
      True with transfer and delivery being the toughest part. Which is why I probably like it the most when doing logi. I know I am making a huge difference by simply moving supplies from backline to midline.
      Thanks again for sharing these!

    More tips:
    * sandbags, trenches, and foxholes are amazing tools that make a front more interesting and enjoyable for both factions, don't listen to salty vets, grab a sandbag or a shovel and help out whoever is building up a front
    * crouching inside a trench or foxhole will make you invisible to the tanks but you will still be able to see them coming, wait for them to get close but keep in mind where their turret is aiming at
    * on the other hand, if you are playing tank crew, trenches and sandbags are your worst nightmare, assume there's always an anti tank crew hidden inside or behind them, don't hesitate to blow trenches up, and sandbags can easily be dealt with by running them over with any vehicle, but don't use a tank for this, use an expendable truck, an empty resource truck is the best tool for this
    * as much as infantry needs medics, tank lines need combat engineers, but repair from the sides, never from behind, and don't encumber yourself, you are not a builder, you are there for fast repairs
    * push guns can also hide in bushes, and they also cannot be seen if behind a wall a house or similar obstruction, use the terrain to your advantage
    * as a tank gunner facing push guns, aim for the push gun gunner, you can hit him with splash damage from the side
    * as a tank driver sharing the line with push guns, use your tank as shield for the push gun, stick very close to their sides so the enemy tanks cannot hit the push gun crew
    * a storage box provides both cover and storage space for scavenged gear, so that players might resupply without going back to base
    * shipping containers can be stacked, this is not just useful for logi, a container can be of tactical advantage to infantry, as they can be used to block the way (and visibility) or provide a high ground position (which we know from star wars makes you invincible), sandbags can be built or a pallet placed behind a container to be used as a stepping stone to climb over the container, and other things can be placed on top of them, like flak guns (it's a bit finicky but it's possible), just try it for yourself and start thinking vertically
    * field bridges can't make it all the way to the other side of a river since the naval warfare update made the rivers wider, but you can also swim farther now, so you don't need the bridge to make it all the way to the other side
    * also field bridges are still an amazing tool to break a bridge stalemate, don't underestimate the difference that makes being able to cross faster to the other side of a broken bridge (or carry large items like tripod guns over to the other side), if you see people trying to build a field bridge over a broken bridge, help them
    * you can ride on the back of a flatbed, and use most guns from there (there are exceptions like grenade launchers and rpgs, can't remember all of them right now)
    * you can refuel while moving, if the fuel tanker moves along side you
    * you can refuel naval vessels in the middle of the sea, using a barge carrying a fuel tanker
    * an arty shell does not damage anything below the place it hits, so being in a hole is a much safer place while being shelled by arty, this is also the reason why people build watchtower blueprints around a bunker being shelled, if the shell hits the blueprint, it doesn't do damage to the bunker (and if the devs ever ask who's responsible for this becoming a thing, it definitely wasn't me, honest)
    * a foxhole or trench can save you from freezing to death
    * you can clean yourself from mud inside a T2 or better bunker or other building interiors, just run in circles till the mud is gone
    * there's a lot more to learn, but the best advice there is "be creative, think outside the box"

    Tip 101 is actually something you should carry with you IRL. People are way more likely to help you with something if you specifically chose someone instead of waiting for a volunteer. Obviously don't do it too often (people generally don't like getting ordered to do something) but if something needs to happen immediately it can come in handy.

      Exactly. Hard agree with this. I was actually taught in First Aid and CPR class this that you need to pick and point at someone to call 911 instead of just saying "someone call 911." I think of it the same way in Foxhole when you need something done.

    The advice to join a regi if you want to LEARN the game is really good advice. Lots of people get solo supremacy syndrome much too early, or think that solo play is the best way to play casually, and that’s just not true, the game is too dense with meta and obtuse mechanics to really be able to learn and enjoy it without some other players to help you.
    There’s absolutely nothing wrong with playing solo, and you can always leave later, but joining a regiment is the best way hands down to actually learn the game do that you can commit to that solo lifestyle

    • @RobertLovesGames
      @RobertLovesGames  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You got it exactly right! If you want to play casual solo is fine. Just know you may be limited in some activities that you do or what you build. I have a lot of solo hours and can always find something fun to do.
      Regiments will help you learn this game quick and you can participate in bigger operations and use higher tier items more often.

    The prone one is funny, it’s more that because there’s not height features (6 inches highthat in IRL make a prone spot tactically worthwhile. If you’re on a high ground, prone is worthy as folks have to look up. And you make room for a friendly to shoot behind you over your shoulder. It’s risky but has its place.
    Regarding trucks: ah yes, there’s a lot of tension between taking one because they’re cheap and you’re doing useful work, vs. grabbing for what a motorcycle or bike could do better. Mostly intruband go with the carpool rule: get one person in there with you, or use it to help someone specific that asked for something specific. (God I hate hammering out a CV to schlep supplies into a Border base-) It’s even worse with barges, which take a lot more time to hammer out early game and make a big difference on whether an island can do useful warfighting or not.
    A “littoral warfare annex” to this (boat tips) could be fun

    • @greatbrandini3967
      @greatbrandini3967 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Faction doesn't matter. The game is probably worth it because there are so many different tasks or combat roles that you can do. For starting out, it really depends on what you want out of the game. Generally, just going up to the front lines and trying to play infantry is a decent place to start.
      The best and worst part of Foxhole is how complicated the game is. If you're going to buy it, be prepared to be patient and not fully understand how everything works for a few hundred hours at least. Barebones basics can be learned in a handful of sessions though. My most recent learning experience was how to attach things to the hitch of trucks

    When shadow dancing if you get hit go prime or crouch

      Because if you get hit, you can’t move that well, so if you crouch you have a better chance of surviving because if you’re here you’re dead

    Do not dig trenches in straight lines. Do not connect every trench to each other. These make you an enemy asset and the reason why salty vets hate trenches.
    Use smoke grenades, for god's sake use them to obscure your own movements from enemy rifles or to stop the AI from firing.
    A bunker can hold three people but makes you susceptible to suppression. Firing slits ensure more people are firing out of a bunker but leaves you susceptible to return fire. Make sure the firing slits are facing towards the enemy's direction.
    Foxholes, the real ones, are only as good as where you have dug them. Done right and you'll be a major pain to uproot.
    Do not place barbed wire directly in front of a trench. Place them at least 25 meters away.
    1:06 Going prone is not a universal suicide stance, it can and does save you from dying immediately out in the open but don't use it all of the time. Only when the situation calls for it.
    Mass charges are fine and all but doing them with grenades increases the likelihood for success. Speaking from the delivering and receiving end of successful storm tactics. Throw grenades, go over the top, hear the boom, gun down the stragglers running or bleeding out.
    Do not stay in one position in a trench unless you're mounting a gun.
    Learn how to use the goddamned mortar. Even that small amount of fire support is valuable.
    Bring some guns for a mammon rush. Those few seconds of the rushers not being focused down can make all the difference.
    Do not run around in urban combat. At every corner, a gun can be pointed at you. Run with caution from cover to cover or building to building with a purpose.
    Advice is advice not the word of gospel.

      I didn't get a name but a buddy was telling me about two weeks ago that a clan he joined when he first started had mandatory hours for players to log on to make sure mssups were in there base to keep it up.
      I have never seen one of these clans but I am sure they are out there.

    • @Scarletlord

      Well if they do exist they won't exist for very long. 82DK hold scrap patrols and Logi sessions but if anyone suggest making them mandatory they would be laughed out of the park. If you ask me this has probably only happened a handful of times and was probably the idea of a 15 year old without a wife, kids and a house. That or a 30 year old with the same statistics.

If I remember correctly the ToS were changed relatively recently and in particular it became more draconian regarding external tools, and autoclicker and other macro tools fall into the category of things that are not allowed to run while playing the game.

      PS: windows has a native feature called "ClickLock" in the mouse settings which allows you to make it so that a click is held if you press it for more than a set amount of seconds, which can alleviate some of the UX issues of foxhole, and technically is not against ToS... no autoclick feature though

    DO NOT LEAVE TRUCKS AT THE FRONTLINE! BRING THEM BACK TO THE DEPOT YOU LOGI'D FROM. TIP 52 IS VERY BAD ADVICE. IF WE FIND YOUR ABANDONED TRUCK AT THE FRONTLINE WE WILL PRESS GANG YOU INTO SCROOP MINE SERVICE!!!!!

      No. It's 100bmats and sometimes I don't have 10-15 minutes to drive it back. Sometimes I will store it in midline storage depot or seaport. But I am not taking it back to the backline.
      Devs need way to recycle it for materials or way to crate them back up with 3 other trucks again.
      100bmats is not worth my time.

    • @otischamp
      @otischamp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not a matter of production cost it's a matter of availability. Most frontlines don't have a garage so if everyone leaves their trucks at the front and no one brings them back you end up with depots full of supplies and no logi trucks to deliver them. @@RobertLovesGames

      @@RobertLovesGames You say that until there's a parking lot of (squad) locked trucks at the front, no wrenches, empty MPF, no other trucks or wrenches within two hexes at worst, wasting time trying to get or make either one, leading to a stalled push because supplies were running low due to most of logi for that push abandoning their trucks at the front to fight on the front. Yeah, those 100 bmats aren't worth the inconvenience until they are.

    • @RobertLovesGames
      @RobertLovesGames  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johndane9754 Except in my situation I'm talking about ditching the logi truck to spawn in the back to get another run for supplies. An example of when I don't ditch my logi truck is like this war I have been going from Sableport to Westgate to drop off supplies. Those hexes are so close I never leave my logi truck. But when I do ashtown to westgate I do leave my logi truck and head back to Ashtown through home region because driving back is not worth my time. Also I never leave a logi truck locked on the front and park it somewhere safe and not in front of AI.
      Appreciate your thoughts on this!
