Not sure if its the same engine. Gm sold this engine to a few other manufacturers but dont know if isuzu was one of them.

Not an interference engine. Just check to see how much if any damage the chain did to the gears , tensioner and casing.

My timing cover has the set pins, i see your block has them? Was they made different?
Mine is from a 1988 fiero. They did make some changes in the engine. Not sure about the earlier cars
