Actually insane how good the DS version looks in terms of how it's a DS game. It looks so smooth and runs quite well compared to many DS games I've seen or played.

The PSP version is better graphically, but I think the DS version is better in general, the use of the touch-screen in the puzzles is very interesting and the cutscenes used both screens at the same time, the online mode was really cool and when you were signed up for the social club you received missions on the DS version.
I like the details and the shading of the characters on the DS version. Characters kinda look a bit too lightly shaded on the PSP. more detail on the DS buildings too seem to have more texture and detail PSP looks sharper and I like the light effects on the cars at night on the PSP version. Liberty city stories is the one to get on PSP shame wasn’t a grand theft auto game dedicated to the vita. Man that hand held had so much potential such a shame.
DS version looks more consistent. It has a consistent art style and atmosphere. PSP is all over the place, trying to mix in realistic lighting to a game that was meant to be cell shaded, giving it a confused look. The game was built for the DS in mind, so over all, controls and art direction is more appealing even with in the limits of the DS hardware.
Its still crazy to me how much detail and unique mechanics were put into chinatown wars even the story was something fresh and immersive with it's whole buildup I loved playing this game and the soundtrack was great I wish rockstar would remake it again for the switch or even make a sequal the main character was genuinely unique and had a personality that was like a mix of nico and Michael but with asian descent
DS Version to me looks more detailed with the cutscene backgrounds, better way to use the throwables, but PSP at least gave you more radio stations and actually allowed you to play more missions.

I personally like the cell shaded look of the DS version NPCs a lot more than the weird swollen 3D models of the PSP version. Same thing for the cars, I feel like you can see the details of the cars more clearly on the DS version
Simple: NDS version: Amazing Graphics for the console. Really good Gameplay and very smooth. PSP: Better Graphics, worst Gameplay but more missions. I preffer NDS version, the resolution can be shit on the cutscenes. But the colours of the Gameplay are much more beautiful than the PSP version. But it's a really good game on both consoles :)
the reason DS doesn't have lyrics is because it mainly uses sequenced music and not prerecorded music due to the way it's sound chip works. The PSP has a much more advanced audio engine that can do all sorts of shit but the DS can't.
I remember when the PSP version was released how angry I was because I thought it was going to be a full 3D world remake like the Stories games. I played it once and it really was a great game. An underrated GTA game.

The only real critique I'd have between the two versions is that Huang in the DS only wears a t-shirt and his jacket while in the PSP, he has his red shirt along with it.
Fun fact: The PSP version has a lot of unused content from the DS version. Theres a couple textures that shows a Nintendo DS icon, being the first time a Nintendo Console is inside a Sony game.
I've played and enjoy both versions. They are very well done. I would ultimately play the PSP more because it has a significant amount of extra content and music.

Playing this on a 3ds with widescreen cheat is amazing!!! I prefer the look of the cutscene pictures in ds, the psp ones look too sharp yet under detailed, good comparison is the sword cutscene you can see a lot more detail indicating it’s history on the DS.

Yeah, I got ppsspp on my phone to revisit the game a week ago and emulators just don't have good controls compared to the actual intended placements of the physical buttons designed for the game. It's even more frustrating on other games as well

@Иван Новинкин It's a hybrid of both versions, as you have the visual reworks from the PSP port and touch screen mechanics from the DS port, besides the multiplayer modes being omitted, no PSP-exclusive missions and no shadows for performance reasons. It also has some physical controller support (at least for Android) but some interactions still require the usage of the touch screen (like hijacking parked vehicles, for example).
The PSP have the "minigames" too, just with the joystick, better graphics and the joystick make it more comfortable to play, i think the PSP version is a lot better.
The PSP version looks pretty and detailed but the gameplay of the Nintendo DS version is unique and comfortable

Used to play this game as a kid, had good memories of this game.
Lighting and shadows looks way more realistic on PSP. Also the hand drawn cutscenes have a higher quality as well.
