Maybe with a few years of prep time and a complete understanding of the flood, we'd have a slim chance. I think the main reason all those factions failed is because they were caught off guard and had no defense against them already prepared.

Dragons breath rounds are a low pressure round which doesn't have the force to cycle an automatic weapon, you would have to use a manually cycled weapon like a pump action or lever action. Sorry mate, I was disappointed when I learned this too. If you ask me the best weapon to use against the Flood it White phosphorus.
I think that the biggest deciding factor would be how quickly nations would comprehend the severity of the outbreak, and react quickly, as opposed to slowly sending more robust military hardware and allowing for the outbreak to spread more and more.
@@bofasofa9399 Technically you could? Filters exist. And I’m sure nova bombing (big nuke) would vaporize the spores easily, but would probably be a drastic “scorched earth” move
I just like to imagine those few people who work for the governments that are really big Halo fans realizing just how screwed we are if an outbreak happened because I don't think most governments would take it as seriously as they should at first
I'm hoping that in one of those 50,000 scenarios of shit hitting the fan that they wargamed; that something akin to the flood was in that contingency hypothetical planning . . .
I remember at halo outpost discovery they showed us a full scale flood infection form (very big in person btw) and the AI thing they had talk about it said if it got loose the continent would fall within a week and the whole planet not much longer than that. So if a flood outbreak happens irl I'm just ending it all asap.
A lot of people overlook the fact that a combat form would most likely tip all their ammunition with flood supercells so it would infect everyone they shoot at larger ranges.
is that something they've done in lore? makes things kinda interesting but overall doesn't change a lot, infected military personnel become a bit more of a threat but they'd most likely encounter other military personnel which already have armor to counter the weapons flood combat forms would be using.
Honestly I think you should do more what if scenarios in halo. For example, could lord hood in halo 3 actually survive a flood infected high charity coming to earth alongside whats remains of the unsc at that time.
Well by the time of the Battle of Installation 00, the UNSC was on its last legs so there's no chance they could contain it outside of WMD's. Now they could entirely stop even high charity infesting Earth by NOVA bombing it. Butttt...... they would entirety destroy Humanities homeworld so it would be a cataclysmic sacrifice

I think something overlooked is how the outbreak will effect nature, plant life, certain insects, aquatic creatures, Even ones that dig underground. That would be utterly terrifying what they could infect and new Forms that would be created. Not mention their ability to make use of the hosts memories
@whensomethingcriesagain nope it can convert an entire plants ecosystem, it will still try to go for sentient life as a priority but it call still munch on anything around its environments to gather resources and energy. after all any other animals and plants are just biomass that can be collected to make more flood.
i think one major fact should be noted, the OCEAN. if there is any flood that gets in there, it would probably be able to be unnoticed especially in the deep sea long enough where all shores are a front. also flood squids, which sound cool as a flood monster
Great intro. The only constructive criticism: 1: The 556 has some significant concussion, therefore it would deal dissent damage to the flud. I would estimate 5 rounds of 556 to 1 12 gage buckshot shell. 2: IRL, a 50 caliber rifle would transform a human sized combat form into 4 limbs and abstract art. The concoction is immense. 3: shotgun slugs also have a large amount of destruction do to their geometry. They behave like hollow point bullets, but with 15 times the energy. In general, he assumed that bluets travel linearly and only deal damage by cutting through or that the hole made in the ballistic gell indicated the damage. It is much more destructive than what you see. Otherwise, this was grate.
While talking about vehicles, you forgot to mention APCs and, more importantly, infantry fighting vehicles. IFVs are typically armed with autocannons ranging from 20mm to 40mm in caliber and often firing high-explosive rounds at a decent rate, along with having guided anti-tank missiles too. Dragon's breath rounds for shotguns would not be effective. They are too weak and are mainly for show. Flamethrowers would be more effective and have a decent range (you could burn a Flood tank form from 20 meters away with an M2 flamethrower), but the fuel ruins out really fast. Although, let's be honest, you would want to go straight for small tactical nukes IMMEDIATELY regardless of the Flood outbreak stage. Containing a Flood outbreak would be VERY difficult without nuclear weapons due to the amount of wildlife that would come into contact with the Flood. An outbreak would require you to kill any animal of any size that has come into contact with Flood biomass due to the simple fact that any sentient animal with a decent enough brain is going to be infected.
Furthermore, IFVs and tanks can also be equipped with canister shells designed specifically against infantry by functioning similar to a shotgun buckshot, while at the same time being non-penetrating against armor to avoid friendly fire.
Why is this even a thing? The answer is quite simple: We’re believably fucked beyond all comprehension unless the meteor/pod containing the flood spore that would start it all lands in a volcano, or if we are informed beforehand about the meteor/pod containing the spore and take immediate steps to annihilate it in its entirety even if it means scorch earthing the area. End of story. What I would like to see is a “The Flood invades your favorite universes/games/fictional stories. How well do they fair?” type of videos.
Not so fast mate, modern militaries could literally just saturate the infected area with artillery and missiles, preferably with white phosphorus warheads, assuming the infected area hasn't gotten too big then we could probably wipe out the outbreak within a week. Of course we would have to act fast to prevent it from getting too big but we would definitely have a fighting chance.
@@j-wolf7209 That depends, if there’s spores in the air it’s over. If it’s like 30 infected forms or even 40, then yes we MIGHT have a chance. But anything beyond that is unstoppable. If the forerunners couldn’t do it, we sure as shit don’t stand a chance in hell. Let’s say we do successfully destroy all the forms. If a single spore the size of a microbe survives and is breathed in be wildlife or god forbid any human, there is no prepping or weapons (aside from halos, or blowing up the planet) that would be capable of stopping the flood.
@@reclaimeddead I disagree, I believe flood spores only start spawning at a certain point in like a heavily infected area, could be wrong tho. However, white phosphorus would most likely destroy any flood spores in the air, it is a chemical incendiary gas after all. Modern military's could probably take out a few tens of thousands (of infected forms) with little issue using this method. possibly much more depending on how concentrated they are.
@@j-wolf7209 Isn’t that the scenario we’re discussing? A heavily infected area? If that’s the case then there is no chance in stopping the flood whatsoever. By that time the flood would be far more intelligent than in the early stage where it is POSSIBLE, and this is if we are given prep time. If not, your scenario would fail miserably. The flood really aren’t all that weak to gasses, but they are weak to fire and extreme cold. So, if it’s in the early stages, we might and that’s a huge ‘MIGHT’ be able to fend it off in time.
@@j-wolf7209 We wouldn't. The Flood spread far too fast for that kind of saturation bombardment to be arranged. By the time they are ready to shell one infected area the Flood will have already spread to 4 other places.
13:36 a couple days agoI was actually just talking to my brother about how the UNSC does decontamination with the flood containment teams and we just came with the conclusion that they just straight up burn the armour that the flood containment team was using because why take the risk especially with something like the flood
I mean if it's MJOLNIR, they can straight up chemical burn and fire burn it off since the armor can withstand insane heat thanks to it being designed to take plasma hits, the marines though, that's a little trickier, the spores can't get anywhere near the skin or the marine is compromised, you can't use the traditional decon rinse since you'd just have a pool of biomass infested water and any chemicals strong enough to kill the flood would likely eat the protective gear and risk hurting the soldier underneath,
@@swimmerofage2148 or maybe they freeze the armour like the Spartan goes into a cryo chamber and they freeze the foood spores off assuming flood spores can’t go into freezing temperatures
I think it matters where the outbreak begins. If it was in the center of Tokyo, where there's thousands of people per mile, it would be horrible. If it landed up north somewhere in the Canadian wilderness like Nunavut or in Siberia, it would be much easier to deal with.
Would it though? There is lots of wildlife there to infect and because of the low population density it could spread undetected for at least a few days
if it landed in any farmland it'd be GG, the biomass would be dormant on the food and go global especially if it land in rice or wheat crops, once people get infected and turn it's too late, sort of like the cordyceps in the last of us
@@herpesisnice1443 Right there are next to No actual way we would survive. Unless By some complete miracle it lands somewhere with No Biomatter, and then died on its own. If it gets out and they are not there to contain it before it grows to big, the Galaxy is fucked.
No it doesn't. It would sweep over the planet in at most a few days. How do we deal with the flood? You have to shoot it with fire, or high explosives, or projectile weapons. How do you do that, well, you gotta get people at some level pointing a gun of some kind at it. That means get a lot of people close to the place. With vehicles to get there. Meanwhile, as you're trying to kill these forms with weapons, you have no clue that a dozen of the townspeople trudged through the snow and ice to get to Juneau, Yellowknife, Fort Mac, and are getting on cargo vehicles and stowing away on planes. Then its everywhere in a few hours once it gets to a single major city with an airport.

Our weapons might be somewhat effective but i think we are grasping at a dream if we think the world will instantly work together would be surprised that the superpowers would wait to help until one of them is taken out but at that point its way to late
From my time in the Army I can say that most armored vehicles from Strykers to MRAPs come NBC equipped to operate in those environments. However, they always had leaks lol
You have to remember Halo takes place 500 years in the future, the bullets (the metal bits fired from the cartridge) are likely heavier than their modern day counterparts leading to higher stopping power. As well being fired at higher velocities due to potential advancements in powders and gas.
@@jaredgaines4279i dont think you understand the concept of how long 500 years is, cause in this amount of time, around 500 years ago we had crappy gunpower that was wasy less effective and efficient compared to todays, the rounds fired were slow, and guns were beginning stages. Now look at today where our quality if materials and such have stopping power and piercing hundreds of times more efficient and effective
Really depends: Upon seeing the infection do we identify it as "Flood from Halo". If so, we have tons of information available, we know how severe it is and know its strengths and weaknesses.
We wouldn’t even have a slight chance to survive. The answer is simple. Look at the Forerunners and what they chose at the end to do. This is with their technology and all of the information they amassed on the flood.
@AptMantis2278 Counterpoint, If someone starts taking actions and they work, then the higher ups will listen to em when they say how fucked we are. At least in some militaries, independent action is encouraged.
Depends if this is a world where the Flood exists and the Halo Franchise exists simultaneously - and not 'Our Earth but Halo doesnt exist as a fictional franchise, because its non-fiction.'
The Forerunners had weapons like lasers, plasma and other advanced weaponry/technology and couldn't stop them. We have no chance. To add to why we would lose is because the Forerunners blew up planets, suns, and entire solar system ls to stop them but still failed. Finally, the Forerunners then made 7 Halos designed to kill all life in the galaxy, and even when fired the Flood came back. Soooooooo yeahhh😅
yes, but they also had genetically engineered soldiers that would put spartans to shame as their standard troop, everything would be scaled way up to borderline 40k levels of power in that war, for context MJOLNIR is level 3 by forerunner standards, the highest level of armor is 20
Mk 211 Raufoss would most likely be the best HMG round for combating the flood. It has a small HE filler. Also, modern AFVs and aircraft are fully sealed against CBRNE threats.
@@matmart33they use múltiple types of vehicles and Weapons, the games simplify that, AA Missiles, Artillery, they have drone Aircraft, preety much everything we have and more. And we play as a Uber Spec Ops Soldier that generally goes behind enemy likes and does infiltration.
Certainly it it a lot more prevalent than sealed vehicles in halo. The scorpion and wraith are two of the only vehicles that are sealed up properly, but their hatches are not particularly well sealed compared to the more comprehensive locks on modern tank hatches. Air vehicles are a little better in this respect, pelicans are a good comparison to the osprey and chinook.

Said this before in another video. One of the things I love about Halo is almost all of the in-game weapons, fire real calibers, or something close it. AR? 7.62x51/.308. Battle Rifle? 375 Socom. Commando? 6.5. DMR?308, Magnum? 50 AE, Shotgun? 8 gauge magnum... which does exist! It's awesome. All of the other weapons are roughly the same way, with the exception being the SMG. It's similar to the HK G11 4.73x33 but not quite. That being said, we would be overrun quite quickly. We couldnt contain it fast enough.
Hey Luc! I don't normally comment on your videos but I love em all the same! I just wanted to make some corrections and additions to this. First off 5.56, it depends on the 5.56 round quite honestly. Not all 5.56 rounds are meant to penatrate body armor and there a lot of variants out there. The current standard issue variant of 5.56 over here in the the states is the M855A1 Enhanced Performance Round, a 62 Grain Bullet which uses a steel penatrator and can operate at higher chamber pressures from carbines and short barreled rifles like the M4A1. However, more common variants like the standard issue M855/SS109 version (known as Green Tip), also a 62-grain bullet used everywhere else in the world is not as effective and has been tested to not perform as well as the M855A1 due to M855/SS109 being yaw dependent for maximum effect (this means the bullets has to spin in the air a certain way for it to be fully effective). The A1 has less copper and lead in the bullet, meaning the length of the actual bullet inside the brass casing is longer giving a more consistent performance against soft targets and not having this issue. The last most common variant would be the US M193 round, a 55-grain bullet that was the first iteration that's a common civilian round here in the states. These bullets were known to leave nasty wounds in Vietnam because they were going so fast and being so accurate due to their lighter weight, meaning they would spin much easier (granted this would be dependant on the rifle's twist rate, meaning the how fast the rifleing inside the barrel would spin the bullet), but because of the lighter weight they wouldn't pack as much of a punch. Now 5.56 isn't meant to necessarily penatrate body armor perse (unless you used Black Tip Rounds which have a Tungsten Core bullet) but rather enter a target tumble within the targets body and do as much internal damage as possible. Would this be effective on the Flood? Kinda hard to say really, but I'll let you or any others in the comments be the judge of that. I'd like to point out that 5.45x39mm, the Russian version of the 5.56 acts in a very similar way, but with the actual bullet tip being quite a bit larger than 5.56. However generally speaking 5.56 is known to outperform 5.45 in most aspects. A bit of a correction, 7.62x39mm is NOT considered a Battle Rifle cartridge by any means, and is considered an intermediate cartridge much like 5.56 and 5.45. Now on to how this bullet works. The normal M43 variant of the bullet which is the most common variant is made to basically dump all of its energy on a target. While it does spin, unlike 5.56 and 5.45, it's less of a concern. This bullet is made to hit you and hit you hard while making sure you don't get up. However the downside of this bullet is that this bullet is solid, even while traveling through a human body mean there is less internal wounding. Would this be as affect against the Flood, I personally don't think so but that's up to you to decide. Yugoslavia made their own variant of the 7.62x39mm called the M67 which removes the mild steel insert the regular M43 variant has to make the bullet do more internal damage by shifting its center of gravity. However this has had limited effectiveness. Both 7.62x51mm NATO and 7.62x54mmR (the R standing from Rimmed) ARE Battle Rifle rounds. However in most scenarios 7.62 NATO has been shown to outperform 7.62x54mmR. However much like 5.56, 7.62 NATO has it's own number of variants, including hollow points, most of which kind of depend on the country your in with the standard being M80 Ball (at least thats what its called here in the states). An addition here, Russia has its own crazy shotgun that might be even more powerful than the Halo Shotgun called the KS-23. It was developed in the 70s and uses 4 GAUGE SHOTGUN SHELLS (I highly recommend watching Garand Thumb's video on it). However even within Russia it is quite rare to see. Now as you said in the video the best types of ammo would 12 Gauge, RIP Rounds (which can probably be easily loaded into most SMGs), big boi rounds like 7.62 NATO, and hollow points, while bullets meant to penatrate barriers like body armor would be a no go. Well there is one more variant of 5.56 I forget to mention. Mk262, a 77-Grain match grade open tipped hollow point projectile. While these were made specifically for long range shooting out of the Mk. 12 SPR, work perfectly fine in rifles as well that take 5.56 (like the M4A1) and are far superior to the standard M855/SS109 the world currently uses, probably almost on par with M855A1, and also are available on the civilian market (at least here in the US). It's not a be all end all round, but considering that most of the world is running some kind of 5.56 rifle as their standard issue rifle, I would think this round would make logical sense. So what do you think? And ppl in the comments are free to roast me if ya'll want. But Luc I wish ya the best, and stay iconic broham.

Considering how quickly the flood spread in halo 3 and assuming that the infection's growth is linear and not exponential and that the average play time for the first flood level is about an hour. I managed to roughly calculate how long it would take to wipe out all life on the planet... 32 hours. We are not doing well against them.
Considering how in Halo 3, they have advanced Sci Fi armor and weaponry, and even “Alien Support” but still lost to the Flood. Pretty sure we ain’t surviving.
One thing you forgot. Missiles and guns in naval assets like a destroyer submarine or battleship specifically and Iowa class battleship could strike a grave mind in its "home" quite easily. Great video btw
I honestly doubt that given that a grave mind can and prolly will protect itself with a shit ton of combat forms and it can make a bunch of tentacles to smack whatever missile comes in its direction
I think the modern jacketed round against rotting flesh could be handy and effective. If there was a flood of flood coming your way. The round would over penetrate and hit the next floodform behind it and so on till the round has to little energy. By that time the round will be deformed and do more flesh damage. If that is done with machineguns, that will be devastating for the flood.
A day. At most, three. If it starts in a major city, it will be worldwide that day. If it starts in a secluded area with no people, it'll infect an animal, then go to a city and infect people. If there's no animals and no humans, it'll stay put until it gets what it needs, anything that's alive that can move.
The superbowl intro gave me big time nostalgia since the team I support was there for the AFC. Cincinnati. Besides that Flood arriving NOW would be our end.
What about the Flood in the oceans or any body of water where an initial crash most likely would happen or the infection spreads to? We only see the Flood on land as far as I know so I wonder about aquatic versions, like Flood sharks, squid or any fish.
There's ships that go overseas that they can board/hijack, or hop on cargo or passenger plane, and oh look, a load of fresh combat forms to start fighting with the instant they land the plane.
Oh my God Luc, that intro was the best intro you or any other Halo TH-camr has ever made with the way it ended. That was the best intro I've seen in years on all of TH-cam.😂
The flood would have consumed all of earth within in few days the caliber rounds are the least of there worry’s as the flood form can adapt pretty quickly and spread flood spores it’s basically a rap right then in there
If you ask me, No. Even if the outbreak was contained to a small region and then have a thermonuclear bomb wiping the area out like the Epsilon Protocol, good luck surviving the nuclear fallout that would block the Sun and cause a Nuclear Winter (10 Modern Nuclear Bombs today to is all it would take to kill Humanity). Plus you have to remember, this is The Flood. The flood infection can spread via airborne methods. Then you also have the issue of the combat forms themselves, even just one bite or even get scratched by the flood, you can get infected even then. And once you keep adding more biomass to the flood, that is how they eventually create a Gravemind and it just keeps getting worse the longer it is not contained. Remember as our friend Ratas Vadum said it best “One Single Flood Spore Can Destroy A Species.”

This kind of video which goes into the nerdy stuff like weapons and vehicles is amazing… if done right, which you my sir have pulled this off in a fashion that I would say you have done perfectly. From the little things like caliber to the specific guns to the larger things like tactics that we should use, this is perfect. I’m a big gun nerd and it really makes me feel amazing when TH-camrs that are not guntubers go into specifics. I remember when you uploaded 2 videos that went over weapons during halo CE and those were astounding to me how the UNSC sniper rifle fires a round that is used in stuff like the PTRD and the PTRS. Both of those weapons are designed to be anti tank weapons, the crazy part about it though is that those rounds are bigger and penetrate armor better than something like 20mm, and yes the ptrs fires 5, 14.5 rounds but the halos sniper is so much better and it shocks me that the UNSC uses a caliber that old. Thank you so much and I would love to see stuff like halo 2 UNSC and covenant weapons in the same style as the halo CE series!
Modern militarys dont really use shotguns. I think they used to use them for breaching but abandoned it in favor of breaching charges for the safety of the troops using it.
To be fair the US military swapped out the 5.56 cartridge for the new 6.8x51mm (.277 fury) as it's new combat rifle about a year ago. I think they still have some of the 5.56 rifles in circulation though Edit: I think they said the reason for the swap was because they wanted better body armor penetration due to the rise in body armor within military's around the world.
Untrue. Most the US Army's 5.56 weapons are still in circulation. The .277 FURY round is also now in field testing as the Army is unsure if the new XM8 will even be worth swapping to. Most people are predicting that it will replace 7.62 NATO as it has certain advantages over it like not being dependent on barrel length for maximum effectiveness.
@@ColinAYB Ehhh yes and no. 6.8 isn't picky when it comes to barrel length unlike 7.62 where you lose performance as the barrel gets shorter. It also doesn't drop nearly as hard when it reaches a certain range unlike 7.62 NATO. So there are advantages that come with it. Is it worth the increased recoil due to higher pressure (normal is 40,000 50,000 PSI, with the new round its 80,000 PSI) we'll see about that. It's very much up in the air currently.
@chaoschaoforever Oh it definitely has advantages, it's just a matter of whether the military thinks it has enough advantages to adopt en masse. I'm sure they keep some sort of statistics on engagement distance and armor penetration they're basing the decision on, we'll just have to see if they think the longer range engagements happen frequently enough to justify buying more than a few thousand.
I saw this video in my recommended a few days ago (never watched it) and It gave me a nightmare where I got to experience the existential terror of the flood slowly taking over and the utter hopelessness of watching soldiers who were trying to fight it become part of the enemy in seconds. I really didn't appreciate how terrifying it is because it's not real, but having a dream where it was real definitely made me realize how terrifying it is

@@bofasofa9399 I’m just saying 6’2 isn’t that tall, the flood will utilise a taller frame better, you’re more likely to kill a human infection form than a Sangheli one. Sounds like ur a short dude who is insecure.
A Flood outbreak would also be a good time to bust out any reserves of chemical weapons that might be lying around. Can you imagine Flood forms, unknowingly wandering from one fog to another, shriveling and dying en masse from chlorine/Sarin/Nova 6? If the Flood is built around nervous systems and mostly rotten flesh, then surely NERVE gas and corrosive gas would do something? Also we have 1 more (perhaps meta) advantage: We are talking about fighting a video game enemy, already known to millions of Halo players throughout the world. Chances are a good number of soldiers and civilians (especially American ones) will recognize what they're fighting. Maybe this video will save billions.
I'm more convinced that we are screwed simply because we aren't really some unified group as humans. And the Flood aren't gonna start making their own pure forms until they've amassed enough biomass and at that point they'd have at least made a Proto-Gravemind. So all we'd be doing is culling our own. Supplies in general need people to make them. We need to mind people's brains and emotions at this point as well.
I double chemical weapons are going to be usefull, Combat forms don't feel any pain and they are really resilient, they can Even survived the Vacum of Space
OH MY GOSH!! 5 whole centuries until the Flood arrive!? We're so screwed!! Idea: What would happen if an outbreak a quarter the size of the one in Halo 3 landed in the same location, but during World War 2? How screwed are we still, because we'd have more access to flamethrowers, emphasis on tanks and HE and WP rounds, but also in the middle of the last largest conflict in the world.
if a flood outbreak was to happen the biggest test would be where it first lands, depending on which country is first hit we could be overwhelmed in days, the other issue is civilians no matter how well armed do not make good combat units, people panic, get emotional, do not follow logic or sense and despite how many fantasies people have of being effective in a zombie outbreak, most would be overwhlemed quickly and with the flood, any biomass left can be sued in some way so we would see rapid expansion regardless of how fast we act, the odds would not be in our favour and our best defence would basically be hitting hard and fast in infected areas from above whilst forming border points with incendiary and impact weapons to prevent further sppread, although another issue we have then is the number of cave and tunnel systems that exist below ground in most countries where they could harbour in wait. I persoonally dont favour our chances mainly due to human nature, but I also wouldn't say our chance is zero, we would just need some good old MC luck on our side.
No, they’re easy to take out in a video game where you play as a 7ft tall augmented super soldier. If the flood progresses past the feral stage there’s not a chance
Stop making excuses. The flood is flesh and blood, it's not made of metal armour. Doesn't matter if it's the games, the flood combat forms, most forms are easy to take out.
I think there’s two scenarios for a Flood outbreak. Either humanity steps in early and snuffs it out before it ever becomes that big of an issue, or it experiences exponential growth and quickly takes over the planet while eliminating all the opposition
I think it all depends on where the flood lands at and how they land. If a meteor hits the earth with flood on it, not only would the meteor size and impact be a big factor because of how much initial damage it would cause, but then you'd have to worry about the flood as well. Now one thing that I think is highly underestimated is the fact that we have people like you and some others that are extremely well informed with the flood, so if the military can get people who are well informed about the flood in to explain how they work in a fast enough fashion, then we might be able to quell it. As for me surviving it, that all depends on whether they land in my city or if they land across the planet lol

If the flood occured somewhere in the desert like the great Sahara or similar areas it might be stopped a lot more easily due to the lack of population in those regions
That be super hard to deploy lmgs given standard platoons have only 2-3. You also move much slower given how heavy they are. They would definitely have to set up defensive perimeters rather than assault the flood. You just can’t move as fast.
Depends on the force and type of infantry. US Marines don't really like lmgs and don't have a lot, while an Army bradley platoon has 8 lmgs, 4 25mm cannons, and the co-ax m240s. But yes, set a defensive with really long site lines and pound the infestation with air and artillery.
Remember on Game of Thrones when Robert Baratheon asks "what is the greater number, 5 or 1?" And Cersei guesses 1, and Robert then holds up 5 fingers and then closes it into a fist saying 1, "one army, one purpose." That is the Flood, completely unified into one goal and willing to do anything to achieve it. Even if we were more unified than we've ever been we still wouldn't be able to stop the Flood
Yo Luc! If you haven't already, ya might consider trying out the Gravemind mods for L4D2. There's a ton of great work done by the mod authors and it was pretty cool to give a Flood Outbreak vibe to an already awesome game.
I paused at the 0:47 mark when I write the following. So accurate while being disturbing. I live in Texas and I guarantee at least 5% of the 25+million population (or 1.25M) or doing as instructed. That is soo many people if you think about it. Hopefully you have a private jet so you can fly over here to one of your devoted fans surely. Resuming video now lol..
I reckon modern militaries could destroy a flood outbreak. If the location outbreak is found then the entire area can be saturated with artillery and curse missiles from aircraft (which would be hundreds of miles away, so no chance of them being shot done. No strafe runs!) All these could be equipped with white phosphorus war heads, which would be very effective against the flood.
14:00 One thing to mention about real gas masks, they aren't designed to last forever. Their filters must be changed out every 4 hours (For seriously heavy containments) or what's outside will begin to leak in. If humanity has lost its ability to replenish this resource, then we're doomed by this point.
Since flood arent human we can safely not use the Geneva conventions rules and simply use alot of highly effective methods such as White Phosphorus, Napalm and High Explosive weapons such as 40mm grenade launchers. And it wouldnt suprise me if given this situation most countries would not work together they would stick to their own and try to protect their citizens leading to some locations like Africa, the middle east, potentially Australia and most certainly China being lost
My ex had way too much biomass from eating 3 buckets of chicken for dinner every day. We need a full metal jacket with ties in the back to keep her from eating so much. LOL
For all those wondering, you can get your very own "Flame projection device" for around $600. Perfectly legal in most states in the U.S and can be shipped right to your door! Never you mind those Geneva suggestions! Congress never agreed to them!
Assuming it's still in the feral stage, do to how high these aircraft can fly, I think B1B-Lancer and B2-Spirit bombers would devastate the flood. Keep in mind, a few B2's could nearly flatten a town if they're fully equiped with mainly bombs meant for hitting the surface and not like bunker busters.
Oh, great, so how do we get the USAF to agree to do this, without them knowing dick about the situation? What if the flood invasion started in another country, that'd create a more immediate problem and we'd let the flood surge in the time it took to get agreement to drop bombs. Also, B1's haven't flown for 40 years.
Frag rounds would be a great ammo type as well, us Americans love to experiment with our ammo and some crazy bastard found a way to make a bullet explode on impact.
Alot of people fail to realize is that the forerunners failed at stopping the flood becuase by the time they even knew about the outbreak entire planets had already been consumed by the flood, they caught the outbreak at the worst possible time by then it was far to late
"On a scale of one to gravemind, how screwed are we in this scenario?" I'm already getting my gun and putting my happy ass in a shelter so I can off myself knowing the Flood won't be able to resurrect me. So uh... yeah, That's an 11.
I also want to say that some countries keep White Phosphorus rounds and are very much willing to use them. As a former South Korea Artillery man, we have 155mm WP (White Phosphorus) shells ready to be used at any given time, we just haven't quite used them yet. Given the substance of what WP is... I don't think I need to elaborate how effective it would be against organic matter. If you need an example, go look at Spec Ops: The Line.
You're right about flame throwers not being standard issue weapons. That's because they're not really weapons in the US. They're considered brush clearing tools that any civilian can purchase in most states
CLEARLY, he doesn't know how high jet aircraft can go. I'd like to see floods anti-air do anything to an A-10 Warthog flying at 40,000 feet in the air while launching missiles or a b-52 stratofortress leveling the region from even higher up.

A fully automatic AA12 with Dragons Breath shells

A lot of people overlook the fact that a combat form would most likely tip all their ammunition with flood supercells so it would infect everyone they shoot at larger ranges.
is that something they've done in lore? makes things kinda interesting but overall doesn't change a lot, infected military personnel become a bit more of a threat but they'd most likely encounter other military personnel which already have armor to counter the weapons flood combat forms would be using.

Great intro.
The only constructive criticism:
1: The 556 has some significant concussion, therefore it would deal dissent damage to the flud.
Ahhh yes, the Coughing baby (Modern day Humanity) vs The Heat death of the Universe (The Flood)

I'm pretty sure with Spartans wearing MJOLNIR they just fucking hose them with fire
@@johngellare3507 yea lol they would survive that
I mean if it's MJOLNIR, they can straight up chemical burn and fire burn it off since the armor can withstand insane heat thanks to it being designed to take plasma hits, the marines though, that's a little trickier, the spores can't get anywhere near the skin or the marine is compromised, you can't use the traditional decon rinse since you'd just have a pool of biomass infested water and any chemicals strong enough to kill the flood would likely eat the protective gear and risk hurting the soldier underneath,
Sure, but at what point do we start burning more often than we can produce, deliver, and distribute?

@herpesisnice1443 the thing with the flood is, the creature it's infecting have to have some self awareness to them.

Mk 211 Raufoss would most likely be the best HMG round for combating the flood. It has a small HE filler. Also, modern AFVs and aircraft are fully sealed against CBRNE threats.

Thank you for that comment. I enjoyed reading it.

I was thinking hollow points the moment you mentioned that penetration wouldn’t be too effective.
When it comes to stuff like this the question isn’t “will we survive?” The question is “how much time do we have left?”
Imagine that one Junji Ito manga but with the Flood instead of whatever funky thing Japan was experimenting on
There's ships that go overseas that they can board/hijack, or hop on cargo or passenger plane, and oh look, a load of fresh combat forms to start fighting with the instant they land the plane.
GarandThumb needs to do a survival series on how to survive a flood outbreak.
That's a Collab I'd love to see
7:49 "The 12-gauge shotgun would most likely be the most effective round against the flood" *Chuckles in KS-23*
(for those who dont know, the Halo shotgun is 8-gauge, the KS-23 is *SIX FUCKING GAUGE*
Gotta love this man's passion for Halo and especially the Flood.
Its a good day when this man drops a flood vid😤
Modern militarys dont really use shotguns. I think they used to use them for breaching but abandoned it in favor of breaching charges for the safety of the troops using it.
Here is the states one guy can have 20 shotguns..

To be fair the US military swapped out the 5.56 cartridge for the new 6.8x51mm (.277 fury) as it's new combat rifle about a year ago. I think they still have some of the 5.56 rifles in circulation though
Edit: I think they said the reason for the swap was because they wanted better body armor penetration due to the rise in body armor within military's around the world.
90 percent of the military still use 5.56. It's different for each branch and it's different between the mos of each branch.
Those have been mostly relegated to designated DMR roles, and tbh it doesn't do a lot that .308/7.62x51 doesn't already.

"The short answer is No".
-watches the breakdown because I love your energy and all of your videos-
A Flood outbreak would also be a good time to bust out any reserves of chemical weapons that might be lying around.
Due to the nature of the Flood's spread, I believe Nuclear weapons may be the only option
*NO!*
if a flood outbreak was to happen the biggest test would be where it first lands, depending on which country is first hit we could be overwhelmed in days, the other issue is civilians no matter how well armed do not make good combat units, people panic, get emotional, do not follow logic or sense and despite how many fantasies people have of being effective in a zombie outbreak, most would be overwhlemed quickly and with the flood, any biomass left can be sued in some way so we would see rapid expansion regardless of how fast we act, the odds would not be in our favour and our best defence would basically be hitting hard and fast in infected areas from above whilst forming border points with incendiary and impact weapons to prevent further sppread, although another issue we have then is the number of cave and tunnel systems that exist below ground in most countries where they could harbour in wait.
I persoonally dont favour our chances mainly due to human nature, but I also wouldn't say our chance is zero, we would just need some good old MC luck on our side.
Flood combat forms are easy to take down. You destroy the infector pod, which is usually head height. They go down easy taking them out.
Given how we barely even handled the pandemic, you'd think there would be people willingly throwing themselves at the Flood to get purposely infected.
Both the 556 and 545 will "tumble" after penetrating and often do a lot of damage internally. It's rare to be a clean through and through
Doesn’t change shit when it comes to fighting the Flood
My exact thoughts, 556 and 545 would still be somewhat effective against the flood. To write them off completely seems fool hardy
@@greenfrog5647 yeaaaah.. but soldiers aren't deployed for fun, on their own territory. If they're deployed it means the government has signs of serious trouble. Which means it's already over, the flood are in the air (birds, aircraft), soil, water supply, the ocean (boats, sea life, subs) and on the ground (cars, trucks/vehicles, railroad, trees, any and all fauna, and the atmosphere (spread by spore mountains). Whoever's approved the deployment is probably operating on info that's days old and probably aren't even aware of how far it's spread.
As opportunistic as I am normally, uh - I think we'd be better off giving the covenant keys to their rings than trying to stop the flood
If the flood occured somewhere in the desert like the great Sahara or similar areas it might be stopped a lot more easily due to the lack of population in those regions
Plus lack of water bodies so the infection spreading or the creation of new flood life forms would also be avoided
10:20 funnily enough i made a flame thrower that shot out 10+ foot flames when i was 14 here in the US, it's surprisingly easy to make.
Remember on Game of Thrones when Robert Baratheon asks "what is the greater number, 5 or 1?" And Cersei guesses 1, and Robert then holds up 5 fingers and then closes it into a fist saying 1, "one army, one purpose."
That is the Flood, completely unified into one goal and willing to do anything to achieve it.
I don’t think any of us would survive if we were actually caught within an outbreak of the flood
Napalm and white phosphorous munitions: "Our time has come!"
On a scale of one to Gravemind, how screwed are we? I think it’s a key mind.
Nah b, it's screwed on the level of time and space itself. Unless we go nuclear crazy which we could absolutely contain it with standard day ICBMs
Okay just that intro, listening to the A.I of the televised system, turning its speech into quotes from the gravemind. That's actually pretty creepy.
Man started this video off with some serious analog horror 😂😂
On a scale from 1 to gravemind how screwed are we, we're fu.
The second a single 'zombie' shows up everyone everywhere would be demanding the nuclear option.
This is possibly the most goated remake you could have done
The 240 is also a crew served so you dedicate 2-3 people per gun. Also there is always the SAW that’s in each fireteam
I would survive, if I was on the other side of the planet and the flood got nuked 15 times.
Somebody did a theoretical video about the Flood invading Earth. Fact of the matter is, we’d at most, have a year of survival.
"I am a timeless chorus; join your voice with mine, and sing victory everlasting!"
"On a scale of one to gravemind, how screwed are we in this scenario?"
I'm already getting my gun and putting my happy ass in a shelter so I can off myself knowing the Flood won't be able to resurrect me.
So uh... yeah, That's an 11.
"Flamethrowers arent exactly srandard issue"
*laughs in commercial availability of fmalethrowers in america*
Omg that intro was awesome
If COVID-19 is any indication to how most people would take a quarantine like this, we’d be doomed.
