Cher has influenced me a bit to get back into skateboarding this past year after stepping away for 20. I came out as trans 5 years ago and started medical transition 2 years ago. Baught a new board 2 months ago and relearning old tricks! Thank you Cher for being an influence to even us older girls!
So good! My old city was really transphobic in Arizona. I moved back to LA and I'm getting back into the swing of things. This video honestly lit a fire under my ass, I'm musician too and I feel Cher's passion for skating. I just Ollied on a skateboard today for the first time today since I stopped a few years back after getting ACL- Reconscructive surgery. I'm remembering my love for skating again as young adult in their 20's now remembering how much fun I used to have when I was younger. My partner was stoked when I told them earlier that I got on my board and we're going to start skating when they get home from their trip they are on right now. This was motivational, thank you Cher and thanks Vans for making skateboarding great! I really want to go skate now
I've met both Corey Duffel and Rob Welsh through skateboarding and have had conversations with both of them. I've had met a lot of professional skateboarders back in the day when I was into it, and these two are truly two of the kindest people in the business. It's not surprising to me that they are so open and welcoming to include everybody in skateboarding.

This is what I love about skateboarding. I've been skating for 36 years and am always stoked when I meet new people no matter who they are. I was a weird, awkward kid that got bullied a lot, but I was accepted in the skate scene. Other skateboarders understood my weirdness. I try to extend that to other people. I'm not a pro -- I've only been riding for a few months, and I don't make a lot of friends in skateparks or in general. Cher is so so so huge when it comes to giving me the confidence to express myself the way I want and to keep loving skateboarding

Skateboarding hasn't really changed. It's always been a pretty welcoming community. That's what drew me to it. I got picked on really bad growing up, but when I was around other skateboarders none of that shit mattered because they got picked on too. The only criticism you got was if you did an ugly trick and sometimes it made you keep doing it because it's an ugly trick.
