Martin will probably comment later but in my experience with the saw, it is exceptionally strong with a 40cm, it runs really well with a 45cm and is a little underpowered with a 50cm, especially in hardwood. For me, 45cm gives a little more reach (I am tall) and is still powerful in any situation.

I had a ms361 for 18 years! It still runs but I just went out and bought this exact saw! Ms 362! Great saws! I love Stihl saws!
Bought MS362 in November 2023 and have ran five tanks of fuel through it. Light, quick, I’m diggin’ it!
Saving up for one now! My 261 is a great saw, but lacks the power for making quick work of the bigger stuff when felling trees.
