- Wow, what an awesome opportunity to travel halfway around the world to help produce the first year of MIA music festival. This was my first time visiting China, and this was the largest stage I've had the chance to design so far.
In this video, I'll walk you through our first day of setup for the festival.
Patreon supporters have full access to the plots, renderings, and 3D files used to build this show. Support my content here: / christianjackson
We spent a whole week putting this show together and I'm VERY thankful for the following people who made it all happen:
Sunny & Tim from Dawnstage - dawnstage.net/
Pavel Parakhonich - VJ / parakhonich
Austin - Production Manager
Whitney Mak - Lighting project manager
Fiona Liang - Runner & hospitality

Pretty sure most of the lighting fixtures on stage are from China's 'big' lighting manufacturers like Terbly/Goldensea (who I think own Ayrton), ACME e.t.c. Also, love those dual sided 360 bars (Jolly D5 BS), they look very cool.
Love the change in aspect ratio during the travel montages.
Shame I wasn't around for the premier lol... great video, look forward to part 2!
Just realized I watched part 2 first 😂 love your channel

Master class definitely needs to ask you to do a class. Who else agrees?
0:43 i can touch the bass trough my screen wow
reminds me of an IT project.......great vid,
part 2 please!!!
Please make a video/instagram story about those labels, that's a fantastic idea!
Question : what is your peli case model ?
And whaa very nice video ! Awesome to discover how others works!
When is the seccond part coming online?
Awesome and informational video Christian. Thank you.
Hey Christian
Loving the behind stage and the bulid
I don't think straps would go down well in the UK either 😂
I'm a film lighting guy, I'm so jealous
How amazing is Hawaii?! Which part where you guys at?
The camera work looked awesome. Are you using a body cam? If so what is it?
Im very interested in the work that had to be done prior to this video! What CAD Software did you use? How far could you influence the scenic design? How is your workflow regarding settimg up the lights on the pc and then extracting a showfile from it?
I work in a small shop as a CAD planner with Vectorworks and I always ask myself how that all works on big shows like this.
Equinox are going to be making a fixture similar to the D5 BS.
When is part two coming out!
Nice! New video, can someone explain the merch to me as I don’t get it
What splitters did you use?
Ooh! The Avery labels for fixtures is fantastic. Goodbye label machine! The problem with the label printers is the label tape is heat sensitive and some get turned black due to bad placement.
The advantage of the label printers is they can be used on site and on demand. But... sometimes black labels.
Great video! One thing i noticed: it sounds like you're recording the voiceover with a stereo microphone, and it is a bit weird, the sound isn't completely in the center, a bit shifted to the right. Summing the VO track to mono should fix this issue.
Hello. I'm so excited after watching your videos about event production, lighting, stage design.. Do you have a university degree in this field? However if you do not, will you recommend to receive it?
So when you set up the lights do you connect them like x and stuff
Was that Printworks, London at the start?
Did you recommend those brand DMX distros and ArtNet nodes? If not, what do you recommend?
Do you Photoshop the dmx stickers? Or use a label maker software
DROP EVERYTHING HE POSTED
Please do a tour video of that pelican you showed off
nice
Where's the corner blocks? (tilts down) Oh.......
Hey bro, which mixing console is this you are using in this vedio
I've a question for you: How did you become a well-known LD?
I am your fancs in China
4:58 why do you have 40 channel offset between fixtures although they are 39 channels each ? Is it for convenience ?
because the actual fixtures occupy 40 channels, but the fixture in capture has a different channel number. I will often add a few channels of space between fixtures on shows like this where modes might not be documented properly. this allows space for errors.
Thank you :)
What design program do you use to create that?
10:46 what stageplot/design software are you using
Have you done any shows for Excision
how did you make the DMX stickers?
