I agree. I also have watches throughout many price ranges and my first watch that I considered to be a gift to myself after college was an elongated rose gold tank Seiko on a brown leather strap that looks like a Gruen Curvex or Cartier Tank Americaine and I still have it in my collection. Quite frankly I’m not going to wear a Cartier, JLC or the like if I’m leaving the house expressly to fill my car with fuel or shop for groceries nor would I wear them if I was tending to my garden. A fuel station isn’t the most prudent place to wear a Rolex and the parking lot of a grocery store is also an impractical place to be overdressed these days. In truth I find that I expect to bruise even some of my mid level tier of luxury watches performing office work and reserve some of my best pieces for leisure only. I personally think that having a Seiko solar quartz is the ultimate care free watch. It never needs any maintenance at all. You can sleep wearing them, swim and bathe in them. This company is amazing at being better than anything in its segment and having many question why the next few segments above them exist.
This was the first automatic watch I got for myself last year and I've since got another 6 - 7 watches... it's really like that speed drug that gets you hooked into the whole hobby.
Seiko probably didnt think these small size watches would be so popular. I love my seiko 5 which looks similar to this one but has a 6 and 12 marker. I like the touch of red.
You love that Lange. This is a video about a Seiko, yet the Lange got almost as much time. I like the Seiko, but the last thing I need is another cheap watch. I think most of us in this hobby start out with the $100 watches and work our way up.
Great video I'm tore between Seiko SNLK45 Black baby Sarb Seiko SNXS79k Black Sun burst dial Seiko SNK393 Black Dial with 12 and 6 numbering SEIKO SNK361 Black textured dial
I bought mine right before 2020 started. It just recently stopped keeping time. I have worn the watch every day and stopped wearing it for a week and just felt empty. Like... something was missing. It is the companion that is always here even when I’m not thinking about it. It is being serviced right now. I had the decision of buying a $250 seiko or service my current watch and have it much better regulated and healthier. I chose to service my snk. The only thing that the snk doesn’t have for me is water proofing and a little bit more size. It’s $100 and you can’t beat it at that price range. Best purchase I have made this year. Cheers guys. Happy to be reunited with my SNK next week
I think the Seiko 5's are well styled, well made, respectable watches, especially considering their prices. They are easy to wear precisely because they are quite cheap. I own two and am still looking.
Worth every penny and a whole lot more as well but don't tell Seiko. You know what they're like at the minute for rinsing every thing they can out of the customer 😁. Great review for a great watch. Cheers A.B
I’ve had it for two years now, it’s been in the stock folded stainless bracelet, have to find some leather options other than black. Trying to find a tan or even an ostrich leather for it.
I just don't understand why so called enthousiasts need hacking, esp. in conjunction with hand winding. Do they all serve in the SAS or Delta Force and therefore collectively need to know exactly what time it is (not to mention that accuracy is never 100%)? If so, buy a watch with atomic time sync.
I agree with where you started. That Seiko is a terrific watch, and I'd like to have one. But having one will not make me love my Datejust any less. Said another way, having a Datejust doesn't make the Seiko irrelevant. This habit doesn't have to draw blood every time out. But if you take some pain *some* of the time, it has a way of making the pain-free ones seem even cooler.
Hi, greetings from Colombia. Just wanted to tell you I got into watches after seeing your snkl41 video. I spent almost 3 months watching videos and reviews when I found the seagull 1963. Saved a lot and went with the hked 1963 which I love. Now I went back and ordered this snkl45j1 from jomashop as my second watch. If you could give me some tips or anything you want to share with me about this j version, it would be amazing. Sorry if my english is not so good
Great video AB. My son bought his first watch with his money and he bought a Seiko 5. He loves that watch and when asked when he is going to upgrade he just says why, I already have a watch, and to this day he never goes anywhere without his Seiko 5. Thanks again, Brian.
You left out the most important detail. The watch is an SNKL45 J1 model. Made in Japan. It has " Made in Japan " stamped on the dial at the 7 o'clock position and on the transparent case back. " Japan " is also stamped on the bracelet clasp and winding rotor. The J1 model is a bit more expensive than the K ( Malaysia ) model, but those stamps are worth it.
Thanks for the video. I guess I'm looking for a more accurate time keeping watch. And suggestions? Affordability is key as well, I'm at around $200 - $300 price range.. thanks
Just got a Seiko 5. Beautiful watch for the price. But without handwinding and not wearing it everyday, i find myself having to shake it for a minute to get it restarted. Then reset the time. Its quite annoying. How long do you guys need to shake it/wear it to get it restarted?
Get a watch winder and you'll never have that problem again😁👍, you'll have to shake it for about a min straight, it should be almost fully wound by then.
The seiko 5s are great entry for new collectors and they worth the price. btw Friday is pronounced in Arabic "Al-jumaa" and "aa" is actually a special letter in Arabic which doesn't have an equivalent to give an example lol but it's hard to pronounce for non native Arabic speakers
have a similar piece . same movement slightly bigger and with arabic numerals. swapped the frankly bad bracelet with a brown horween and it is a lovely thing.....makes me want a grand seiko
After 2 decades of watch collecting, I've never seen this 5 with the Red second hand, it does really add to the watch's character. Unfortunately with my 7.6" wrist I think it is probably too small for me, where 38mm is the absolute smallest I would go...
Great looking watch. I actually prefer it to the SNKL23 which everyone seems to go crazy about. Love it. I’ve got one on order. I’m glad someone else thinks it’s cool too
Gorgeous photography. I have one of these with the deep blue face. WAY cool. Paired with a navy faux croc strap it really works. The crocs rocks! Whatever.
I have 2x Seiko 5s (SNXG47K1 and an SNXS79K) and 2x Orient TriStars on my cheap Chinese watch winder, both Seikos will be 10 minutes out after a month, the Orients less than a minute. Lose the folded link nasty bracelets on all 4 watches and swap them out for leather and they all look much more expensive than they actually were.
Oof 25 seconds a day? I get that a lot of people love mechanical watches, I really do and I respect that. At the same time I have a $15 Casio quartz watch with a 10 year battery. I set it to atomic time 3 weeks ago and today it’s off by 1 second. This fact alone makes it difficult for me personally to want to invest much money in a mechanical watch. Cheers.
Seiko is fine. Jomashop sold me a defective watch that they took 7 months to repair and only then after I contacted my credit card company. I had bought around 25 watches from them and they treated me like crap.
I bought 4 seiko 5s around 1990,1 in 1998 and 1 in 2011,I can go months without wearing one (years even)and they always start right away.citizen eagle 7s are always good as well but I don't think they make them anymore.
I have found it on Amazon and on eBay. Joma Shop has fantastic offers when you’re based in the USA 🇺🇸. If not, they charge you quite a lot. And there are lots of different opinions about this company online. Anyway, 👍for presentation
I love the snkl45. What keeps me from buying it is the size. 37mm is fine for me but from 12 to 6 it is only 35mm. I wonder how it would wear on my wrist
Definitely this line is a starter. Sadly, and probably for most, we dig it, wear it, then work our way to a $250, then a $500, then a $1000. But you have to start somewhere.
These videos have been amazing. The value on the Seiko 5 is just hard to pass on. Im just not getting tired of this WCS x Jomashop partnership. Can you review a AP next?
I have this watch and it's beautiful but I wish it were a larger case. On my 7 ¼ wrist it's just a tad too small in my opinion. Other than that, the bracelet is pretty sub par. Its pretty good but I suspect it'll just lead you to buy something else that's more satisfying.
Great review, nice looking watch, but I find it hard to get interested in any watch that can't be hand-wound. This for me is the big drawback of the 5's. Wish they would offer with the NH35/36 movements.
well maybe I'm the luckiest seiko fanboy, i have this seiko 5 and the other one snkk87, and the accuracy is only +1s/day, sometimes it is 0s/day.. never regulate it ever.. I started to doubt to enter higher end seiko watch 😂, seiko 5 giving me more than i paid..
The J models are Made in Japan. They have Arabic/English day indicators. The K models ( Malaysian ) have Spanish/English day indicators. When ordering your Seiko 5, make sure it's a J model.
Is it though? I know lots of people oppose the idea of buying a chinese watch, but there are watches they sell for under $60 with a seiko nh35 movement and sapphire crystal... I somewhat agree that Seikos are great, but they are no longer the super affordable value kings they used to be. I'd say for 50 it would be amazing, for around 80-110 i can do better. But nice watches for sure.
Makes me laugh when people say they want a more accurate watch,it's probably the same people that turn up late for events wearing a quartz digital timepiece.
Just because seiko says 7S26 is acceptable at +/-25 seconds a day doesn't mean that that's what you're gonna get out of the Box, that statement is misleading, I have a "sea urchin" that was running +/-8 seconds a day out of the box which has now been regulated to ± 2 sec a day, and that was the start of my addiction lol. I now have a pressage blue cocktail, srp713, and 3 orients, ugh....
Seiko 5's are the Gateway drug, you get one, there's no turning back.
I've had the blue dialed one, SNKL43 for a while now and just acquired the SNKL23. Great watches.
I agree. I also have watches throughout many price ranges and my first watch that I considered to be a gift to myself after college was an elongated rose gold tank Seiko on a brown leather strap that looks like a Gruen Curvex or Cartier Tank Americaine and I still have it in my collection.

Here 3 years later Needing to find that rubber black strap at 7:05 none of the others online have the no straight pattern.
Seiko probably didnt think these small size watches would be so popular. I love my seiko 5 which looks similar to this one but has a 6 and 12 marker. I like the touch of red.

Seiko SNLK45 Black baby Sarb
Seiko SNXS79k Black Sun burst dial
Seiko SNK393 Black Dial with 12 and 6 numbering
SEIKO SNK361 Black textured dial
Which one did you choose? I went with the snxs79
Where’s the link for the rubber strap?
I bought mine right before 2020 started. It just recently stopped keeping time. I have worn the watch every day and stopped wearing it for a week and just felt empty. Like... something was missing. How much does the service cost?

i am now the owner of snkl45. And yes i have bought after watching this video. I am now in the process of buying more series of seiko 5.
Where are all the links that you mentioned that were going to be on here...especially the waffle strap from Amazon?
I’ve had it for two years now, it’s been in the stock folded stainless bracelet, have to find some leather options other than black. Trying to find a tan or even an ostrich leather for it.
I just don't understand why so called enthousiasts need hacking, esp. in conjunction with hand winding. Do they all serve in the SAS or Delta Force and therefore collectively need to know exactly what time it is (not to mention that accuracy is never 100%)? If so, buy a watch with atomic time sync.
Prob peace of mind. I wouldn’t want to have to keep resetting the time everytime I wear my watch.
I just bought my seiko 5 7s26 with 3 hour position crown for 55€ what a deal.. the watch is new and its beautifull
I was wanting a black dial dress watch... and I think this may be my next purchase. It looks like it can dress up very easily.
Definitely can't go qrong with a Seiko 5. I like the red details on this one. Thanks AB👍
I agree with where you started. That Seiko is a terrific watch, and I'd like to have one. But having one will not make me love my Datejust any less. i beg to differ actually. The QC isnt that fantastic to warrant the additional top up I feel. Saw many reviewers comment on that too.
Just bought a Seiko SNK375 from you. Best price on the web. Gotta wait for Christmas however.
Anyone knows where to get the exact same waffle style strap?
Were can you get one for under $100☘️
Hello where i can found the black caucciù strap?I dont found it in Amazon :(
Thanks for the video.
I guess I'm looking for a more accurate time keeping watch. And suggestions?
Affordability is key as well, I'm at around $200 - $300 price range.. thanks
Thanks brother
bought this watch for 98$ before this was 130$ they were clearing the stock so i got for cheap
This guy goes on a bit, thought I’d tuned into the history channel.. 🤪🤪
3:10 that's Friday in Arabic.
5:50 that's an Egyptian accent. Glad to know you're Egyptian AB! Greetings from Morocco!🇪🇬🇲🇦
@Malik Martin I actually thought he was Latino 😁 until I heard him speak Arabic.
Btw, it's ahmAd bro😡 jk lol
Whats is this watch ur wearing in the intro? I didnt get that.
Just got a Seiko 5. Beautiful watch for the price. But without handwinding and not wearing it everyday, i find myself having to shake it for a minute to get it restarted. Then reset the time. Its quite annoying. How long do you guys need to shake it/wear it to get it restarted?

Dude, the videography is fantastic!!
What camera do you use for the close up shots?
Thanks John! This was shot with a Canon, my new work is a different camera
Superb review, loved the feature of the different straps. Really great knowledge and beautiful photography. Bravo.
The seiko 5 is the best watch I ever owned. It literally tics 6 times per second, and sounds like a browning machine gun next to my ear.
i dont know what to buy tbh this is going to be my first watch.SNKL45? SNKL41? SNXS79K?. Where to buy it maybe amazon?

my seiko 5 SNKA07 was $300. why would the seiko 5s vary in price? do they use different components in different models of the 5??
Great video! I just got my first Seiko 5 yesterday (SNKL41J1) and I’m in love with it!!
Made in Japan everywhere on the watch.
Beautifully presented !!!

How much was that grail ⌚ your wearing 🤔
Name or link to black waffle strap? Thanks
I own 3 Seiko's: 1st is caliber 7s26 Seiko 5 Sports, 2nd is caliber 4r36a Baby Monster Seiko 5, 3rd is SEIKO Chronograph
Great looking watch. I actually prefer it to the SNKL23 which everyone seems to go crazy about. Love it. I’ve got one on order. I’m glad someone else thinks it’s cool too
Probably going to be my first automatic watch. It's like 88 bucks right now on Amazon.
Purchase link?
Great review! Really interested in the Arabic days dial - what model is that?
@4:29 that is some flexing right there!
Gorgeous photography. I have one of these with the deep blue face. WAY cool. Paired with a navy faux croc strap it really works. The crocs rocks! Whatever.
Hi dude, what's your wrist size ?
How does this compare with the sarb033 in terms of case design, richness of materials etc?
Hi bro as u said u ll link the rubber strap link which u Used on this watch.
Where are the links to the straps, can't find it in the description part of your video.
Looks nice I have snkl41(white)... Don't know why still can't take off the gshok oak and wear my other watches again
bro i need to know where did you get that rubber style strap please that is so beauuuutiful
I should add these were my gateway drug into a collection of over 30 automatic watches.
I didn't see any of the links for the straps, and you said you would have the links. I really want to try out that rubber atrap.
I bought a Seiko 5 in 1990 when I was 18. Had it for two years and sold it for 80% of what I paid to a watch maker.
Cheers.
Another fantastic video, will you link the straps, especially the rubber waffle 🙏🏻
Hi AB,
Nice review, I bought the dress KX that you reviewed awhile back. I don't see the strap links, specifically the rubber waffle.
Thanks
Just ordered my first mechanical. The special seiko edition street fighter v ryu version
Very nice review, I have the same watch, it is very beautiful, in sunlight the dial is like dark chocolate, fully recommended.
Seiko is fine. Jomashop sold me a defective watch that they took 7 months to repair and only then after I contacted my credit card company. I had bought around 25 watches from them and they treated me like crap.

link for the black calf strap?
I have found it on Amazon and on eBay. Joma Shop has fantastic offers when you’re based in the USA 🇺🇸. If not, they charge you quite a lot. And there are lots of different opinions about this company online. Anyway, 👍for presentation
Oh..What the awesome red second hand
I'll mod my snxs79 by the orange second hand
I've got this in white and I love it. Nice review and video. Keep it up.
What's the exact model of this Seiko 5 @ 3:24?
i want to know the brand of watch right one in 7:23
I love the snkl45.
I got an orient as a first. Comming tomorrow
Where i am purchasing in saudi arabia
These videos have been amazing. The value on the Seiko 5 is just hard to pass on. Im just not getting tired of this WCS x Jomashop partnership. Can you review a AP next?
Lange is next😁👍
Sknl41 or 45? What do you think?
go with both if you can afford it but for the love of Ray J, please change the strap and get a leather ones and it'll look 100x its price tag.
I have a SNKL23 its the same with a silver seconds hand replace the bracelet for a leather strap
Me too. The 23 is a little more dressy than the 45 but they are almost the same.
@@NJ-uh6hz next would be to get the SNKL15 the silver dial version....
I have this watch and it's beautiful but I wish it were a larger case. On my 7 ¼ wrist it's just a tad too small in my opinion. Other than that, the bracelet is pretty sub par. The non hacking/non hand winding is behind the times nowadays. Overall, it's not the greatest but it's a pretty solid automatic watch with good looks. Its pretty good but I suspect it'll just lead you to buy something else that's more satisfying.
الجمعة looks so beautiful
Great review, nice looking watch, but I find it hard to get interested in any watch that can't be hand-wound. This for me is the big drawback of the 5's. Wish they would offer with the NH35/36 movements.
Is their a silver dial version. It is a pretty nice watch for the money. Should be more accurate though.
Yes, the Seiko SNKL41, it's more classy-ish and the movement is easily regulated
Or the SNKL15. Mine runs -8/day on a lizard strap.
Marc over at Long Island watch just got some new ones in stock
How's the accuracy on this now? I've read in a few forums that the 7S26 becomes more accurate after some use
Thats true, i get a remarkable 2/3sec a day accuracy from it: SNZG07J1
Make them 36mm case please. A 38mm drowns my 6.25 inch wrist
well maybe I'm the luckiest seiko fanboy, i have this seiko 5 and the other one snkk87, and the accuracy is only +1s/day, sometimes it is 0s/day.. never regulate it ever.. I started to doubt to enter higher end seiko watch 😂, seiko 5 giving me more than i paid..
I so freaking want to get that seiko with Arabic days. It's so cool. Does anyone know from where to get one like it?
The J models are Made in Japan. They have Arabic/English day indicators.
The K models ( Malaysian ) have Spanish/English day indicators.
When ordering your Seiko 5, make sure it's a J model.
People miss the point when they try to change the strap on a watch like that. The beauty is in the combo w the cheap bracelet.
My guy this is not 100$ watch..
With discount 150€ + strap its around 250€ which its nearly 300$
But it has the day lmao, think it through first!
DAFFY DUCK reviewing Seiko watches.
Fuck watches with date
Every month pain in ass
Truely automatic with out date is beautiful
Now at $115 at Jomashop lol how did that happen?
In my opinion.
Makes me laugh when people say they want a more accurate watch,it's probably the same people that turn up late for events wearing a quartz digital timepiece.
will buy one day with white dial 😖😖
They say it needs battery too. Still is it an automatic and not quartz? I am not watch savvy, hence this question.
automatic
Just because seiko says 7S26 is acceptable at +/-25 seconds a day doesn't mean that that's what you're gonna get out of the Box, that statement is misleading, I have a "sea urchin" that was running +/-8 seconds a day out of the box which has now been regulated to ± 2 sec a day, and that was the start of my addiction lol. I now have a pressage blue cocktail, srp713, and 3 orients, ugh....
I have an SKX going + 3 so got very luck
Thats true, i get a remarkable 2/3sec a day accuracy from it: SNZG07J1
👍靚
