    I been running an old JBL 250PW and I looked at buying one of these klipsch subs as an upgrade as they’ve got good reviews. However, I’ve now upgraded to the SVS PB16 ULTRA and OMG what a difference!! I brought the SVS PB16 based on one of your videos/reviews and this thing transformed my cinema/music experience. Keep up the good work I like your channel.

    Hi Micheal,
    I have been using a pair of the Klipsch's R-112SW subs. I recently started using them with the wireless feature.
    I owe you a huge thank you!!! I discovered your TH-cam channel several months ago. You recently helped me with my configuration. I have a 7.2.2 Klipsch system I recently purchased the F7's III front LCR.

    I was seriously considering a pair of these before going the diy route, but I read so many reviews saying the amp had died, so basically the high failure rate scared me away from buying any newer Klipsch powered subwoofer, that and the 400 watts seems very weak compared to many other 15s on the market. I believe Klipsch has fixed the amp failing issue that plagued the early production 115s and 112s...that might be worth looking into and mentioning in your next video on these.

      They were going to send me an R-115SW many many months ago. But for whatever reason, it took them quite a while to send them to me. They reached out to me at the end of last year and asked if I would be interested in reviewing an entire 7.2.4 system. I'm looking forward to your full review. I just received two of these just before Christmas. They are a definite upgrade from what I had. Much deeper bass. I've located them in the front corners of the room which is great for aesthetics but they are a little boomy at times. I'm probably going to have to play with the location to improve that.
    The other thing I still lack to some degree is the 'kick in the chest' aspect that I have felt in a friends home theater. I feel like these should be able to give me that but haven't found the magic setup yet.
    Thanks for your great reviews. Again, I look forward to your full review of these subs.

    My sub is a DIY ported 12" 500watt box from Parts-Express. It was fun to look up data on driver size and excursion vs cabinet size, as well as effects of lengths of ports. The custom sub integrates really well with my setup (both sound and having a cherry wood finish instead of just the black that regular brands have). My living area isn't that big, so 1 12" seems plenty (my front towers are considered pretty good for large full range, so I also ran calcs to be sure the subwoofer could go below 20hz...it does shake glasses on my kegorator with deep-bass scenes). Being cherry finish, it also blends in with my contemporary furniture (important for SO factor). I did think it funny that when I first ran the Audyssey setup, it said to move the sub's volume to half-way. I knew that was going to be too much, and sure enough, after manually dialing the test tone to 75DB, the volume is more like 1/4.

    Sorry you cannot say pushing them up the wall will not add boominess with a slot port. Every room is is different and standing waves are room dependant.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I was referring to is if you have a rear ported sub, you really need some space between the ports and the wall. With the R-115SW, you can place it against the wall without the guaranteed boominess. Every room is different so as you mention, you have to play with location or test with REW to see where you get the best frequency response from

    • @briansimmons5363
      @briansimmons5363 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Youthman understood except placing against the wall "without the guaranteed of boominess" i disagree with. Rear port would result in boominest for sure but front port is not a guarantee of not boomiest. And yes REW is awesome.

    • @Youthman

      Read my comment again. What I’m saying is you could place the R-115SW against the wall and not get boominess but then again you could place it against the wall and get boominess. Depends on the room.

      Hi Terry, check out my Audyssey video here -th-cam.com/video/6Z0svzYSAEM/w-d-xo.html. At about 12:57 in the video, I discuss crossovers and at 15:42 I talk about LFE. If your sub has an LFE input, use it and it will bypass your sub's crossover or you can turn the crossover as high as it will go and use your receiver to set the 120Hz crossover.

When I ran the Audyssey calibration it wanted me to set the Hz to 75 before it would continue the calibration. I ran the calibration and left everything the way it was (I made no tweaks). Then I saw (and read a lot of things) that said I should let the amp do the control and set the Hz to LFE. So I did that but should I have just let the subwoofer set at 75Hz. I have the volume set at about 50% on my Klipsch R-115sw with my front stage of RF7-II and RC64-II.
