When my toddler realized that nothing exciting was happening in the small hours, no play before dawn ,no lights were switched on ,no conversation or any kind of entertainment in any shape or form,he classed us as most boring parents and sulkingly slept some more. Worked in the long run .
Same here. We had a lot of children and used that method throughout. The mean reason being that it's okay to go to bed early and enjoy those crack of dawn hours with one child but when there are others who start needing parents to be awake a bit later in the evening, it doesn't work.
My toddler continued to wake up, despite us using the same method. He’s now 10 and still wakes at least once during the night. Some people are just programmed that way, and that’s ok.
@@claireskinner9077 Absolutely. However, they have to get the message that others (i.e., parents in this case) have to sleep at those hours. Anyway, we won't hijack these comments with a discussion on wakeful toddlers! I'm sure that these wonderful parents will work out for themselves how best to deal with this. ☺
If it is a lifelong habit they get used to reading, etc. A friend effecively had lunch (but never daytime lunch). What time does William go to bed? Some babies are night owls If early, I would keep him relaxed and mobile but not overstimulated for, say, another hour until he is sleepy. During the night, I would offer him a drink of milk, perhaps, then explain 'we have to go back to bed to sleep now'. We could always club together for a (battery) sleep bear, if they work, especially if he is in his own room.
One of the reasons Bollington has lovely people is that it’s nickname is the Happy Valley. You’re very right about the people all being so welcoming too. You are also correct about the depth of the canal there in Bollington and the whole of the Macclesfield canal. It’s mainly a stepped wall so that’s why you’ll find it very shallow at the banks.
A great video. The night shots of the snow covered scenes combined with lighting effects are stunning. A great balance of activities and subject matter. I have already this twice.
You are both such wonderful parents that I'm sure you realise that William was learning by copying when he was saying "Cat" and "Mum" and learning by experimentation when he was throwing the bricks behind himself when lying down. Carry on your good work my favorite new parents Ray
William is so cute, you can really see his personality coming out now. Vic, you might want to invest in a portable battery jumper. I bought one a year ago and have jumped everyone else's battery except mine. I even used it to jump a friends boat battery at the river. Mine also doubles as a charger for cell phones or tablets.
That was a lovely "Day in the Life" video. William is getting quite chatty now. This village seems the epitome of great customer service. I am happy you have found this place a made new friends. Thanks so much for sharing these winter days with us. I do believe you have gotten more snow though than I have here in my part of Virginia. Y'all have a Blessed day.
I always enjoy the shopping scenes, just to compare prices. The snow looks so picturesque, though I guess it could make life on the cut even more challenging than it is already. You certainly have gotten a lot of good use out of your Prospector canoe. I bet it has a story or two behind it--it's a long way from Canada!
Lots of respect for this weeks film, just the amount of work in filming the toilet trip alone with all the re positioning of the camera each time earns you 10 points. keep safe you three. When I win the lotto I will get you a long self heating boat with guest area + curtains.
You tickle my week /month...i wish you did more vlogs because you make me laugh. My 3 kids have left home finally & it may be 27 years of childcare but oh ...how can one forget those Early mornings . Your cakes make me drool &busy in my kitchen 🤤🤭. I think you're Fantastic. Thanks for being you...Your avid follower in France 😍
At about 9:15, you say ... "everyone is so nice ....". I am glad to say that " ... that is what makes the world go round!!" Decide who to hang around with ... and I love hanging around with your awesome videos.
Brilliant video and well edited, real life . Pleased the curtains worked out for you . Best wishes to all three of you and thanks for sharing. ps , two and a half press ups is good (🤣🤣🤣)
Hi all just subscribed taken a while wasn’t quite sure how to do it. Just to say I have loved watching you and especially William growing up so fast. You are so lovely altogether. Looking forward to Spring and watch you baking and selling your coffee. Thank you for sharing your time.
Loved following your story in the Metro this morning. Well done Joanne Matt and William, I’m glad to be a part of it. Looking forward to the next episode.
At about 15:30, you say ... "boaters boatyard, but not all of them are like that ..." Once again I am glad to say that " ... that is what makes the world go round!!"
Who'd a thunk Id be on a Sunday Morning watching so narrowboaters do laundry....I'm sure the Japanese or the Germans have a word for it..but this is submlime..therapy? Thank you for letting us into your life. Spring will come and so will cafe adventures!
Thanks, guys, what a lovely few days you have had there even though the weather, to me, looks horrendous. All that white crunchy stuff that we never ever see down this way. It looks so cold. Not the best environment for me, I would have to visit in what you call Summer I think. Dare I say it Vic, but I think your hopes of using Holly as a B&B are Curtains. Those are just not going to make it. I would think Jo might have had something to say about them LOL
Hello you lovely people. so good to see you and how william has grown. I have a similar dressing gown and my gas bill has gone down since i got it. Take care and see you soon.
Love the curtains! Enjoy your company. William is growing like a weed and so full of it, chip off the old block. You have more snow there then we have in coastal Maine.
This took me back in time as my son used to get me up at 4am every day too. I remember on holiday walking with him in his pushchair by the sea at 4am so that he didn’t wake the rest of the family up. You’re very energetic going to the gym in the snow at that early hour, I think I’d have done the same as William and Jo and gone back to bed instead! I really enjoyed this vlog. Take care you 3. X
Spot on. You all look like you enjoy the cowd weather. Oh and by the way Vic, 1:56 your Graphic/Musical editing didn't go unnoticed mate. I went to the gym once, I only went on 1 machine, it was in reception full of crisps chocolate n Fanta Orange.
Ahh bless, lovely vlog. My your wee laddie is growing up so quickly and he’s so utterly cute just want to give him a huge hug. Promise me you won’t change your day job to curtain manufacturer!! 🤣
How wonderful to see the snow and street lights. So very pretty. You're moored in a good place as shopping and other facilities go. It's a pity you can't get a longer mooring somewhere around that area. You're both very adaptable and take on every challenge as it arises. William is coming along well with his words etc. You must be proud of what you've achieved.
Brilliant vlog😁as usual 😊 everything TH-cam should aspire too be😊followed you from the first vlog….inspirational content from the beginning 🤔many thanks and just keep going guys😀Perfect👌😊👍😚
Love the vid, well done, if it helps, I’m 37 years down the road from you (son is 37!) but he still wakes me up at 0540 last week, it’s my fault for leaving my phone on apparently😂
How I recall those charming early mornings (He said through seriously gritted teeth!!). I noticed in the last vlog how William was into geese. Kept kn saying it. I imagine that geese must be quite a departure from his habitual vocabulary. The word is hard at the beginning and all hissy at the end, much like an encounter with geese themselves!
Nice curtains. Years ago, staying in a friends RV with no curtains, we put garbage bags up with masking tape. They worked great, & we had an awesome visit with our friends! Very little light came in. Smile, & enjoy life!😊
Yours is one of the few videos I watch right to the end. ………..always interesting, funny and warm. I really enjoy your adventures and hope you have a great 2023…
Ref starter Battery, Asumme that the house batteries are also 12volt, You just need to run a switched jumper cable setup from house to Starter Battery for the odd time you leave it to long between runs... May never need, but a good way to ensure you can start it.. Maybe even a set off cables using Heavy Duty Anderson Plugs each end and setup on both Narrow Boats... Just a thought
I just love watching you both. Although you have problems you rise above them all and cope. If only the world had your attitude, it would be a happier place. Enjoy your friends 🤗
I love the quiet hours before morning light. I wish you could find a place to use as a base and fit into the community, yet maintain your traveling business. Hmmm????
Nice one Young Bill is a proper chap look a nice place there good to see that mill still standing I grew up in Manchester and most of um av been flattened I worked in a cotton mill in da 80ts for a yr looking bk now it was an amazing place to work did not seem it at the time That Herring looked well Sad have a Top week 🙂☕️🍰✌️
Today I'm going to lay down on the floor and throw some random things behind my back. That really made me chuckle. Loving the vlogs... so well edited (of course) and I appreciate you showing us the balance between the fantastic parts of life on a boat and the slightly sh*ttier ones. You don't try to polish the you know whats.
I smiled through your entire vlog. I watched it twice to get my VJW fix. Joanna's cozy robe is wonderful. Adorable family!! Curtains 😆 were perfect! ! ! After exploring TH-cam monetization plan, I will not skip ads. Hope it help$ 😉 Hugs from Indiana, USA

The reason people are nice towards you 3 and welcome you with open arms is because you're beautiful people😘
Nothing beats waking up at 4am in the summer and just listening to the Dawn chorus as you sip on a hot cup of tea. He’s just getting in practise.

Sound quality/editing on these vlogs is outstanding 👍

Good on you Vic, for everything you do while Jo is with William. 😊

I couldn't agree more. Wonderful parents.
Piaget is in the house. 👨🎓👍
William is just absolutely adorable, love seeing him and how he is growing. Everyone says when you have kids you make more friends.

Don’t worry it’s not just my husband that watches you we both watch together for some reason only his name comes up. I am Pennie. 😂
I always enjoy the shopping scenes, just to compare prices.

We remember those early mornings... loved the vlog & the curtains :)
William is so adorable that it would so difficult to ignore him , even at 4 am. Grandchildren can do no wrong . Lovely video x

William is the most engaging little boy. And so expressive!
William steals the show in this one, Well, he always does. Beautiful snow,
The joys of parenthood 4am starts. Bollington looks like a nice base. Your ingenuity on making curtains was great. Take care. Nick
I have no desire to even see snow.
But it's worth it just to see William.
Always makes me smile.
Thanks for sharing.
You guys always bouy me up with your optimism and enthusiasm .Thanks for always brightening my day.
4am. How depressing! I love the idea of being up before everyone else, but the reality is something else entirely. :D
That was such a pleasure to watch, had a nice relaxed flow to it. The beginning, with William, was just adorable x
At about 15:30, you say ... "boaters boatyard, but not all of them are like that ..."
Once again I am glad to say that " ... that is what makes the world go round!!"
You're a lovely family, love your positivity even when things get a bit tricky you have a sense of calm, and rustic is always a good way to go😃

Your curtains look like mine. Alright then. Like your new styles, William and Jo, Vic and Will, and all three together
I follow a few (lots) of vloggers on YT. Yours is the best, you guys nail it every time.
I love the early morning hours! Go William!
What a lovely little village, crisp snow and a chatty William. Take care. ❤
Thanks, guys, what a lovely few days you have had there even though the weather, to me, looks horrendous. All that white crunchy stuff that we never ever see down this way. It looks so cold. Not the best environment for me, I would have to visit in what you call Summer I think.

I do enjoy hearing Jo say “warm”, which she does seem to most weeks. Obviously likes being warm.
I love the way she says it too! Haha
Oh yes!! I remember those 4 am days! Now my granddaughter is doing it!! Thanks!!
"This is it's own climate."
I love that.
Can't imagine living on a narrowboat especially in the winter. We've had two canal boats which we used only a few times. It's not easy.
"going too gnarly" that sums up the ole Elsan :D
SWNS Interview “search youtube if you don’t know people!” Great stuff! Peace

4am, is the best time to start the day, William can work on my worksite any day! No napping 💤 now William, there’s work to do!
So funny! So peaceful. Bollington does itself proud.
Hello, love your content. The “hunt” for curtains was amazing. Would have been a good comedy sketch. Drop dead curtains made from drop cloths! Yay
Another enjoyable video, thanks!!!!
I love you guys! You bring me joy

Nice to see regular video's again from you guys, soon be spring and a bit warmer for you on your boat.

Living on a boat is very much like living in an RV during the winter. Good for you!
Saw the title and thought yes please. Having a really crappy day and this is perfect, thank you.
Happy early morning! Love Williams delighted noises and giggles.
Really enjoyed that..curtains - who would have thought.
Excellent video 🤩🧃👌
As always…delightful. Thanks!
“Hi” at in the morning, I love it ❤😂. William is growing so fast.
Lovely village views - some Christmas Card shots for sure.
William starred as per usual.
Curtains were an anti-climax
The trick with an omelette is to take the cooked filling and add it after the eggs have started to cook in the very hot oil/butter. ;-)
Nice curtains.
Years ago, staying in a friends RV with no curtains,
we put garbage bags up with masking tape.
They worked great,
& we had an awesome visit with our friends!
Very little light came in.
Smile, & enjoy life!😊
hi, just read an article about you 3 on Kent on line, i was so surprised to see three faces i knew on the news feed. Great reading
Great video, love the toilet bit. Made me laugh x
You are a Beautiful family, a joy to watch , 💕

Hello, from Kansas! A great, future orator practicing his speach!
now thats what i calls dumping down with snows.. we aint seen any snows this winter in Cardiff so disapointing
I love the quiet hours before morning light. I wish you could find a place to use as a base and fit into the community, yet maintain your traveling business. Hmmm????
I have been binge watching you this week and had a lovely time!
wish the US had those grocery prices ... 😮 Great video!
nice style on the canoe, kneeling, have to admit I rather like sitting, but it has something to do with my arthritis that I have had since childhood.
ACE VIDEO - God Bless you - Steve @ Rivers of Life Church Oxford UK
Wow, you can get the two wee boats together!
Jealous of your snow we've hardly had any in Yorkshire. William has turned into a proper chatterbox & early riser 😃👍
Nice to see you in Bollington, I live close by. It has been named as the best place for families. Just saying ...
Today I'm going to lay down on the floor and throw some random things behind my back. That really made me chuckle. Oh my, what a day! One of your best videos. William is an absolute darling!
I haven't seen snow since 1975 and I don't miss it one little bit. Enjoyed the video but
I smiled through your entire vlog.
I watched it twice to get my VJW fix. Joanna's cozy robe is wonderful. Adorable family!! Curtains 😆 were perfect! ! !
After exploring TH-cam monetization plan, I will not skip ads. Hope it help$ 😉 Hugs from Indiana, USA

brilliant episode!
I always look forward to your vlogs, beautiful family!
WE have the same with our Grandson (nearly 2) up early and bed early too. I am 64 and wifey 59 very on the go.
Great seeing you back in the canoe, you look so at home in it.
Excellent choice of music in this episode!
Great video. Just love watching and listening to William.
It's great to see you guys again and the videos give a great insight into your daily life. Very enjoyable.
