- We carved two paddles at our bushcraft camp for future canoe trips! This is the making of the second paddle, the first one we already showcased last winter. Lovely to see you guys. Working in the rain with paddle. Very neat, and spliting wood is much harder than you might think at first, well some wood are easier to split than other. Great work and nice video. Thanks.
Super carving, skill and patience with a healthy bit of self deprecating humour. If you're foraging take care with the shrooms we have a few interesting varieties this time of year.

'Are you pushing or pulling?' Sounds just like my girlfriend and I using my homemade folding bucksaw :D. I swear they never ever cut straight, even with a new blade! Perhaps it's just the operator(s)..

Why you didn't use dry wood instead of a heavier green wood?
That would have been our first choise, but at the time we would have access to that kind of wood on the land

Better be careful legally you need a felling licence to cut down even one tree in Ireland
Does this include invasive species?
Seems like everything fun is restricted in Ireland, no wonder they're driven to alcoholism.
So, you cut down a healthy reasonably mature Sycamore tree just so you could make a canoe paddle !!! it does not matter that Sycamore is non native to Ireland, the fact is that they are there and have been for hundreds of year's now, saying they are invasive does not justify killing a good healthy tree specimen just for a project carving of a paddle. Come on lads you call yourselves nature lovers then leave the trees alone.
Agree!, the tree should never been ringed in the natural container battle... Then making this paddle was just to make some of the wood usefull. Perhaps why I have always been reluctant showcasing this video before. Cheers, Julius
@@SmoothGefixt Thank you Julius, I will always argue about this so called invasive plant topic, iff a certain type of tree or plant has been growing there for hundreds of year's then it is no longer invasive, it has become native. All the very best to you both. Paul.
