WOW ! I have subscribed to RV Trip Wizard ever since we bought our coach 5 years ago and have shared how it works to several of our friends. I must say Sue, you have made one of the most through presentations of it that I have seen and saved me from having to do it. There are a few things I do different though. We live in Florida so if we're heading out west I figure it take s sus a week to get out there so we're making a lot of one night stops. I use the 3 ring distance circles (200, 250 & 300 miles) and use that to know where I need to look for campgrounds. I also use the multiple fuel warning to know where I should be planing for a fuel stop and then look for the closest T/A stop. I find that for traveling out west in the fall I need to plan our trips well in advance so I can be sure we have places to stay and they are reserved. When I have our entire trip planned and confirmed I export the trip to Excel. After I have it in Excel I see several columns I don't need so I delete those and add more column of info that I find more useful for myself and can even color code important 5things like our fuel stops etc. I would be more than happy to share that with you if you're interested. Have a GREAT trip to Alaska. Wish we were going with you guys as that's definitely a trip I don't want to attempt by ourselves. Again, what a great presentation Sue. Oh, another reason to be looking at the elevations is if you have an air mattress and driving up over the Continental Divide you need to know when to let about half the air out of the mattress (you can even ask Patrick about that LOL, I tease him about that all the time :-) ). I know of a few other people who have made that mistake as well. Mike
All VERY GOOD ADVANCED uses of Trip Wizard. Love the tip on deleting and adding columns to an "exported excel spreadsheet" for your use after printing it. I always tell folks the more you use the app, the more powerful the tool will become for you.
Great video, as usual, but this one was extra. I use RV Life and still picked up some new tips from Sue today. Now you need to make part 2 to demo how you travel/navigate the trip. That’d be especially helpful. Thanks a bunch, my TH-cam friends!
Thanks for the information! I can see how helpful RV Trip Wizard would be for someone just starting out. The distance radius tool would be very useful for route planning. Enjoyed the video, and learned a lot!
My husband uses it ALL the time for our trips! It is awesome. So easy to tweak your plans with it and not lose everything or have to start over. We even plan our fuel stops on it using the TSD app first to find the best price within a range we need to consider fuel. On a totally different note: We have a 2015 Ventana and I JUST noticed a couple months ago when I painted the end points of the minute and hour hands to more quickly see the time, and then decided to edge the 12, 3, 6 and 9 numbers as well, that there is Roman Numeral error!! Four is done as IIII instead of IV. Too funny!
Hi Sue, My wife Patty and I have been watching your channel every week since almost when you started. It was near the time we also started RVing back in 2018. Love the OJIM channel. I am posting here specifically because this segment on Trip Wizard popped up last night on TH-cam and I decided to watch it again. I have been using TW for two years and was ready to drop it because of various frustrations with it. Watching your instructional video above addressed some major frustrations I had making the TW system much more pleasurable for me to use. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this newer video. It helped me a lot!
Hi Husband of Patty 😁... this is Sue. Thanks for the compliment and glad I could make TW easier. Must be my teaching background... plus I made sure I did it slow. I'm following a video on how to do something else and like so many, it's too fast with a click here and I don't even know where the arrow is, ugh. I'm sure TW has even more great things about it that I'm not aware of. Thanks for watching!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I've been using Trip Wizard for about a year and thought I knew it pretty well but I definitely learned several new things from your video. I had my computer and Trip Wizard going and working right with you. Thanks again for your always well done content!
We use RV Life but haven’t been on any long trips yet. Your explanation was very helpful. Slow and clearly explained just like a good teacher. Thank you!
Great video, Sue. We use RV Trip Wizard all the time. In my book, any video that teaches me something new is worth watching. I learned some new features of Trip Wizard from this video making it well worth my time to watch it. Thank you!
Okay I see that I am late to the party - but I have to add to the comments - Sue your presentation on how to use Trip Wizard was the best I have ever seen. It is funny how I really needed this video right now. Our trip was interrupted with an unexpected Rv repair need. (thanks OJIM on the review of NIRVC we are spending the weekend in Surprise AZ waiting for the Warranty Company Inspection so we can get it paid for) Now we need new travel plans and reservations and I was struggling with Trip Wizard. I thought I will not use this app again!!!! After watching your video I got back on the laptop and made some adjustments to our settings and preferences and things are starting to come together. Once again Our Journey in Myles saved our day. Thank you!!
That is awesome to hear. I trust you will have a great experience at NIRVC Surprise. If things don't, make sure to share your feelings with them right away, and trust me, they will step up to the plate and make things right.
We’ve found that rarely RV Trip Wizard is inaccurate with regard to rest area locations. It has told us there was a rest area where there wasn’t. We always let them know when this happens so they can update their database. Also, when planning stops at rest areas on freeways, it can be difficult to determine whether the rest area is on your side of the freeway or the other side. Other than that, we find it to be the best planning tool available for us.
Haven't found a rest stop app that is worth having yet - was hopeful with trip wizard. Have you noticed if they've ever updated their database after you've sent a correction?
We have only sent Harvest Hosts updated (missing) info. They added it in right away. We never sent RV Trip Wizard anything that I am aware of. We plan our rest stops in real time with Google Maps along the way. When traveling in the rig, Sue has Garmin, Trip Wizard, Google Maps and some RV Truckers App going at the same time. I follow what she says. I ONLY CONCENTRATE ON DRIVING, and do not have any more bandwidth in my brain to help navigate. We are a team.
We agree. Some folks have been scared away by the learning curve. But doing it by hand with pencil & paper is just pure torture for us now that we use RV Trip Wizard.
We really enjoyed this video. We've been using RV Life Trip Wizard for a few years and learned some stuff we didn't know - the measuring distance on Google Maps was the best one.
Glad it was helpful! We truly don't know how folks traveled as easy as we do now when they didn't have Trip Wizard! I can't begin to fathom the work, and mistakes in planning! Sue worked hard on this video. She will like reading your comment.
Not too busy to have dinner with you guys before you leave. I’m babysitting but we can do dinner at perhaps Hollander’s. At about 6 pm?… work out the details w Mark?😊
Glad you enjoyed it J. Sue worked hard at this so she could show folks it really is an awesome program to use if you put in a little time to learn it! If it was too easy, it wouldn't have the advanced power and functionality it has,...
Our pleasure Yves! Once you get good at using this software, you are going to see there is none better! We can't imagine traveling without this travel planning tool. We do not navigate with it,.....we use Garmin and Google Maps for that.
Thank you so much for all your hard work with your videos. I've watched several and came back to this one to use your affiliate link to purchase RV Life Trip Wizard. You guys do a great job recording and are so detailed. It is much appreciated. Happy Trails.
Awesome, thank you Julie! Sue did an awesome job with that video. She is way more patient when it comes to teaching because that is what she retired from. Sue, was a High School of the Arts Instructor with a Masters Degree! Thanks for helping to support of video production.
THANK YOU! This was worth every minute of my time. We are about to retire and spend lots of time in our RV next year. Looking forward to using the App.
I’ve used RVTripwizard for several years; the only negative comment I would make is quite a bit of information is membership generated. For example, we live in FL and want to visit every State Park. Florida publishes a list but when we compare the list to what is on RVTripwizard we see missing State Parks and Parks designated as State Parks but are not listed on the State’s list. I would like to see the ability to change icons on places I’ve visited and want to remember. Right now there is only one option and that is to change it to a heart.
Sue showed in the video how to alert RV Trip Wizard to updates or changes that they should make. A database this complex really benefits from folks helping to hone the system into shape collectively! We never use the heart icon because we create each travel plan from scratch when needed.
@@OurJourneyInMyles Fully understand and I am aware of how to make suggestions to RVTW for changes/updates. Regarding the Heart Icon, we only use it in our Home State for a visual reference to the State Parks we've visited. As for future trips, we make it a point to give solid reviews to all Parks we stay at. Obviously, at times we've not had the best experience (Park run down, etc.) and having an ability for us to change the ICON to something other than a heart to reflect perhaps a bad experience, helps us not make the same mistake twice.
@@chaosncheckt9356 Wow,.........I did not think of that! And icon that would flag "Do Not Stay Again" would be helpful for recurring routes a person uses infrequently!
Glad you like them! We love Trip Wizard, and can't imagine the chaos planning a long vacation without this awesome tool. It is the only way to stay organized.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. We rely on RV Trip Wizard so much, and have gotten so comfortable using it, we put in "fake trips real quick" to help us make decisions about travel before we get too far along invested financially & emotionally in a possible plan!
Glad we could help! This was one of those videos that Sue felt she absolutely needed to do for folks. We LOVE RV Trip Wizard, and can't imagine not using this fantastic travel route and campground planning tool. A person just needs to decides that they want to have all the advantages everyone else is telling them they will get once they get past the learning curve!
Thank you Sue and Mark! This sounds and looks like it’s good to use. It helps you find campgrounds and more that great! I like that. Can you imagine if we didn’t have any of this GPS Rv Trip Wizard. And we just the old way the maps. That was so hard to always open those up and then refold them. I’m glad this trip wizard works good! Thank you again and safe travels
Great learning video. Thanks for not rushing through it like the training video offered by the company. That one was way too fast. I just joined Trip Wizard so still learning how to use it. Thank you!
Great video! Thank you very much! I don't have a coach yet, but hopefully I will fairly soon and I will certainly be using the trip wizard. Thanks again.
Just found you as I was looking for help on trip wizard. Excited to start following you. (We're originally from Milwaukee) This video was so helpful! Thanks!
We use TW app too, but the way you explained it was so beneficial because we’ve learnt so many other tips we weren’t aware of. I think this is the only Trip Wizard video that I actually watched and understood😀 Thank you Sue. Glad you made this vid👍☀️🤗
This comment warms our heart. We LOVE this app, and can't imagine doing it the old fashioned way with books, and maps, and hand written notes. We are spoiled,........but want to get the word our to folks that they need this tool if they are travelers. Even my son, who only travels 3 hours or less from home on weekend jaunts found the campground search function awesome.
@@OurJourneyInMyles Thank you for your sweet reply, Sue. I use the Allstays app but my hubby uses the Trip Wizard. Somehow he could never convince me to try it. Maybe because I found it too cumbersome in the beginning but now after seeing your video I’m convinced, lol. Sue, you did such a great job presenting it. You’d be a great saleswoman, lol. You have such pleasant disposition. I watch some other YT videos on TW and I didn’t last, but your video drew my attention. Anyway, again, thanks for doing this video and if you guys are on the way to AK keep warm and have a great trip☀️
Glad it was helpful Jim! As we make these trips up, only to change them as we get ready to leave on it, and even during the trip, we LOVE being able to stay organized. We NAVIGATE with Garmin and Google Maps. We PLAN and research places to stay with RV Life Trip Wizard.
We never have,........we really have no master plan,..........we just string a bunch of places together! The end destination starts the trip, and we wing it from there. We keep a book organized by states,..........and when we see we will be traveling thru "Georgia" for instance, we pull out the book, and see what we should stop for along the way! We want other TH-cam Channels too,.........and when Keep Your Daydream or Changing Lanes or Today Is Someday goes somewhere we want to go to, we record it in the book for future reference!
Thanks for discount code😊 Found your video very helpful. went out and found help by googling few questions; because you were doing such long trip planning that took you longer to get to couple of things I needed to learn.
Hey guys, Margaritaville is awesome in Pigeon Forge, also The Ridge is very nice. I am 45 min from there and stay at both in my Foretravel Realm. Hopefully I run into you guys!
Good overview. You reminded me of a few features that I don’t normally use in the app. Thank you! (Also was fun that you used Indianapolis in your example since that is where we live!)
Very well presented Sue! One other option I was reminded of when Mark showed the calendar your friend was using for Alaska....there are several options on reports that you can generate. We use it to send to family, friends for their information - or our travel buddies so we are working off the same page. I learned some new things - appreciated the video.
I’ve learned so much about TW watching your videos Sue. We are also harvest host members. I don’t see harvest host under the filter for Brands, Clubs & Memberships. Is there a way to sync the two map systems together? I would love to be able to see campgrounds and Harvest Host on my Trip Planning Route. A huge thank you to both you and Mark for all you do for us.
The Harvest Host location map is not integrated at this time. We just have both apps open,...........search for a HH location in the HH App,........and when we find one,........ we go to the Trip Wizard App,.......and type in the "proper name" of the establishment. Trip Wizard will then find the location, and you can add that "Custom Stop" to your route. After you do this a few times it's easy as pie.
Great review Sue! Question, once you plan the trip in RV trip wizard, how far in advance do you make all the reservations at campgrounds, harvest hosts, etc.? Or do you make reservations the day of arrival?
This is Mark. A plan for a trip or route might take a few days or week to complete at our leisure. Typically, the only dates we reserve are the ones that are hard to get, and may have a date set in stone. These locations are kind of the "anchor" of the entire plan. Once the "anchors" are in place, and we had more time to look at things to do and see in an area, we may play around with the assigned days. When we did as much as would could do up front, then we finally book them all. The 44 foot length and 50 amp FHU required for our rigs makes "winging it" too stressful and unworkable. We like to travel only 44 hours (about 250 miles) per day. We LIVE in an RV,........we don't look it as we have to pile on miles. We just happen to move around.
Thank you so much for the informative video. We also have 3 rigs going to Alaska in 2024 and have been looking at this to help with the planning. We have a couple of fall trips we thought we could "practice" planning on. One out of 6 of us (me) still works so not full time yet! Maybe we will see you there. :)
Glad it was helpful! We have decided to NOT go to Alaska. The $10k in fuel costs we would have burned we will use to pay for the replacement black/gray/freshwater tanks. We will travel in the USA only this coming summer!
Thanks for the visit! This is Mark,.........I think Sue was super patient, and wanted to show folks that if they can learn the basics and start using RVTW, they will soon wonder how they ever planned trips the old fashioned way,......
Loving your tutorial video for RV Trip Wizard. Thank you so much! We are Harvest Hosts/ Boondockers Welcome members and want to make sure that those stops are added as possible stops along with the other options. Is that possible to add? Thanks
The RV Trip Wizard map will find what ever correct, documented address or business name it has in its "Map Provider" data base. If all else fails, you can even put in GPS co-ordinates if I am not mistaken. Not sure if you can call RV Trip Wizard and request a form to fill out to have a destination added. It may be worth a call for you!
In the pen, edit function, we change the "Stop Name", adding arrival date and number of nights. then we periodically scroll through the left panel to make sure our added date matches what is above the stop name in that left panel. e.g. "Travelers World RV Resort (May 3 two nights)". We book far in advance and sometimes changes cause dates not to match up.
Hello. Under "filters," specifically fuel stops, does RV Trip Wizard have an option to find fuel stations that accommodate big rigs and/or have a trucking areas for refueling? We find there can be many regular fuel stations that support truckers but aren't technically listed as truck stops. We have the Open Roads fuel card but many regular stations have cheaper diesel fuel than the big truck stops like Love, Pilot, etc. This feature would be so nice to have so we're not relegated to the big truck stops for refueling.
I do not think they have a filter like this in RV Trip Wizard. We put a lot of value in not having to worry about whether or not it will be "easy in, easy out". I have seen way too many RV's in the body shops of all the repair places we visit that have refueling mishaps! Google satellite view for each stop is your task at hand for each of those stops to save money!
No. Sue uses Garmin, RV Trip Wizard, Allstays Trucks and Travel and Google Maps. We NEVER trust just one device,.....a few of them have to agree with Sues experience. I defer all route decisions to her. If she is wrong, it's just treated as a new adventure.
Just watched this several times and tried to search through comments ... what do you have to do to get "Memberships & Preferences" tab to appear in the Default Settings? I have looked through the Trip Wizard Q&A's, and messaged them but have not got a clear, step by step answer. Do you know? Thanks, great effort and informative video.
@@OurJourneyInMyles Thanks, I'd watched that before. In the tutorial, the tab is already showing in the default screen. It isn't showing on mine, so I guess I have to do something somewhere else in order for that tab to go "live". I noticed others have voiced this same question, but there were no answers/responses to them.
The planning part was well explained, but what about the booking process? Does RV Wizard at least let you mark which nights have been booked/confirmed? Got to imagine it can be a challenge on long trips remembering. Thank you.
We talked about only a tiny fraction of everything the program can do for you. When you actually have a plan like the one we showed with the MAP being displayed with the left hand table of stops, you can also chose to display, print out, send or export excel files of your trip. On these pages is all the Campground Info, addresses, phone numbers, etc. On these sheets, once you call and make a reservation, you can mark each one off on that list!
Hi Sue, Thank you for the Trip Wizard tutorial. Do you know if there is a place to “like” or “dislike” a campground just for your own personal viewing when planning the next trip? Thank you Ps...we wish we could run into you and Mark sometime, would love to meet in person!
Thanks for checking out the tutorial. I do not remember ever seeing anything like that. Once you get good at using the software, you will get really good at blasting thru the choices at each area you will be stopping at, and will temporarily "remember" the ones you already looked at. That is why I will assemble a trip as I look, if I'm not sure on a place, I will "add it to the trip" just to hold its name and position in the list on the left hand column. You can always delete the multiple choices at each stop that may only a few miles apart. Eventually you will just end up with your final choice that you were able to book based on availability!
I have seen two other people review this, was not real impressed. Thank you Sue you did a much better review and explanation. I have software I use but this looks like it could be easier and better. You have convinced me to try it next time we do a trip. FYI Big Truck Big Travels are already in Alaska if you want to get weather and fire updates. Hope you are enjoying Milwaukee, did you get Marc to Polish fest last weekend? Use to eat way to much at that years ago. Stay safe and healthy.
Thanks so much for the tutorial and the 25% discount! I’m looking forward to learning and using RV Life. By any chance is there a way to set RV friendly fuels stops within the Miscellaneous Gas Stops? Often we travel in areas where the large truck stops are for fueling up Diesel. Thanks again!
Hey buddy,.......We DO NOT have any experience with how well RV Trip Wizard handles fuel stops. Since we use the Open Roads Diesel App to find our qualifying stops along the way, we just interrupt our trip as needed. WE do the VETTING of whether or not the station is an acceptable stop for us via looking at the satellite view ourselves. Hopefully other viewers with GASOLINE FUELING experience and possible tips for you can chime in as a community and help you!
To be honest, we do not use the RV Trip Wizard Navigation part. It is available on the phone app. You open the app up, find your trip that you built and open it up, and start to navigate. We use the Trip Wizard for PLANNING and ORGANIZING and FINDING and RESEARCHING and REORDERING our stays and TRAVEL route. We use it to SHARE and PRINT OUT our stays and RV PARK RESERVATIONS. Once we have that, Sue uses our Portable Garmin, RV Trip Wizard, Allstays Trucks and Travel App and Google Maps. We NEVER trust just one device,.....a few of them have to agree with Sues experience. I defer all route decisions to her. If she is wrong, it's just treated as a new adventure!
Awesome video. Thank you. Does the Trip Wizard link to all my devices? I usually plan on my home computer, then take my laptop, and of course have the ability to look at the ipad while driving.
Yes it does! You have to remember that the routing "navigation" part of it working in real time as your driving has to be on a device with a GPS chip in it. An ipad that cannot accept a cellular provider and is just WiFi would be able to have the real time Navigation work. We use it on all our devices.
Enjoyed this video ( and all your others) . Question : in planning the trip(s) , when you chose a Campground/place to stay, when are you confirming site availability ? Do you wind up editing /changing your trip layout alot? Not sure if I missed and how you handle where you would like to stay vs where are you confirmed to stay.
I usually just build the trip exactly like I want it, and will only check on availability if the CG is "the only game in town" in the area I am passing thru.(Don't want to invest too much time in a plan that CAN'T work.) Yes,.....changes WILL happen once you start booking for real. TW makes it easy to move stays and delete them, etc. Once I have my plan and the dates, I use the Trip Wizard app to get me to the CG Website, and I print out the sites phone number and location. All these sheets go in a three ring binder. The CG stays are all penciled in on a "Master Monthly Minder" Calendar. When they are booked for real, I put a check mark on the Monthly Minder Penciled in stay, and check mark the Penciled in dates of the stay on the CG website page I printed out for the three ring binder. Using all these steps has prevented many mistakes along the way!
Stupid question time! Once you have your trip pretty much locked in, do you need the internet along the way of the journey? So far we have not used anything other than our phones for further information on our trips. Thanks, Mike
The RV Trip Wizard software will show you all the Lodges that have RV Parks. I do not know the percentage, but it seems like they all accept a few RVs if their parking area is large enough. In St Augustine FL for instance, the Lodge has like 12 spots with FHU and you can stay 14 days. That is rare though,....... Yes, as a member you have access to all lodges.
We are using iPhones and iPads, we were told this app doesn’t support those/not designed for them, it works better with PC. Is that what you are using? If so, what are you using please? Thank you
We personally use it on our laptop/ipad/desktop for PLANNING our route, finding places to stay at, and organizing the campground stays. We DO NOT use it it real time while navigating. Sue uses Garmin, Allstays Truck & Travel and Google Maps all at the same time for real time navigating. We DO NOT use the Rand McNally in the rig dash unit. I just drive,.......Sue looks at all the screens and makes all the decisions.
No. We use the RV Trip Wizard for finding stops, planning and organizing. When we travel, each days START Location and END LOCATION is put into our RV1095 Garmin. Sue juggles Google Maps, Garmin and Trip Wizard as we travel while I drive. Sues PRIMARY source of travel guiding is Trip Wizard/Garmin because they have our RV Height and Weight Specified.
Thanks for the video and discount code. I am looking around on the site and it doesn't look like it shows you attractions like Grand Canyon or anything of interest on your route, is there a way to change that?
Sue here..... They do have a POI tab under the Research tab on the right which is good for museums, pet stores, hospitals etc. Apparently RVLTW doesn't have a "Tourist Attraction" POI capability in place yet, hopefully in the future? 🤷♀️ Here's a thread on iRV2.com that really answers your question. www.irv2.com/forums/f287/help-finding-pois-with-rv-tripwizard-588301.html RVLTW is Awesome for trip planning but there's Roadtrippers which people say they use expressly for the wealth of points of interest. Once again iRV2.com comes to the rescue and has a lot of answers. It is a great resource! Good luck with your plans. And thanks for using our discount code 👍
@@OurJourneyInMyles think that is the other site I looking at last night. With so many resources, it is nice having experienced people helping you hone in on the good stuff. Thank you.
You would have to use the GPS built into the device and the App itself. We use RV Trip Wizard for planning and organization. We follow the TW route. But we DO NOT use it for GPS tracking and navigation. We use Garmin and Google Maps.
Can you help me ? I use Trip Wizard and I use to at one time have these green circles with the like chevron in it. I could click on this and it would show a RV park and I could get details. Now for some reason I do not know if I click on the green round symbol it only zooms in on that area and does not show a RV park. What have I done wrong ? Jeff
We just tried ours and it works fine just as you stated yours used to. I would first fully shut down your laptop or computer and then do a full restart. See if that does the trick. Additionally, make certain your RV Life Trip Wizard Subscription did not lapse. Other than that, if it still doesn't work, you are going to have to give them a call. I have my fingers crossed for you!
This is Mark. Sue does NOT use Trip Wizard to navigate in real time. We use it as a planner and organizer for all our CG info. When traveling, Sue is using Garmin, Google Maps and a truckers app. The Open Roads Fuel Discount phone app finds the fuel stop "on the fly, on the route" when I need a break to stop. She will then add it as a intermediate stop in google maps so we don't miss our turn. Sue only adds a fuel stop in right from the start when there isn't much to pick from, or only one opportunity for our preferred brand,.....T/A.
@@OurJourneyInMyles- thank you, Mark. I didn’t mean to say the planning was ”on the fly”. I meant a month or two or more in advance. We’re planning our first big trip and I like preparation. So, in and among the layovers, about every 400 miles on our route, I’ve opened Open Roads and looked for the next fuel and added a fuel stop. Probably overkill but these are all unknowns that I’d like to be as prepared for as possible. It’s tedious and, not learning about that made me wonder if those were added in later.
Yes. This tool is for FINDING and DOCUMENTING and ORGANIZING your route & campground stays. The actual process to reserve the campground must be done manually with a call or using the campgrounds online reservation system online.
We treat Trip Wizard as out organizer and master Campground and destination planner. We do not import our Trip Wizard trip into the Garmin. I find it easier for us just to put the address or name of our next destination into Garmin after we have already planned our trip in Trip Wizard. I like to compare their routes since they are both set up for our length, weight and height. Usually, they are alike but when there are some differences, I'll look at them and choose the one I'm comfortable with. This channel (th-cam.com/video/TgFLv3aD9uI/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=RiversToRidgesRV) did a video on how to import from Trip Wizard to Garmin. It just seems like a lot of steps compared to just typing in our next destination. However, I have not tried to import so maybe I'm wrong. We like keeping it simple, and taking things in small bites. You can add waypoints to your Garmin trip. Choose where you want to go and it will ask if you want to Add to Active Route, Start a New Route, Add as Next Stop or Add as Last stop.

Yes. The Free App you always download from the Apple Store. The program you want is of course the RV Trip Wizard portion of the App that costs money. We bought Trip Wizard First and downloaded the app later. Don't know if our coupon code works in the app store to be honest. I have heard it is always best to deal direct with the third part company first, THEN get the app. Trying to cancel with Apple involved is a little more complex.

don't know if you monitor this or not but I have a question since there is no place to get in contact with RV Life trip wizard on their website. my question: if you do the trip on a computer does it also sync with your phone app?
So I joined but it won't let me do the filters. It also says after the first month it will go back up to the normal price. Otherwise I guess they no long honor the grandfather price.
This is Sue...If you signed up for a month, it does go up to the normal price after a month. If you sign up for a year, it goes up to the price it was when you signed up, right now I think it's $65 per year. I use my laptop for planning. On the right you'll see the research tab, open to see the filters. Turn the filters on by clicking the Filters on the top right of the page. Hope this helps.... I tried attaching images to show but couldn't. You can email me at ourjourneyinmyles@gmail.com

Extraordinarily well presented introduction to RV Trip Wizard. Thanks for all your time and efforts! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, as usual, but this one was extra. I use RV Life and still picked up some new tips from Sue today. Now you need to make part 2 to demo how you travel/navigate the trip. That’d be especially helpful. Thanks a bunch, my TH-cam friends!
Glad it was helpful FTM!
Thanks for the information! I can see how helpful RV Trip Wizard would be for someone just starting out. The distance radius tool would be very useful for route planning. Enjoyed the video, and learned a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
Too funny!
Aren't you glad they got the 12 right!
My friend has a clock like that. It drives me crazy every time I see it
Hi Sue, My wife Patty and I have been watching your channel every week since almost when you started.
Sue, what a phenomenal video!
I could tell the amount of work Sue put in. I used to lecture frequently and the prep took at least three times longer than the presentation.
You can say that again. She had 40 hours in it!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I've been using Trip Wizard for about a year and thought I knew it pretty well but I definitely learned several new things from your video. I had my computer and Trip Wizard going and working right with you. Thanks again for your always well done content!
Glad it helped! This is Mark. When I watched it with Sue to Proof Read & Review, I learned a number of things as well!
On my, that’s was very informative. I’m definitely getting that for trip planning! Thanks for the lesson on how to use it.
Glad it was helpful!
This was AMAZING! Thank you so much for doing this video.
You are so welcome! Sue loved reading your comment. She was an ex-art teacher. Teachers love students that love to learn!
Get job explaining RV wizard!
Thanks Wayne,....
Wont be RVing or lg distance drivin but ya get a smiley face and thumbs up.😂
Thanks Medium Sized Gair!
We use RV Life but haven’t been on any long trips yet. Your explanation was very helpful. Slow and clearly explained just like a good teacher. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind comment James!
Great video, Sue. We use RV Trip Wizard all the time. In my book, any video that teaches me something new is worth watching. I learned some new features of Trip Wizard from this video making it well worth my time to watch it. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing Jim! Sue did a great job,......and trust me,......she worked on it a long time.
We love the App,.........and the power and confidence it gives use to plan and stay organized.
I absolutely love this program. It’s a must have for any rv, travel trailer or tent camper!
We agree. Some folks have been scared away by the learning curve. But doing it by hand with pencil & paper is just pure torture for us now that we use RV Trip Wizard.
1:42 Sue, this was the best presentation I’ve ever seen as well. Starting to plan next year. We r well. Hope you both are too. ❤
Thanks for watching Andrea,.........we are alive & well!
Sue, you did a great job of making the instructions for using the RV Life Trip Wizard clear and easy to follow. Thank you very much!!!
Glad it was helpful Serena,......I remember how it was in the old days,.........surprises every few days that you didn't want!
Great Video, very informative, Thanks !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Best video I have seen concerning how to use trip Wizard. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! I read your comment to Sue,....thanks!
Weve had RV life for about a year and had no idea how much we didnt know about. Thank you for the thorough presentation.
Glad it was helpful! We had no idea how well received this video would be for folks. Sue did an awesome job on this!
Excellent tutorial!! You guys are busy over there on the first row! :)
Not too busy to have dinner with you guys before you leave. I’m babysitting but we can do dinner at perhaps Hollander’s. At about 6 pm?… work out the details w Mark?😊

Wrong email. This is Mark,.....Send me your email address to: ourjourneyinmyles@gmail.com
This is the best comprehensible tutorial of Trip Wizard, I was about to throw in the towel.
We can't imagine planning any amount of complex traveling without this organizational & navigating tool.
I'm glad I made popcorn before sitting down to watch 😂..Love all the detail and effort Sue put in to this episode. Thanks OJM
Glad you enjoyed it J. Sue worked hard at this so she could show folks it really is an awesome program to use if you put in a little time to learn it! If it was too easy, it wouldn't have the advanced power and functionality it has,...
Thanks for the discount and the tutorial...much appreciated from Quebec Canada !
Wasn’t convinced by Trip Wizard’s info video, it was a pass. You have convinced me, thank- you. I will sign through your link.
Wow! Thank you Karen. Your kind comment is "Music to the Ears" of a retired High School of the Arts Teacher!
Thanks Sue! I learned extra tips about using RV Life that I wasn’t aware of!
Glad it was helpful guys! I even learned a few things making the video.
In Louisville I have been through the Ford Explorer and Super Duty plants. Super Duty plant is like a city in itself.
I absolutely have to go there!!!!
THANK YOU! This was worth every minute of my time. We are about to retire and spend lots of time in our RV next year. Looking forward to using the App.
Glad it was helpful! Invest the small amount of time to learn this program,......it will be your favorite before long!
Great video guys, Sue you made it look so easy. Mark a Alaska trip???…. Safe travels my friends…
Yes,........it's a dream we are working on making a reality.
I have used TW for years but I picked up some good features I didn’t know about. Thank you! Enjoy your videos.
Glad you like them! We love Trip Wizard, and can't imagine the chaos planning a long vacation without this awesome tool. It is the only way to stay organized.
I've watched this multiple times while learning Trip wizard. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Sue's "teacher skills" were definitely on display!
Always informative and well presented.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. We rely on RV Trip Wizard so much, and have gotten so comfortable using it, we put in "fake trips real quick" to help us make decisions about travel before we get too far along invested financially & emotionally in a possible plan!
Thank you so much for this video. I had a lot of trouble figuring it out on my own. So glad I found you. Now I’m a subscriber 🤗
Our pleasure!
Great learning video. Thanks for not rushing through it like the training video offered by the company. That one was way too fast. I just joined Trip Wizard so still learning how to use it. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful Tina!
Great video! Thank you very much! I don't have a coach yet, but hopefully I will fairly soon and I will certainly be using the trip wizard. Thanks again.
Glad it was helpful! Best luck with your plans to get on the road,.....
Just found you as I was looking for help on trip wizard. Excited to start following you. (We're originally from Milwaukee) This video was so helpful! Thanks!
Welcome aboard! When I reviewed this video that Sue did, I could tell she had been a teacher! I have given her a pat on the back every day since then!
Love TripWizard. Learned a few more tricks - thanks
That is wonderful to hear,.....
Thank you thank you so much Sue. You explained it in very easy to understand way. Now I can 49:08 start planning
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to create this!!
Glad it was helpful! Once over the learning curve hump, you will wonder how you ever survived without Trip Wizard!
Fantastic video! We love watching you two! We are just getting started and this was super helpful! Signing up now! Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
We really appreciate this excellent review - learned a lot! Thank you
Glad it was helpful Jim! As we make these trips up, only to change them as we get ready to leave on it, and even during the trip, we LOVE being able to stay organized. We NAVIGATE with Garmin and Google Maps. We PLAN and research places to stay with RV Life Trip Wizard.
Thanks for an extraordinary presentation. I recently purchased and am working on a complex trip. This was helpful. Millie
Glad it was helpful! This is Mark,.......and I agree that Sue did a great job. It is obvious she was a teacher!
Great video Sue, thank you. Do you post any of your routes of past trips?
We never have,........we really have no master plan,..........we just string a bunch of places together! The end destination starts the trip, and we wing it from there. We keep a book organized by states,..........and when we see we will be traveling thru "Georgia" for instance, we pull out the book, and see what we should stop for along the way! We want other TH-cam Channels too,.........and when Keep Your Daydream or Changing Lanes or Today Is Someday goes somewhere we want to go to, we record it in the book for future reference!
Thanks for the overview Sue. We subscribed to it after meeting you and Mark at the Tampa RV Super show in Jan 2022. I use it for every trip.
That is awesome Ken!
Can you share your Alaska route? We are doing the Canadian Maritimes + NL this summer and RV Trip Wizard was a great tool to plan the trip
Yes,...........ask for it in about September. It is still FAR from correct!
I love your TH-cam Channel, very helpful and nice adventure !!! :)
Happy to hear that!
Thanks for discount code😊 Found your video very helpful. went out and found help by googling few questions; because you were doing such long trip planning that took you longer to get to couple of things I needed to learn.
Glad it was helpful Diana!
This looks great 😊. Thanks for sharing. 😊we just do weekends for now but maybe 🤔 down the road. Thanks From Wisconsin
Thanks for checking this program out!
Great video! I had issues using it. Now I know why! Thanks so much!
Glad it helped Carolyn!
Awesome job explaining, thanks.
We love to hear that the tutorial was helpful. Thank you for the encouragement.
Hey guys, Margaritaville is awesome in Pigeon Forge, also The Ridge is very nice. I am 45 min from there and stay at both in my Foretravel Realm. Hopefully I run into you guys!
Good to know! Not certain which park we will stay in when we go to Pigeon Forge. We are attending a Rally that is planned by others.
I gotcha, there is more to do than you can shake a stick at! Between PF and Gatlinburg you could have content for months:)
Good overview. You reminded me of a few features that I don’t normally use in the app. Thank you! (Also was fun that you used Indianapolis in your example since that is where we live!)
We are planning a few big trips right now, and can't imagine doing it without Trip Wizard!
Sue really well done! Thank you a learned a lot
Glad it was helpful Michael!
Very nice demo Sue!
Thanks so much Mark! Been wanting to make this video for over a year! Finally had the time,.....
Very well presented Sue! One other option I was reminded of when Mark showed the calendar your friend was using for Alaska....there are several options on reports that you can generate. We use it to send to family, friends for their information - or our travel buddies so we are working off the same page. I learned some new things - appreciated the video.
Thanks for sharing!! Yes we like to share the reports with others as well! Printing then out sometimes is quite handy,...
great job on video!
Thank you! This is Mark,.........I think Sue really did a thorough review & tutorial on TripWizard.
Very well done. Thanks.
Thanks for watching J! I made sure I read your comment to Sue! I watched her work very hard on making that video,......
Thanks Folks, I learn something new each time I watch !! I subscribed but didn't use the code !
Awesome, thank you!
You are going to love Alaska! We went last year, on our own, in our brand new DS…as the shakedown trip. 😂
Can't wait! How beat up did the paint job get? Any broken windshield on rig or toad?
Good video 😊
Thanks for the visit Stephen,.....
Great video
Thanks for the visit! This is Mark,.........I think Sue was super patient, and wanted to show folks that if they can learn the basics and start using RVTW, they will soon wonder how they ever planned trips the old fashioned way,......
Great info.
Glad it was helpful! Sue even learned a few things putting the video together!
Great tip. I find that the more I use it, the less afraid of pounding away at the software I become!
Good video learned a lot.
Has it ever led you a weird direction?
Try watching this video tutorial from Trip Wizard: th-cam.com/video/M6Cdhm-P5Js/w-d-xo.htmlsi=81Ic1-kmha2VvIZH. Info starts at around 7:02
Thank you
Ps...we wish we could run into you and Mark sometime, would love to meet in person!
Thanks for the kind comment. I dragged Mark up to see my family this weekend! To him, Polishfest is every day at lunch!
Excellent tutorial. Which trucker app do you use?

@@OurJourneyInMyles thank you for your reply. Happy Trails….
I may have missed it but do you plug your laptop into your rig to display the trip planner or into your smartphone
Question : in planning the trip(s) , when you chose a Campground/place to stay,
when are you confirming site availability ?
@@OurJourneyInMyles thanks so much for getting back to me.
I think this answered my question about booking! Thanks.
Stupid question time! Once you have your trip pretty much locked in, do you need the internet along the way of the journey? So far we have not used anything other than our phones for further information on our trips. Thanks, Mike
While you can view your saved trips without a cell service, navigating the trips with the RV Safe GPS will require you to have an internet connection.
Once you are an involved Elk you have access to all the lodges? Do most have RV sites?
The RV Trip Wizard software will show you all the Lodges that have RV Parks. I do not know the percentage, but it seems like they all accept a few RVs if their parking area is large enough. In St Augustine FL for instance, the Lodge has like 12 spots with FHU and you can stay 14 days. That is rare though,....... Yes, as a member you have access to all lodges.
@@OurJourneyInMyles Thank you for answering!
@@OurJourneyInMyles thank you for the reply, hope to meet you two in person on the road someday 😊
Hey all, not sure if I missed it and will probably look it up but once you have it planned out on the laptop do you send it to your phone. Thank you
@@OurJourneyInMyles Thanks, when I grow up I want to be like Mark. We hit FT on the road in January. You all stay safe lots of crazies out there
Thanks for the video and discount code.
Here's a thread on iRV2.com that really answers your question. www.irv2.com/forums/f287/help-finding-pois-with-rv-tripwizard-588301.html
RVLTW is Awesome for trip planning but there's Roadtrippers which people say they use expressly for the wealth of points of interest.
Thank you.
Can these trips/routes be downloaded to say a GPS or do you just use the GPS built into RV Life?
I saw you at the sites and the campgrounds but I didn’t see you at fuel stops. Does that happen automatically in the app or do you have to add them?
How does making the reservation work at the RV campsites? Do you make a separate call/email to reserve those spots?
Yes. This tool is for FINDING and DOCUMENTING and ORGANIZING your route & campground stays. The actual process to reserve the campground must be done manually with a call or using the campgrounds online reservation system online.
Ok. So you’ve got the route planned. Now, how do you get that in a form that you can actually navigate to? ie., Google Maps…..
How do I turn off the speed warnings? I accidentally turned it on and it’s driving me crazy lol
To Enable or Disable Speed Limit Reduction Alerts:
Open the device's Settings menu.
Touch Navigation.
Touch Driver Assistance.
Touch Audible Driver Alerts.
Touch the box next to Speed Limit Reduction. A checkmark indicates that the feature is enabled. ...
Touch OK.
Addendum, if we choose to purchase here using your promo code, will this work just as if I purchased from the App Store?
I’m getting ready to hit the RV Trip Wizard purchase. Is there still a Promo Code? Thanks.

don't know if you monitor this or not but I have a question since there is no place to get in contact with RV Life trip wizard on their website. my question: if you do the trip on a computer does it also sync with your phone app?
The computer trip you create does sync to the Phone app.
You obviously have to go through the RV Life app. on your phone.
