Oh damn. Thx for warning us about scratching your contents inside the bag. ISSUE: One of my lid snaps is now getting very loose after a year & half on my V3 EZ
I noticed the lids are different on EZ mounts, some have mentioned issues with the lids. I'd take it to a leather upholstery shop, they might repair it. Maybe reach out to LP
I just barely ordered these in leather...I had the Viking extra large Baldur, and the capacity just ain't what I know these will provide. I just hate the fact they don't lock, thinking I may just get a padlock for the zippers depending on how big the hole is.
That's soo true about the bag journey, going the same route you did with some cheap ones, then Viking, and now I'm looking hard at these. I currently have Viking Bags and made them look as clean as I could, can never get them close enough to the fender for the cleanest look and the mounts are just ugly. After going through the rain a few times the lids begin to curl too. These bags however, look like they will dry easy if caught or run through the rain and i'm sure can be covered or protected if need be, but I'm SoCal, so no worries. Thank you for the 1 year review! What is that seat? $$
Greetings from east bay, Fremont area. Right on. Thanks for your input and review. I'm installing mine today after waiting 11 weeks. For me, my concern would be the heating temps on the right side since I'm running a 2-2 exhaust setup (at this time). Not sure if the closeness of the top exhaust will heat up the material of the bags itself or any degradation will occur with time.
I haven't had any problems with my saddlebags. I did see some having problems with the lid buttons last year. The fixed that issue, but they've been making these bags for years. I wouldn't worry about it, they also have heat shields
^^ this, I noticed those heat-shields and thought that was what they were, very smart and thats probably what you're paying for as well, overall you get good storage, options, and extreme convenience/detach with what might be the cleanest look..
I have the ezmount retro bags and their great except for the snap on the leather cover. Me and those snaps have a love hate relationship, hard to get snapped, hard to open...like someone commented I've been tempted a couple of times to just take them off but I like they way they look...
I haven't had issues with the lids. Only at full capacity/extended was when I noticed some lid snapping issues. I keep them collapsed and have zero troubles with the lids. I don't know if they changed anything, I got mine from getlowered.com. I'd keep the lids on, or you could have them altered. I've seen Espinoza leather customizing these saddlebags.
I hate the leather it comes with it, I ripped it off ... Hate it .. Now I can easily put stuff there n take out.. It was a really huge pain when I went to Vegas n had the bags full .. The leather was almost impossible for it to close .. N sometimes it would get stuck ... Or when they un clicked n started flapping all over the place when riding.... Just couldn't deal with that no more.. Had to remove the Leather... But now its worth it!
That's what I noticed as well, when you have them completely expanded you could have some trouble with the top lid. I think the top lid makes them rain resistant, but they're definitely not weatherproof. I forgot to mentioned that in the video hehe.
Yea that's true! Over all besides the leather problem, I'd still say they are worth it cuz when it expands oh it really helps a lot when it comes down to it.
@@XxEmowolvexX I found them to be useful while getting groceries. Sometimes I'll miss calculate my capacity and I'll just expand them for extra storage. I like the slim down look over the wide bags, having the option for both is great 👍.
Yes. On the front of the bag by the seat. The EZ mounts don't have such gap on the front, if that's the case why not make these the same? They're being marketed as M8 Softail bags, not need for exterior shock gap. I'm over it now, kinda lol
They're easier to install and have better visibility with large LED lights. I have a video on installing strut lights, if you're avoiding the v3's because of the extra work. You also have moons tail light, which incorporates the signal lights into the brake light.
Does anyone know if there's an aftermarket company that makes black mounting hardware? I want the 4 mounting bolts sticking out of the rear fender struts to be black so they don't stick out as much when the bags are off the bike.
Could you get them power coated, I'm sure Leather Pros has a solution. Good chance Leather Pros have been asked for black hardware before, they could have an answer.

I can fit my 3/4 helmet, but I wouldn't store it in the bags if you wanna keep it scratch free. I would recommended a detachable sissy bar, or a luggage rack for a 2nd helmet transportation.
@@InfamousCreep thanks for replying sooner, i found a video where they have a helmet inside (th-cam.com/video/dO4DBk6oG1c/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=MarvelKid87) thank you for the tip.

Awesome video man! Just now buying some and looking forward to seeing and using them. Blessings 🙏
Is toss some felt fabric on that bolt to prevent damaging things being stored in the bag.
Or grind it with a sanding disc 👍

Great review, just grabbed these for my Street Bob. Stoked!
Congrats vato, these bags are worth the money. Probably the best I've owned so far.
Thanks for the in depth review, definitely looking forward to a set for myself in the near future.
They're great saddlebags, worth the money for sure.

Just bought mine! Can’t wait to get them
You're gonna love em, you'll have them just in time for spring!
Sick flannel the con is its unbuttoned...
Just bought some used ones for 275 haven’t mounted them but look crisp af
Nice!! 👍. Spray em with UV protection
I would suggest a light coat of gun cleaning oil to protect the hardware from the elements.
Good tip, another content creator was dealing with heavy rust.

Dude..YES! Have you found a fix for this? They are way too hard to open and definitely takes away for the enjoyment of owning them
@@masonpage9067 I ended up just putting a little grease on them and it helped a lot. Still not ideal but so much better.

Pro bolts
Did you spray them with anti UV?
I haven't, I wasn't aware of such thing. I just cover them up, the bike sits out in the sun for 9-10 hours. I'm going to search for the spray, thanks.

Nope, you could always use plastic bags inside the saddlebags.
is that a gringo helmet on the top left ?
Yes, it's a Gringo S.
