I ran into Nicky on his way back from this trip so I was very excited to see the results! Such a great concept and good quality video. As someone who has lived in Northern Norway for several years, and by default worked with Northern lights tours, Norway is the best location to see them, specially if you want to see them basically from your door step.
Funny thing is that they all went to Iceland, you can see Nicky and Izzy in the car clip (also assuming this is the same trip as the Iceland air comparison video). Anyway, Brilliant video guys! Would love to see more stuff like this in the future!
Even living in Norway, I think the plane seemed like a cool thing. Sad she didn’t actually see the northern lights though. I once saw it on bus from the airport :)
I saw them purely by chance in 1999 in Aberdeen (UK), and was also my 21st birthday, so always remember looking out of the window at university to see them for all of five minutes.
Think i was very lucky, in mid march a few years back, i was flying to New York, over or just south of Iceland on the last flight with Virgin and got to see the Northern Lights from my side of the aircraft. It was beatiful.
What a fantastically different trip. So creative. How’d you guys come up with that idea? I’ve always wanted to go to Norway or Lapland to see the northern lights. Bucket list plan includes taking the train from Helsinki to Santa. Now there is a trip you might consider.
I think something to think about for the Iceland and Norway northern lights is that usually a person won’t go specifically just to go see the northern lights but be on vacation there and see it
These are great fun videos haha very practical for future travellers Imagine if these guys do something bigger, like from London to Seoul Train vs Plane... but the plane dude has to take aeroflot
Such a cool way to see their various experiences. The UK option, though disappointing this time, could be great for people with mobility issues or time / budget constraints. So its good to know there's something for everyone.
I feel sad for Iceland getting those low scores 😔 I'm going to Iceland again in October for 10 days travelling around in a campervan which will give me freedom to choose wherever I want to be. You don't need to travel to Hotel Ranga to see the lights, you can see them from anywhere in Iceland, even Reykjavik when the activity is high.
I did the UK aurora viewing flight just before the pandemic. Great experience, we did get to see the lights but only faintly. Video on my channel, with link to the professional photos - they did point out, and came to pass, that regular cameras won't pick it up.
Land is best for the Northern Lights,or Southern Lights, provided you can get away from the light pollution. On planes the windows restrict how much you can see.Ships would be ok provided they turn the lighting off but they might say that they can't for safety reasons .
Lucky for me I live in northern Alberta, Canada so I can see the northern lights right outside of my house. Funny enough I actually live in a place called Northern Lights County lol
I have never saw the northern lights even though I went to lapland but we still didn't see them but I want to see them and even from where I live I've never saw them still.
Thank you for sharing your experience. @Nicky @Liam how long did you stay at the cruise/hotel Ranga as you got to see the Aurora? We plan to chase the lights in December 2022 in Norway. Could you please recommend us which tour companies are the best as there are so many of them. Thank you.
What month did you do this? We would love to try the cruise. I did it many years ago when I was 13 years old but it would be a totally different experience now. Thanks.
Hi team. Loved the video and the new idea of doing it. Looked great and certainly on our list. My only question, How much did it cost to do it your way Nicky? Thanks ☺️
It is not this time of the year I guess, there is no night (and no snow!) in Tromsø right now so the can’t be made in Summer. I presume it was in spring (maybe march) because it was already sunny again at 9 AM
Another excellent vlog,. wish I'd known about the HurtIgruten short cruise before we went on our Norway Cruise in March and never saw any Lights 😞. What date was your trip?
Well there was night and snow in Tromsø so it must have been in the winter. I guess it’s around February maybe? I suggest to do it between November and march, otherwise your chances of seeing the northern lights get smaller every day as the nights get smaller until they fully vanish towards the summer. If you want to see them in the Southern Hemisphere it is obviously the other way round…
It depends where you are and how strong the storm. In higher latitudes such as arctic circle etc they can be viewed even in bright colors with the naked eye some of the time. At lower latitudes with a really strong storm they can be seen in bright colors. I'm in central Minnesota, to me a strong storm is usually gray or whitish, sometimes tinged with color, green being the most common. But when they're really dancing, it's still a magnificent sight to see even without bright colors!
I did see bright colors once from within a major city in central Minnesota, but that storm was so strong the lights were visible as far south as Texas!
There are faults in this video: 1) The video did not mention when this trip was made (what month was this?) 2) The video did not mention the cost of the cruise 🚢 3) The video did not warn that if you want to take photos of the Northern Lights, your camera needs to be still. I give the video 5 out of 10
You need a lot of time. I've lived in Alaska for 15 years, we have an outdoor hot tub and watch the Geophysical Institute Aurora forecast closely. The tub is ready whenever the lights decide to show. It might be spectacular for 20 minutes, you go out in the tub and they fade for 2 hours, then you leave the tub and they come back strong. It might be a record forecast but it's cloudy or snowing. On that one night when everything is perfect, the girls from the strip club can't do a private show. My poor husband...
And the moral of this video: Take like 10-20k GBP from your company budget and get one really good camera. Expect the size of extra airplane baggage... Like a RED cam with gimbals...

Ahh Jan 30th :)
It’s nice to see Nicky’s mother in a video. What a lovely bonding experience!
The Northern Lights are wonderful! Thank you for creatively putting this together and showing us!
It’s always nice to see Liam and Nicky in a new video and THAT TOO IN THE NORTHERN LIGHTS 🔥
10:02 Liam! 😍
Funny thing is that they all went to Iceland, you can see Nicky and Izzy in the car clip (also assuming this is the same trip as the Iceland air comparison video). Anyway, Brilliant video guys! Would love to see more stuff like this in the future!
That Ship Cabin is so cozy and cute.
Thank you Nicky for another great watch

Iceland is so underrated and beautiful 🤩
Is this video inspired by Jean Arnas’ video about the northern lights?
Hotel Ranga is so cool! Great choice, Liam!
The best of the beast!
You can see the Northern Lights from a bloody hot tub, That is a awesome quote. Nice video and the Northern Lights was really impressive. Thanks
Best video of The points guy Uk ever💥🤩🔥!!!
OMG what a sight the northern lights are!!!
I saw them purely by chance in 1999 in Aberdeen (UK), and was also my 21st birthday, so always remember looking out of the window at university to see them for all of five minutes.

What a creative and cool idea, would love to see more videos like these. Cruise ship fan here, so the Hurtigruten was the winner for me!

Awesome video! The northern lights are definitely on my bucket list. Glad you showed what options I got!
Finally you mentioned Norway
The other day when I was boarding my virgin Atlantic flight I noticed at the side of the door some logos and yours was one of them
Love your videos so different to other types of reviews videos. Keep up the good work.
Definitely a Bucket List item. Nicky shirtless is always a plus... 🙂

Lucky for me I live in northern Alberta, Canada so I can see the northern lights right outside of my house. Funny enough I actually live in a place called Northern Lights County lol
Props to the editor for the little graphics in the lower left corner!

Mind giving us a link for info on the ferry ??! I’m only finding wildly expensive week long excursion cruises. Thanks ! B
Wait a damn minute, Liam stayed at Hotel Ranga. I was just in Iceland!
What month did you do this? We would love to try the cruise. I did it many years ago when I was 13 years old but it would be a totally different experience now. Thanks.
I cannot compute -20 degrees Celsius.

Hi team. Loved the video and the new idea of doing it. Looked great and certainly on our list.
My only question, How much did it cost to do it your way Nicky?
Thanks ☺️

I feel it would be nice if you can add the travel date either in the video or the description so we can use your videos as travel inspiration

Waiting for AIR INDIA

How about the Southern lights? A bunch of anime girls did it ;)
Before I watch the video, I'm going to guess seeing them from a plane is the most inferior way.
Why are all of you guys wearing masks? Are those still mandated for travel??
fly a new airline
Deplaning? You don't sound American ;)
Someone copied Jean 😂
I guess you pay for what you get right? 😆
