I know they never said it out loud, but the way they talk in the show, and tone of every time the subject is brought up, it's pretty safe to assume that Bright and Buttercup are dead. Awesome story, guys.
Its heavily assumed. I think the episode called "apple reunion" you see two shooting stars go across the sky. Which is supposed to represent her parents. And AJ is always saying stuff like "your parents would be so proud" blah blah blah lol
It’s really assumed my biggest reference of this is the episode when appleblooms gets her cutie mark and AJ outright says if mom and dad were here they’d be proud of you

this kinda did have a happier ending than most creepy mlp stories at least in this one applebooms parents wont even let death stand in the way of protecting applebloom I guess its a sad kind of beautiful
I'm seriously surprised the Crusaders didn't get killed off by zombie parents. I thought that was where the story was going, but the tragic angle is better

So here's what I think happened. Apple Bloom's parents must have been attacked by timber wolves (or something worse) and that's why there's a fence there and they didn't tell apple bloom because she's so young. Also I think whatever magic was coming from that gem was causing the parents to come alive. That's my theory. Or they were killed in that land slide.
That seems possible!
Probably died from the landslide and the Timberwolves got to them

I disturbed the dead once i pissed on a tree serving as a grave without knowing until after when i saw the memorial on the other side but i aint haunted so the dead don't seem to care... or he just liked the piss i dunno
I was wondering why this story seemed so familiar at 24:00 onwards, then it hit me that it was probably based off the short story The Monkey’s Paw, where the wife has her husband wish for their dead son to be alive again- only for the husband to use up the last wish to undo it.
Saddest part is, If they left the gem alone, Apple would have probably gotten her Parents Back, It seems it was either reVIVING their bodies, or simply reANIMATING them.. I just hope it was the former...

I'm starting to get the feeling that Magpie is hinting at how she feels about everything that happened before she met Curse word and being with Ink dye previously now that she's stuck in the dark void and basically lost everything including Curse word Magpie has nothing else to do but reflect on her emotions and feelings on the events that happened and since she was isolated from every pony the only way to keep what Sanity she had left was to write The Twisted Tales of a Beloved .

The actual episode where they talk about the Apple family parents was a really good episode, probably one of my favorites. Time to move on to the next story

It was kinda messed up when I realised the holes where graves and applebloom just laid on her mom and dads dead bodies
For those who don't know *Spoiler Alert*
It was AppleBlooms reanimated parents that fought the timber wolf's hence why when gem was destroyed their corpses sat above the graves and the reason the crosses shattered.
Them: *talking ab rainbow droplets*
Me: *panics in rainbow factory*

I'm really loving how some people are trying to piece the information of these stories together and putting it together with the Beloved's state of mind at the time. People can call Curse Word or (mostly) Ink Dye crazy
But I'd say the Beloved wasn't in the best state of mind either. And it isn't hard to see why considering the themes of these stories whether you want to believe it or not

To me, this is like a retelling of the classic scary story the Monkey's Paw.

Aww, poor Applebloom. I know you miss you parents, but if they are truly dead.. you shouldn't mess with the dead. Also, I believe the full moon wouldn't make the spelwl stronger. I believe a waxing crescent Moon would be appropriate for this spell.
Actually the full moon Is the best time for spell work especially healing spells, even better is a full moon during imbolc.... but yeah.... never mess with the dead, let them rest

Does this story make anyone else somewhat think of the classic horror story called the monkey's paw? Something about the twist ending makes me have some de ja vu ish feelings of it, with how the CMC accidentally brought Applebloom's parents back from the dead and broke the spell to make them go back to permeant sleep.

I think the landside trapped them, and the timber wolves were what killed them. The gem and magic from it ,are probably what made them reanimate and attack the wolves.

So at 7:18 Apple Bloom was told that her parents were making a delivery and were never heard from again, but at 27:15 it says there are two wooden crosses with Apple Bloom’s parents names on them. Apple Bloom said Granny lies because Granny said they were never heard from since the delivery, but they never were on a delivery. They were in the east woods when an explosion happened and it caused their death shortly after Apple Bloom’s birth. Granny most likely placed the crosses there after the tragedy and decided to build a wall so the truth couldn’t be exposed to who I assume is mostly Apple Bloom, since Apple Jack is the one who built the fence.

I think Timber Wolves explode, somewhat like Creepers, when they die, right? Could her parents have fought them off (somehow?) and the explosion(s) plus their injuries/exhaustion have killed them, the resulting tremors causing the landslide?
This is why you shouldn't call upon the dead. You will not like what the results will be.
